the concept is simple actually. think of the roach as your hand, the ball and track sensors as a pc mouse and then the wires going to the motor as the wires from your mouse to the pc. now whenever one of the motors attached to a wheel gets a signal it moves.

Its not to buy it, its just a small stroke in a big picture. It would have taken longer to program a chip to do what these roaches can do. Im not saying its hard to program a chip to do it, but it wouldnt be the same as a living creature. It doesnt have that mechanical feel to it. If the roach wants to go to the light instead of the dark, it can, with a chip, It would either go, or not go, and sure you could program a randomized decision into the chip, but it still wouldnt be the same.

to be honest the "navigation system" is a load of bullshit, if they had put the roach in a black box with the sensors it would have been more believable but the fact it's out in normal daylight means it will not be able to differentiate between sunlight and the led's.
