4:50 Wow. Jack hurried to catch up with Charles so he could give him a piece of leather to tie his boot together. Someone struggling for the bare necessities, still willing to help out someone else, even a stranger. That speaks volumes!
This episode highlights the generational difference of today's material society around the world. In the past if you couldn't afford something you did without, now stupid girls in poor countries become hookers so they can wear the latest fashions,I used to feel sorry for then at first, but after so many sob stories from Russian/Thai/Latin American etc.skanks, about how poor they are,I think it just proof that as a species we are getting dumber and shallower all the time.
@laiosto Not only in poor countries do girls sell themselves for the newest phone, clothing and shoes, rich countries as well. If the people of those days could look at us know they would be sickened!!
clariebear2 the ingalls family are an inspiration to us all. even through the tough times like this episode the way the pulled together as a family and never despaired or gave up hope!! you never seen charles and caroline, arguing or charles being in the slightest bit aggressive towards his family when things got tough! really a great family
Don Knight(Jack Peters)was an ordained Methodist minister before being an actor. And the son being played is Lance Kerwin, who later starred in the tv movie pilot "James At 15"with Melissa Sue Anderon.

@jeffery68036803 I got clothes from thrift stores and sometimes family dollar when I was younger. And yes kids can be cruel.

I love the way Charles has humour even in the depths of despair. A quality I always aspire to have.
