I was born in 1993, but I still practally grow up with John Denver, and when in 2008 when I was 15 I found out he was dead I cried. One of the best singers and great musicians I've ever heard! :)
both my mother and my grandmother love john denver. i've bonded with them over this and i feel sad every time i listen to his xmas music, but i find him one of the most beautiful musicians i have ever heard. his songs make me laugh and make me cry, even smile through my tears. thank you for this
I remember the deep sadness I felt when I heard of John's passing. A lady I know only casually had lost a friend of hers in an accident, he was only 26. She asked me why people have to die so young. And I had no answer for her. God bless you, John, your music lives on !
I grew up without a dad,and John Denver was my role model of a what a good kind man should be.His depression and emotional issues don't lessen him in my eyes:it makes him all the more remarkable the good he did when battling some serious demons. All of you judgemental tossers need to see Stephen Fry's doco "The Secret Life of a Manic Depressive".Depression is a horrible illness. We were lucky to have JD while we could.God Bless u JD,look after mum in heaven for me.
Your video is all squished together like an old widescreen movie TV rerun that stations tried to play as standard frame ones in the 1970s. Please fix!
John Died flying his aeroplane, the accident report is available online and shows he knocked the fuel lever and unable to correct this would have spun out of control. He had no drink/drugs in his body. We miss johns musical legacy, and his humanatarian ways. He will be remembered by many - he would have wished his haters well, and his critics too. he was a good person.
@autopilotflight Actually, while reaching behind him to change fuel tanks he accidentally depressed the 'rudder pedal' sending the craft into a unrecoverable spiral dive.
@autopilotflight The Long-EZ aircraft that he was killed in had a modified fuel selector which was located over his left shoulder, making it very difficult to move during flight. It's thought that he took off with the lever in the "RIGHT" position and when climbing out of the airstrip he ran out of fuel in that tank. Whilst trying to reach the lever to switch tanks, the natural tendency would've been for him to put weight on his right rudder and it's thought that this caused him to enter a spin.
wow what a hag! and thats not the word I want to use either. we all know who Im talking about to, Shes just showing off her IQ, and thats not saying much.
Yes, JD made at least one guest appearance on The Muppet Show and there were two TV specials: 'John Denver and the Muppets A Christmas Together' and 'Rocky Mountain Holiday', both of which resulted in a record album.
'A Christmas Together' is available on CD and LP, while 'Rocky Mountain Holiday' can only be found on LP - though the show was released on DVD in the United States (region 1).
This lady left similar remarks on this page in June. When I wrote her she seemed regretful for the hurtful remarks she made. Those remarks were deleted and best left forgotten. Now, she's back again with more of the same.
@michaeldonegan Indeed.Don;'t worry,Michael, feel sorry for someone who takes delight being cruel. We know the truth.JD had NO substances in his bloodstream. As for suicide,JD loved Jesse more than anything. He would never leave her without a dad on purpose. And it's sad that this poster doesn't get that good people have substance abuse and depression issues too.I love Stephen fry,who is a wonderfully kind erudite man who, like JD was bipolar, and unlike JD had a cocaine problem. We're all human.
The autopsy report is online. Read it for yourself and you'll see how wrong you are! No drugs or alcohol were in his system and anyone who knew him knew without a doubt that it wasn't suicide because he loved and respected life. Your comment is a reflection of yourself and I truly feel sorry for you.
Thank you michaeldonegan for sharing this with us.. John was truly loved and will be missed by all true music lovers..I declare today as John Denver day in his memory..Much better than Columbus Day..At least John contributed something to the world..RIP our beloved John..
I loved the newscaster's reminiscent tale of John back in college. How ironic it is that he was the news anchor on the night that John passed on. Thank you for taking out the footage of his wreckage. This is a great video and one I had never seen before. John lives forever in our hearts, wherever we see the Earth's beauty; in his Spirit. ~PEACE
Yes, it was the newscaster's obvious personal grief that drew the clip to my attention. Here is a man who once knew the young John Denver many years before and who was deeply touched by the star's tragic passing.
I could have sworn John died in the late 80's not the late 90's. I'm watching Oh God right now and I decided to look him up on YT. I don't know why I thought he died in the 80's.
so nice to hear positive things on this post, about an amazing human being... I was so pleased to have seen him live several times.. evenings I will never forget
"he was also a drunk.." You are an idiot. He was not a drunk. He was a human being who made a mistake. He manned up to this issue, and apologized to his fans.
And it's pretty apparent he crashed the plane while trying to reach over his left shoulder trying to switch fuel tanks. He asked someone about the fuel level instead of checking it himself before take off.
To this day I become deeply sad when I remember seeing footage of John's(mercifully covered) remains wheeled on a guerney onto the embankment.(Why that was deemed appropriate for a 6pm newscast I'll never know.) JD deserves better recognition for the wonderful performer & conservationist he was.
Thankfully, the scenes I omitted were not so graphic. I just didn't feel that scenes from the crash site were absolutely necessary. I, also, would not wish to see scenes as graphic as those you describe.
HE WAS TRULY AMAZING. I LIVED IN THE BRONX AND LISTENED TO HIS SONGS WISHING I WAS WHERE HE WAS,,,WE STILL MISS YO JOHN!
