  • back then when real music existed

  • One of their best songs. Blondie's songs are so well written, both musically and the lyrics. Pure entertainment.

  • Come to think of it how old was she in '79?

  • @weirdkb she was in her 30s and ho-best time of a womans life\

  • @weirdkb and still pretty hot

  • Power pop at it's very best.

  • Definatly got better as she got older

  • Every one has their time,. This was Deborah's !

  • i will always love this girl. Incarnation féminine du rêve américain !

  • She is still gorgeous.

  • my name is phoenix and i like this very much x

  • Happy birthday Debbie !!

  • Happy birthday Debbie!

  • You know Debbie, I love you :)

  • I can guess this amazing live performance was from ''The Midnight Special'', Debbie's looks and vocals were at their best and the whole band was still united... What a dream...

  • @BlondiEmilio ONLY thing is it;s not Live at all !!! Doesnt take a rocket scientist to realise that

  • Comment removed

  • @hardyboyzrko LOL of course it's LIVE.:-P

  • @hardyboyzrko no, this is live ! do you think you have to be a rocket scientist to realise that ?

  • @hardyboyzrko It is live. This was performed on The Midnight Special and I'm pretty sure all performances on there were live. You can tell she is singing live.

  • @ziggyelectric I hear you,but I cant be convinced shes not lip synching

  • @hardyboyzrko That's fine I'm not gonna try to. Just thought I'd put it out there.

  • @hardyboyzrko - This is most definitely live. Most performances if not all on Midnight special were.

  • @hardyboyzrko Listen at 1:12 where her voice gives out. That should dispell your scepticism once and for all.

  • @crapple009 A fair point. Well besides all that ive been in love with this Woman since the 70's and today she is hot as ever

  • @hardyboyzrko Totally agreed- you and me both :-)

  • @hardyboyzrko Totally agreed. You and me both :-)

  • @hardyboyzrko Well then you should become a rocket scientist, since I've heard the studio version a million times, it is obvious she's singing live with the original song playing too. But it's live, enlighten yourself!

  • @hardyboyzrko Dude it's live, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out! Why would a band lip sync to a version that's different than the album version? Besides all Midnight Specials performances were live.

  • @doetim Some people just can't believe that a band can actually do this kind of thing live; their loss. Live music, even (maybe especially) if not perfect, is always best.

  • how nice that girl dancing !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • too cool for school hihi :)

  • best thing from the 20th century..... easy

  • woooow debbie harry have a excellent voice and she is so beautiful

the new wave in he 70´s by blondie ^^

  • please read my story on page 3 of the video: ""NBA Star Alopecia Areata"" ..thankx. i had hair like george michael, now i look like the guy from the movie: "Powder". lol

  • What a voice...

  • truly one of the greatest singers of all time. one of the most underrated bands ever. if you listen to parallel lines, everything about it is brilliant. and you can hear their influence reverberating through dozens and dozens of bands.

  • Am I the only one who thinks that Debbie is the greatest because of the best vocals in pop history?

  • I love you DEBBIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...........

  • Way better than all that happy punk shit from nowadays!!

  • If Blondie Was That Age In This Generation .. Pop Would Be Good.

  • @IIBlackened pop today isn´t good. Its great!

  • @IIBlackened Even if she did you would not recognise her because you lot are too close minded about my generations pop music to see that there is actually some good stuff IT JUST ISN'T IN THE MEDIA LIMELIGHT!!! there is loads of good stuff it is just buried under a massive dung heap. You have to get stuck in and be prepared to get covered in shit to find the best stuff.

  • @IIBlackened blondie isnt exactly pop...

  • @IIBlackened she was, it was

  • Blondie was SO cool...and Debbie Harry was the bomb!

And I'm diggin' the totally gay dance moves goin' on here with those freaks!...ha ha ha!

  • Debbie Harry + one-shoulder minidress = 8th Wonder of the World!

  • Did you ever meet anyone who didn't like Debbie Harry? Bet you didn't. She's the coolest chick anywhere. She's a punk rock Diana Ross. She's Madonna without the without the plannig.

  • fantastic song! brillant!!

  • Yup, she was the queen of that "I really don't care" attitude that made her all that more alluring... Oh yeah, and that voice!

  • I agree with Plooder I like it when she sings the end part in French, She does that last part in French on "The Best of Blondie" Vinyl record album. What a knock out lady. What a voice. Debbie Harry rockz!

  • I seen an interview on US TV about a year ago.

the interviewer asked her what do you remember

about that live show and she replied...having great sex

back stage. With her guitarist boyfriend of course.

So cool no one comes close.

  • @MrLayford65 : Thank you for this essential information. This gal is actually the coolest gal ever.

  • So seductively awesome, she makes u fall in love.

  • 1978 New York CitY Wow!

  • It's hard to not fall in love with her.

  • @MrGeorgesProfonde

Debbie Harry is certainly one of the reasons make us longing to was born in 70'.

  • She wears the Crown!

  • 1:20 really enjoy dancing ! =-D

  • She started to rock at and near the end...if only she could do that in french.

  • waw! super!!!

  • oh dear lord

  • I miss these days of rock n roll, where you could dance to it like this. You CAN'T dance to music these days unless its like, techno or something thats actually "dance music"

The problem is it's pretty bad..............

  • Clem Burke was in exactly the right band.

  • Marilyn was beautiful but Deborah Harry is OFF THE CHARTS beautiful. Perfect in every way.

  • THE REAL DEAL !

  • 34 years old (in 1979)!!

    pretty Debbie!

  • Brilliant performance! Those chessy dancers were embarassing!

  • shes got a nice mix of cool, camp, sex, appeal, and awesome music

  • For the folks lamenting Madonna eclisping Debbie, I have 1 thing to say: History will get it right. In time, folks will look back and forget about record sales and see nothing but the talent. Compared the Debbie Harry, Madonna will be remembered as a 2-bit whore with a microphone and many costume changes. Debbie will be remembered for her talent, beauty, and oh so casual coolness: none of which can be faked. Debbie has already begun to take her place in the history of music.

  • @HeathInClearLake I agree with you 100%! However Blondie sold a ton of records for the very short peak period of just a few years. Amazing achievement on their part.

  • @doetim And with the songs they wrote- that's the really amazing part.

  • Madonna's cited Debbie as a big early inspiration.Sad to see the less talented (imo) Madonna eclipse her role model Debbie in success. Madonna doesn't deserve to be an icon.I agree with Michael Jackson who said Madonna just isn't very talented. Blondie wrote better songs & Debbie had a much more appealing voice & presence than did Ms. Ciccone & her monster ego!

(btw, I dig those photos floating around the net from a pre-Blondie nude pro photo shoot young Deb the Playboy Club bunny did. Cutie!)

  • @Bobjb999-I would definitely rate Debbie over Madonna talentwise, although their music is different. But in the MTV era talent wasn't everything. People don't always appreciate how much help Madonna had in reaching fame. Among the songs she didn't write: Like a Virgin, Material Girl, Borderline, Holiday, Crazy for You, Live to Tell, Papa Don't Preach, Open Your Heart, Justify My Love, etc. That pretty much comprises all the songs that made her famous. Not bashing. Just a humble opinion.

  • @ihasch @ihasch Wow, I didn't know Madonna hadn't even written most of her hits. She's worse than I thought! Not only can she not write songs of Blondie's quality, she can't even pick songs as good as Blondie's from other songwriters!

I agree with your MTV point.

Madonna sold lots of records, just as McDonald's has served "Billions".Junk music&junk food can both sell, but that doesn't mean there's quality to them.

&Madonna's cold vocals pale beside Debbie's warm, sweet, charming voice!

  • @Bobjb999-People always equate fame with quality. They don't appreciate how cheap fame was in the MTV era. A clever video and visual appeal could produce a level of fame overnight that would have taken performers years to attain before music video. This is especially true if the music was merely disposable dance pop. With video fame no longer had to be based on vocal talent or songwriting. Madonna would not have been a star in the 70s. The level of fame she achieved is a product of her time.

  • so weirdly, for one year, she became someone really important to me ; not only for the music - the fact is that my taste for woman changed bacause of her. I know I'm not the only one : she's just the best chick ever.

  • I'll never get tired of look at her. :-) What a doll!

  • she has the best bone structure i ever seen!!!!!!!!!!

  • デボラの hurry up hurry up と、I have got a blues といっているところが舌っ足らずな感じがして可愛い(kawaii)ww。しかし、今みても、とても美しい女性です。

  • beautiful song

  • Smooth as silk.....a pure talent that can't be topped by the skankoids that we have now. Love you Debbie......

  • My teenage fantasy.....along with a million other teen boys...and the music was pure quality....nice.

  • @MegaBergkamp10 you fantasized about her and a million other boys?? Queeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer

  • @varsume Uh...you mispelled queer, it doesn't have 23 E's.

  • @varsume well if fantasizing about Debbie is queer well then fuck, ive been a queer for a good 20 years!! lol

  • Has anybody noticed that performers from that era had the ability to smile and look decent in how they behaved and dressed etc unlike today's bands that look like they just escaped from prison.

The good days are behind us. How sad.

  • Lovely Debbie she looks gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!! Incredible voice, incredible beat, she has everything. Ave Blondie, Ave Blondie, Ave Blondie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Her voice sounds great here.

  • I'm with you. All DH ever did for this band was write/co-write X-Offender, In The Flesh, Heart of Glass, Rapture, Call Me, One Way Or Another, Pretty Baby, Picture This, Dreaming, Union City Blue, Atomic, etc. And sing. And be the public face of the band...

The band is good and Clem is great. But the reason they are remembered is DH. And sex appeal is an integral part of rock music; always will be. Blondie's a group!, but not all parts of a group are equal, something Clem has said himself.

  • Anyone Have Anything To Say Besides How Hot Debbie Harry Was In The 70's The Band Were Pretty Damn Good,

Clem Burke Is An Excellent DrummerIve Been A Blondie Fan Since I Was 5, And Noticed The Drumming Right Away, Im A Drummer, And I Always Practice To Blondie To Get My Arms Warmed up

Every Comment Is Always About Debbie , She Will Never Look This Good Again So Deal With It.......

  • No. That about covers it.

  • @AceDynasty79

the drumming was what I noticed as well. 'Eat to the Beat' is my fav albums and the drumming was a big reason for it- high energy new wave punk.. When I think of this band "dreaming" and "union city blues" are the first things to pop into my mind. But ya gotta admit her voice was as good as her looks. But like any great band, it takes everyones input- even the drummers...;p

  • @AceDynasty79 Very good point. That is why it's essential to have talent more so than looks. You can't hold onto those looks, no one can. Yes she was hot but the songs were alot of fun and the musicianship was great. And Burke? OMG those drums were awesome, particularly on Eat to the Beat.

  • @AceDynasty79 I always thought Clem Burke was in the wrong band. He should have been in a band like the Police or the Who.

  • @Exilemainstreet Clem worshipped Keith Moon. Plays like him too.

  • @SONOR4 It shows too. I read he was briefly in the Ramones--I don't know why he didn't work out with them since I think his playing style would have fit them perfectly.

  • Merveilleuse Debbie Harry... Quelle joie communicative, quel bonheur elle semble éprouver à chanter, quel talent... Et quel groupe fantastique ! Je ne connais pas de groupe ayant un tel charisme de nos jours.

  • That's the best live performance I've ever heard, as goo as if not better than the recorded version. Why wasn't I born in the 70's?!?

  • marilyn monroe has nothing on this chick...to cool, man, too cool...

  • Marilyn would have definitely traded her face for Debbie's. Anyone would! Debbie's face is the 8th wonder of of the world! Marilyn Monroe's face, as cute as she was, doesn't quite compared to one of the most perfect god-given bone structures ever!

  • @doetim

the thing is she wasn't just another pretty face- she defined chic for the eighties (but was really timeless). her voice was like birdsong in a dream and she had such a velvet in your face attitude, that touch that is lacking in so many women these days- ladylike class, not bull feminism...

  • @only1too

    Totally agree with you!

  • Indeed, I believe Debbie is one of the most beautiful women ever. I think Marilyn's charisma was of a psychic nature.

  • @only1too ???

  • @only1too Marilyn Monroe had a nose job. Had she lived longer she would have asked her doctor to make her cheeks and lips like Debbie's. Seriously MM was an average to kind of cute girl but with makeup and lighting she was made into a very glamorous star. Debbie is just stunning, one in a trillion stunning. No comparison!

  • @doetim-Monroe also apparently had work done on her chin, and there is speculation about more. Plastic surgery goes back further than people think. I generally don't get into these comparisons but that is something I never would have looked up if you didn't mention it. So much for the innocent past.

  • @ihasch Think about how 'Roaring' the 20's were... women cut their hair short & *gasp* wore dresses so short, you could see their calves! Lol... but on a serious note the 20's were pretty crazy esp. considering the conventions of the time. Blues music was scandalous...

  • @doetim Yes, MM did have work done on her nose but back then they kept changes a bit more subtle, opting for a more 'natural' look as comp. to now, lol.

MM did event the whole white blonde look, pale skin white hair, and her blue & white eyeshadow was a look she also started. She used 3 diff colors of red for her lips...she didn't wear a girdle when most women did back then, she worked out with weights...

We don't have to choose, either or, we can like both MM and Debbie.I love them both! :)

  • @OriginalPinkbird I'm not sure if MM "invented" the white blonde look because Jean Harlow had the same look 20 years before MM but MM definitely took it to another level. I was only stating that IMO Debbie was more naturally stunning in her prime BUT you are very correct though both are great we can have both!

  • @only1too your dead right she was and still is a stunning women

  • @only1too lol

  • @only1too - I totally agree

  • @only1too Where did she learn it?

  • @only1too not to mention, alive

  • She's beautiful...Debbie Harry.

  • My favourite Blondie song.

    Can't believe it's been 30 years!

  • dmustard11..are you sure you´re gay?

  • no names, but I used to go to school with a girl who looked A LOT like Debs..the fantasies I had

  • @footworkfa12 I'm a gay male and even I fancy debbie harry! I saw Blondie live in 2005 and she was fooking amazing.

  • Easily one of the best live performances on YouTube. Even the goofy dancers add to it.

    That hair...

  • the reason you see funny dancing is becaus this is a time of transition in dance moves from disco to new wave & punk dance steps were changing.... these days were awesome disco was becoming history and new wave was beeing born!

  • stunningly beautiful shes like a dream

  • lol did ye see the women runnin away wen that guy got up 2 dance lol

  • Great band! Loved the documentary Blondie did, even though was down to earth, her voice is as wonderful as ever, just bit sexier that's all.

  • That is seriously some of the funniest dancing I've ever seen. Elaine Benas, take note.

  • @mattkaslow You obviously havn't seen me dancing!!!"

  • look at 1:43 and 1:59 this is like a song break in a movie type track t hey did have to a struggle to get good.

  • 1:15 to 1:24 LoL

  • awesome !!!!

  • I was born in the 80s... 1986 to be exact...

I play in a very Modern Rock band; but when i need to write music for the band, I use music from before my time for inspiration... music back then have a formula that I cant decipher, its just plain AWSOME. no matter how many times I listen to it, I find it amazing. I actually envy people who got to grow up with this music.

  • Man, those were the times. I'm too a guitar lover and Blondie's work is so inspirational, they played everything from punk to rap with style, coldness and grace. Everything was more natural back then.

BTW 1986 rules !(the same year i was born)

    Cheers !

  • The good thing is timeless classic music does NOT belong to any particular generation, it lasts forever for all generations to enjoy, it's yours, mine and ours!

  • yeah u r right even im 27 i love her i wish i was lived in back 70"s god damm it

  • A 45 yr old man who used to have Debbie's poster on his wall as a teenage boy in the 70's can't claim Blondie anymore more than a 16 yr old of today. Music and beauty to this degree is perpectual!

  • Dont know about that. But i suppose your right let everybody just enjoy some great beauty and fantastic music.

  • Most beautiful creature ever: Debbie Harry.

  • Was that Dirk Diggler dancing?

  • Hahahaha...it's at moments like this, i'm glad i was born in the mid sixties:) Kids of today dont have anything near as cool as this to look back on.

  • thank for remenbering me that!:P

  • wow, that was AWESOME!!!

  • people really used to let it all out while dancing back then! lol. great video, great band, great performance.

  • my girl

  • Ciekawe o czym jest ta piosenka ? Może ktoś wie ? Jest super !

  • Trzeba się języków uczyć... :P

  • She is my Ikon too

  • she is magic

  • WOW This

  • WOW This is a great clip. Thanks for posting it. I always loved Blondie and this is a fantastic live performance. You can really see and hear their punk roots coming through in their whole attitude and in the guitar sound, especially from 2:27on. Its a real sign of the times seeing the disco influenced dancing mixed with the punk attitude performance. The girls dancing at 2:33 is hilarious. As ever Debbie looks stunning. Love it all.

  • I always loved the way her hair became increasingly dishevelled, as her performance became increasingly frenzied :)

  • wow Blondie is so great, i love her voice

  • she is really hot yes.

  • The outfit is very Barbarella!

  • Love her hair.

  • I LOVE how the people in the audience dance!!!!

  • Debbie looks so modern compared to everyone else in this clip! And it's funny, she did it by going 60's retro when everyone else was being "contemporary!"

  • Very true kookooboy and I always notice that too when I watch her clips like this one and the Solid Gold/Tide is High clip. That's why she's such a huge fashion icon, her fashion was always head of its time.

  • I also would of liked to have been there in person. Debbie Harry really looks great in that dress. Too bad the video is rather low quality- It looks like everyone was having a blast!

  • Listen to this TAKE off at 2.14 and when they really let go at 2.28 on...

    They're really digging this!

  • This is really GREAT!

Band is on top form and the drummer is FULL ON!

What I would give to have been there!!
