I'm a single man, and I bought the GLK simply because it was a solid vehicle, and I needed the added cargo space as opposed to a C Class. I liked the more muscular styling over the Q5 and X3 which seemed a little more "bubbly" and soccer mom looking to me. I will say, when my GLK was in for service last week I was given a C Class. Now, for anyone looking for a more affordable MB with great handling, go for the C Class as it handles excellently.

The reviewer sounds pretty insecure of his masculinity. If you don't feel like a man driving a Merc, it's probably has more to do with you, the driver, than the car.

@GSGFlash Most everyone, including yourself, has totally missed the point. The demo for this vehicle is women. That doesn't mean men can't buy it. Geesh! Marketing teams do this to everything you consume i.e. tv shows, food, movies, etc.  And guess what? I bet we all consume goods designed for the other sex and sometimes we don't even realize it. I'm here to reassure you that it's OK.

It's a "man's vehicle" when you'll be looking at it outside (if you can't "see" all the masculine, angular elements of the exterior - well, then I feel sorry for your lack proper sense of aesthetics), BUT it is a "woman's vehicle" in terms of driving response. The steering is pretty lightweight with almost no meaningful feedback and the brake pedal has a long travel distance before actually engaging the brakes - perfect for average woman driver or for anyone who hates to drive but has to.

I'm no car exspert at all but I love cars. Now this is a Benze people. Big small whatever its a benze all the same. When there are faults with 1 of the most luxurious cars made it can only mean 1thing; after 1996 the entire auto industry went said "f" it I quit! I'm a guy and I'd drive this GLK anyday. It looks well styled and the price is spot on. I've heard nothing but good reviews and if a test drive checks out well I don't see why it's not for me. Only because the media says it's a Woman's car doesn't actually mean that. Time to make decisions for ourselves, small penis reviewer here can drive his oversized SUV if he so chooses.

@stevehammes The X3 and Q5 look much more effeminate in their body-style than the GLK, seeing as it's rigid and generally sporty-looking. I am 6'3 and have no problem fitting in the back seat or getting in/out. I tested both the X3 and Q5 before deciding to purchase the GLK and I must say it is the most refined out of the three. Finally, are you a misogynist or something with the erroneous "female car" comments?

@phillybob233 Actually, most GLKs come with leatherette (Vinyl) while the competition have real leather standard (except the X3). I just Don't like the gigantic protruding wood panels, it looks good in a Rolls-Royce, but this isn't one.

The front of the car is way to long. And the car looks to short. But I am glade to see that Mercedes hasn't changed to push engine start. I know I know most people like it but I don't. Do you really need a push engine start ? I mean how hard is it to turn the key ? And plus it is a lot cheaper to fix a key start than a push engine start.

Drove both the GLK and Q5, current car Infinity FX. Taking the GLK HANDS DOWN over the Q5. Am soooooo tired of my car "yelling" at me from under the hood and from the tail pipe. Looking for exquisite road manners and peace and quiet. Given MY requirements, there is no choice but the Mercedes.

@stevehammes I guess we all have our opinions but I just test drove a Q5 and a XC60 and got to say they both had a front drive torque steer feel to them.The GLK feels more like a rear drive vehicle with its 60/40 rear to front split.Also the styling is much more masculine than the other compact SUV's out there.

As for the Q5 . . I have a TT . . .anything that comes with DSG . .AVOID. Sooooo many 'issues' that it finally beat the Audi fanboy out of me!

So is this, and I wouldn't buy a Q5. I happen to own an Alfa Romeo 159 with all of the options with the V6 and AWD. Which is more expensive than this junk. Plus there is my Volvo XC60 which I bought instead of this. It also beat this car in every comparion between the two. Plus my Volvo won't fall apart.

I have, it's uncomfortable, tight inside, and it's not fun to drive. Further more those side steps just make the car harder to enter and exit the car. The steering is so numb you can't tell that it's even connecyed to the wheels. And the Volvo has a nicer interior although the nav sysetm is a bit easier to use in this car, I'll give it that. but still, I rarely use it anyways.

idk i think you need to check your car cuz my brother wanted a GLK and went to test drive it and it was good but the volvo is better looking but i prefer the interior in this one than the volvo, btw the nav in the volvo is terrible so if you thinking about trading this car, check the Q5 from Audi, i heard its pretty good

I already have my Volvo XC60, I never bought a GLK for the reasons stated above. I know the Q5 is good, more fun to drive but the Volvo looks better and is more, practical.

I like the masculine styling. Tired of the generic Jelly Bean, curvy feminine look. Also the GLK is faster than most of it's competition. Faster than the Q5. Faster 0-60, faster top end.

However the Q5 does handle more like a sports car. So if you want a sport car on stilts and you like the styling, the Q5 is cool. OTOH, if you want a masculine SUV that exudes luxury, the GLK would be a better fit. You pay your money and you take your choice. People need to drive them and see for themselves.
