  • Hey, what mod did you do on that PB&J?, it sounds amazing

  • @rohaihuparaguay this one arrived 'broken', but i got another and had a go at modifying it - look for my video 'osccilating gambit mod' or google 'pb&j oscillating gambit mod' and there's info on harmony central effects forum.

  • @TheColdNorthWind I just saw your mod. So, you just bridge a resistor. It looks like that resistor is providing dampening to a feedback circuit, by removing the dampening you get the self oscilation, cool. I have modified a few pedals myself and it is an addiction!. Really good sounds you have going in here.

  • so, so good. I am getting a freeze after hearing this

  • This is a fine example of the difference between a person that plays the guitar...and a musician. I'm just a guitar player...you're a musician!

    Dm of mD

  • Incredibly Explosions In the Sky-ish :)

  • Absolutly amazing! With Sugar Ros feel, just great music!

  • great, nice to see someone make such beautiful sounds with a pedal board that wouldn't need a mortgage as well

  • Getting my Freeze tomorrow. Can't wait, especially due to this demo.

  • One of the best pedal demos on Youtube for anyone who's into postrock. Fucking good work man!

  • yo, where is the freeze in your chain can you post order?

  • reminds me of guilty cubicles by broken social scene for some reason. nice video man. definitely highly considering the freeze, and POG as well but its a bit out of my price range at the moment.

  • sweet

  • Would you recommend the Squier Cyclone? I'm thinking about getting one.

  • @LzrdKng9000 definitely. really decent pickups for a cheap Squier too. and body is pretty heavy on mine.. but that can be good/bad depending on perspective.

  • @TheColdNorthWind thank you, my friend. i really like your pedal board set up as well. i'm looking into both the EHX Freeze and the Akai Headrush

  • i definitely hear the sigur ros - where is your bow :)

can you write your chain - your basically using the head rush in the hold mode? just the looper function and using your blue pedal as the delay,, pog 2 with lots of shimmer / swelling

  • @reactionsok yeah, i only really use the Headrush for looping. i think the POG 2 was set up for an octave down to do 'bass' early on in the clip. otherwise the rest is all reverb/delay/freeze and how i play the guitar. no shimmer / swelling from what i remember.

  • does it works with a daisy chain?

  • @arcmoztoc yes, as long as it's getting 140ma i think.. so your '1-spot' might be 1500ma shared across all your other pedals so you have to calculate how much current (ma) is available. if you have any digital reverb or delays in the chain they're probably taking quite a lot already - google this page for details: stinkfoot . se / power-list

  • @TheColdNorthWind that page was very useful to me, thanks man. you do really amazing things! respect from mexico

  • Does a double tap disengage the Freeze effect?

  • @ryanf81 when it's in the latch mode, yes. you can use the other modes to have the effect on only when the switch is pressed down though.

  • explosions in the sky on a 2x1

  • love this one!

  • wow....once you get going that's beautiful, you need to do some serrrrious recordings and release an album dude.

  • whats the name of the blue delay pedal?

  • @Jagstangplayer95 it's the Danelectro PB&J delay. it's awesome, and i just modded another one so it oscillates which sounds fantastic.

  • beautiful...

  • Very good sounds. Nice.

  • man i dig this a lot.

  • This is amazing, honestly one of the best sounding guitar jams I've ever heard. I'm going to download it to my MP3 if you don't mind :D

  • @IXconnorXI thanks, feel free to download it. you might want to subscribe aswell since i'm planning on turning this idea into a full blown recording sometime soon! cheers

  • @TheColdNorthWind u should

  • Props on the vid man, sweet gear and awesome playing.

  • For some reason it reminds me of Purple Rain! Beautiful use of your gear man seriously.

  • ah click the preset button!!..i it hate when my pog2 blinks when a setting has been changed on a preset haha

  • what ?! it seems Blackfield's or Explosions in the sky sounds... like

  • Thats truely beautiful, i have no idea what you're playing but it's amazing! :) thanks

  • Freeze and a looper is an extraordinary combo.

  • I see you got you own GORM (IKEA) pedalboard :)

  • thats fuckin tits! need me that freeze sound retainer. how do you like the head rush? is it better than a boss looper? really beautiful music by the way. im really impressed!

  • @t0psecretshit cheers! yeah, love the Headrush still. just so easy to use. i couldn't stand the RC-2, and the RC-20 crapped out on me.. the newer '3' series looks interesting though.

  • @TheColdNorthWind dude i ordered the ehx freeze last night all cuz of your vid man. yeah i have an rc2, rc20 and a line6 dl4 but that head rush is kinda interesting. since you like the headrush over the boss loopers i may have to check it out for my self. keep rockin dude!

  • @t0psecretshit Cool, I'm sure you'll love it! Keep an eye out for another video I've got planned.. Freeze + Headrush but looping multiple freeze-chords.

  • Came here for the pedal, Wasn't expecting mega chops!! awesome stuff

  • times like this is what makes the bloody fingers, the frustrating first F, and learning guitar all worth it.

  • WOw man, how did you achieve that extraordinary sound at 2:00? the subtle spatial sound

  • @SpikeShinizile tremolo-picking with a lot of delay repeats :)

  • cool sound!

  • Could you please post a video kind of just showing off your Cyclone. Im in debate on getting either a Jagmaster, Venus, Super-Sonic, or Cyclone.

  • Wow ! Beautiful !

  • hey! can you get really deep reverbs, i mean postrock style, with the RF-1?

really good jam by the way! sounds like sigur ros! :)

  • @aukis the Hall mode is definitely dense enough.. adds some serious low-end, almost boomy, but it might not get wet enough for most people (that's what she said). I'd highly recommend the Boss RV-2 though - i have some vids of that up here too; the reverb level is plenty loud enough and the Hall 2 mode is pure Sigur Ros.

  • @TheColdNorthWind Thanks Mister! Yeah, I've been searching for RV-2. Gonna hit eBay soon enough since it appears that all music stores are trying to sell me some rv-5 crap. Lot of postrock/ambient-gearwankers suggest RV-3 aswell, I think because of it has a delay in it too.

To be honest.. I think I'm going crazy and getting Strymon BlueSky. Why? Well.....Check a demo..

  • @aukis I'll take that back, seems that you have the Capistan. You must know all about BlueSky too. :)

  • @aukis the RV-5 and 3 have that modern high fidelity reverb that i just didnt get on with. the delay+reverb modes aren't that good either.. not enough control of either effect. i don't see what the fuss is about. i use delay so much that i could justify getting the El Capistan. And, speaking as a complete cheapskate, it's worth every 1 of the 249 pounds! i can't bring myself to pay that for a reverb, but my first stop would be Strymon if i ever changed my mind. best of luck on the hunt!

  • hey! can you get really deep reverbs, i mean postrock style, with the RF-1?

  • hmmmm, im thinking jam over the e string as a drone with a harmonic minor an octive above played with an "e-bow" mabby ??

  • Very ethereal with nice texture! Nice pedal selection...but even better use of them...fine work!

  • very nice jam man, very inspiring.

    cheers from france !

  • Hey man, Sounds great! Reminds me of Oceansize, great band aswell! I'm thinking of getting a Freeze too, but I'm nog shure where to put it in my signal path. Where did you put it?

    Cheers

  • @Pac112JMX Love oceansize! On this vid it's after delay, but I've since figured out it's better before delay and reverb.. And modulation too. After overdrive though.

  • how's the fuel tank junior with the freeze? is it quiet?

  • @robdelabassist - I don't think you can run the Freeze off it. the Freeze needs 140ma (and comes with it's own power supply) the FT Jr is 120ma per output, becuase it has isolated outputs. the other Fuel Tank's share the sum ma (500) across all their outputs, so you could potentially use one of those depending on the draw of your other pedals.. wouldn't be isolated though..

  • @robdelabassist i'm running it trough a BBE Supa Charger. it's not noise free, but still silent.

  • Is it all right if i download this? I listen to it everyday :)

  • @DanielBianco92 sure. just don't rip it off.. ;) i'm working on making a full song out of it at the moment

  • @TheColdNorthWind of course. I cant wait to hear the end result. And thanks man!

  • OMG YES! I actually have the money to buy this!

  • I love those sounds. I'm saving up for a freeze. Can't wait to have it. Well I can wait, but I rather not.

  • hey dude, cool vid, but can't help to be curious, what's the power supply you are using?

  • @mikyj139 Hi, it's a T-Rex Fuel Tank Jr

  • amazing, an inspiration

  • nice one, well done.

  • Love the Sigur Ros-like styling. I need one of those things RIGHT NOW.

  • That was beautiful.

  • Squier sounds good man. Which mode did you use for this?

  • @Xevamir - cheers. yeah it's been a great guitar. the scale length is really comfortable too without being toyish like the 24" Fenders. i think i was changing between pickup settings for different stuff, but the main loop is neck pickup (really nice deep and clear single coil) i think its the bridge humbucker when the distortion is first turned on but i'm probably switching around a lot for different tones.

  • @TheColdNorthWind I meant on the Freeze, my bad! lol

But your guitar really does sound fantastic, I've got a Fender Nashville Tele, and I just about always switch pickups around during songs.

I like rolling the tone back and using the neck pickup for ambient pads, and the switching to the bridge+middle strat pickup position for leads and suchwhat!

    Awesome video once again.

  • Which danelectro TOD do you have?

  • @warmeverest version 1.

  • Very explosions in the sky.

    Oh and nice board.

  • really reminds me of "explosion in the sky"

  • Dude nice cables where'd you get them? (White and red ones)

  • @sunofnothin - err.. Just cheap ones from any old guitar shop.

  • @TheColdNorthWind Ahh, dude, nice music, I like putting it on when I'm on my comp :D

  • hey man, i was just wondering if you have a little time, please you could name these pedals for me, i LOVE your board and would love to get a couple of these pedals :) thank you man, AMAZING DEMO.

  • @BATTCIHY Thanks dude. They're all listed in the tags. Electro harmonix freeze sound retainer and Pog2 octaver, Marshall RF-1 reverb, Danelectro transparent overdrive and PB&J delay, and Akai headrush looper.

  • Hey I'm really impressed with this jam, It has a great sound to it. I'm new to pedals and it would be great if you could if you could explain to me how you got the loop going and what each of your pedals is doing, because i am interested in doing a similar setup. Thanks!

  • After a couple of minutes I started to forget that I was watching this to listen to the pedal. God, this is amazing. Please record some stuff!

  • @xGrinder07x - 5 isolated outputs. 9v each. you can run more than 1 pedal off one output with the daisy chain connector. check out a site called stinkfoot for info on lots of power supplies

  • Beautiful and inspiring music making. Easily the best Freeze demo vid I've seen on YouTube. Thanks, man!

  • @xGrinder07x - yeah, it's a power supply.. a T-Rex Fuel Tank Jr. no complaints at all with it. go for it!

  • Nicely done man! I find myself listening to this song frequently. Inspiring!

  • reely pretty cool

  • very beautiful and nice clear video.

  • really cool, really cool, really cool, really cool... can you tell me where you've got the freeze in your chain... i am trying to look, but not sure, thanks.

  • @mverdi9 - cheers. it's guitar-overdrive-pog2-delay-freeze-reverb-looper. since this video i've settled on having the Freeze a lot earlier i the chain. before delay and the pog2 so i can effect the drone, rather than drone an effect.. if that makes sense?!

  • really cool, really cool, really cool, really cool...

  • beatifull...

  • you must be a fan of sigur ros..really cool man...great...

i was looking for a review off the freeze pedal..and got a little concert instead...many thanks:)

  • @impoid - thanks. and yes.. very much a Sigur Ros fan. i'd recommend Mono too, if you haven't heard of them.

  • Amazing stuff, I actually almost forgot what I came here to see (the freeze pedal) because the music is just so good! Great work!

  • That is some of the most beautiful guitar riffing i have heard in my life

  • Wow nice jam man.. very relaxing

  • my favorite demonstration of the freeze pedal! Thanks for posting. I just bought a loop station and now I'm about to buy myself the freeze!!!

btw the melody you're playing is perfect for all those nice textures!

  • This man's foot is every bit a part of his rig.

  • That was so freaking cool!!!

  • Great pedal use, keep it up.

  • finally a demo that shows what a person like myself could actually use this pedal for. awesome! and props on the not knowing theory stuff, i taught myself as well and know nothing about pentatonic scales. play what sounds good to you

  • nice video! it's good to hear a guitar player actually playing music instead of riffing on the pentatonic scale the whole time.

  • @therealjohnnymad cheers! it helps not knowing what a pentatonic scale is.. :) but i like that i never learnt guitar theory. sometimes it would be useful, but i prefer just playing what sounds right in my head.

  • @TheColdNorthWind Yeah.... fuck the scales.... i dont no them either..... thats wat people SHOULD do.... play wat sounds good, dont let theory get in the way.... im learning music theory right now, and so far its really complicated things too much..... not that i hate music theory, but i dont think im ever going to actually APPLY it to wat i do when i play

  • @ZcSoldierRS The best thing about theory and reading music IMO,IME is to play what sounds good and then being able to write it down; its also a plus to know exactly where to go next. Playing what sounds good is great, but if you're unable to transcribe what you hear in your head into your hands, then you're lost.

The Freeze pedal was a damned genius idea, perfect for jams like this where you can play into yourself straight into the cosmos.

  • Lovely!

  • Sounds really cool mah mang!

  • thats really awesome! i was thinking about getting one, but i already got an ebow and a digitech delay with an infinte repeat button, is it still worth it?

  • @TacooGrill it's good in that you can just freeze stuff while you're playing. like in this jam, i just 'caught' notes that sounded good and continued to jam over it, and it just built up another layer of sound without me stopping playing. with a looper and an ebow you're probably restricted to building that drone before you start playing the rest of the song. it's a different sound, but its very convenient to just step on something once when you want to hold that as a drone.

  • Sounds great mate... all of the pedals, the guitar and the playing.
