  • how can earth beat so many flying saucers!

  • WOAH!!!!! BEST MOVIE OPENING - EVAH!!!!!!

  • an underrated comedic masterpiece! this film is hilarious, but no one got it upon release. Shame.

  • When I first saw this, I was impressed at how many well-known actors Tim Burton got in this film.

  • the funny thing is that if you are orbiting Mars you can't see Earth and vis-versa! lol

  • My ears!

  • OMG i need to see this movie again! its AMAZING! and the music is AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE thanks for posting!

  • this is the first ever movie i've seen with hundreds of well known actors that has actully been good.

  • thay really need to make a sequal to this cuz it dident cover all the cards..... covers only half TIM BURTONS RICH AS A MUTHA FUCKA WHY DONT HE?

  • Chanting 0:20 Sounds Like Chanting XENU LORD XENU O XENU ! !

  • Such a fun score. It's classic, twisted and loads of fun.

  • 0:00 I CAN'T STOP LISTENING!!! XD XD

  • LORD XENU ! !

  • @NukeChinks Crikey, L.R.H., there are throbbing Thetans thumbing theremins on the starboard bow!

  • Too bad the sound is 3500x too high...

  • One can hear in Mr.Elfman's score the influences of Bernard Hermann (The Day the Earth Stood Still) & Akira Ifukube (Destroy All Monsters, Toho Films, 1968), regarding the former it is an homage, ie, the use of theremin. The martial tempo is very Ifukube, & dare I say, shades of Prokofiev, as the tune has an underlying Russian folksy beat, albeit wrapped in appropriately sinister sounding instrumentation. Bravo Mr.Elfman.

  • So corny and yet so epic!

  • i did not like this movie but i loved the opening credits

  • The thing that is so freaky about this movie is that there is a huge contrast between this apparent military might of the Martians shown here, and then their goofy (albeit violent) antics later on in the film. Their logic is, for lack of a better word, ALIEN. And unlike the Independence Day aliens whose scavenger-like motivation can be likened to animals or insects, the Martian logic is chillingly comparable to that of a bored human.

  • The martians should attack Miley Virus and Justin Beaver!

  • We come in peace. Fuc..you marcian!

  • ...i'm figure that the martians attack the earth of matrix....

  • I hated how every single critic ripped this movie to shreds for it's "stupidity."

IT'S A FUCKIN' B-MOVIE! It was MADE to be stupid!

  • @BlackHallow55 And that proves how stupid they are, if they can't see it.

  • 1:17 it soounds like the'yr saying trololol! lol

  • I love how Tim Burton's movies always have EPIC openings!!!

  • i can beleave that tim burton made that!

  • An excellent score and a fun and goofy movie. Great beginning, with all those flying saucers. Wonderful to see good ol' fashioned flying saucers again!

For Elfman scores I like Beetlejuice too and nothing tops The Nightmare Before Christmas. Like Jack says "FAN-TASTIC!"

And for Mars Attacks movies nothing beats War of the Worlds. George Pal's 1950s masterpiece, not the God-Awful Spielburg remake. Bleah!

    Ack and again Ack!

  • ACK AcK aCk!!

  • Critics must'vee been idiots when they reviewed this film, because it was and is amazing!

  • @forrestorocks Totally agree. I was blown away when I saw this - everyone had told me it was crap but it's amazing - just too weird for most people.

  • I M XENU

  • Tim Burton wanted this movie to be just like the cheesy movies made by Ed Wood. He succeeded and then some!

  • best intro ever

  • Mars Attacks is without a doubt Burton's most underrated film and Elfman's most forgotten score... such a classic B movie!

  • @Scruffy193

It's like the only Burton Film (well maybe except Batman) which isn't made of rocksolid faggotry.

  • @Dethmasheen,

That's debatable, but his works of late have been somewhat sub-par... Tim Burton needs to stick to original concepts nowadays, instead of reworking existing films or books.

  • @Scruffy193 This is one of the only films of his I actually enjoyed!

  • I would like to point out that, should anybody be insane enough (i.e. Me) to actually try and convince Paramount / Nickelodeon / Jhonnen Vasquez to actually try and make an INVADER ZIM Film, this theme will inevitably be used in a trailer / the trailer(s). THE FANDOM HAS DECREED IT!!!

  • @TheWolfMan1941 Just one problem. Mars Attacks portrays itself as being extremely epic and grand and haunting with this opening.... all three things - Invader Zim is not.

  • @kurvos Perhaps, but it would work as trailer music for Zim nonetheless, since it would pique most people's interest in said film.

  • @TheWolfMan1941 I think this opening is good as it's own - I don't like the idea of trailers using other themes from different movies. I mean, the trailer for that extremely bad movie Son of the Mask stole the theme from the movie Mousehunt... how random is that? Oh, and the trailer to the first Scary Movie stole the theme from Beetlejuice. What I hate the most about this - they don't fucking credit the movie they take it from, in case someone is curious; like me.

  • @kurvos Ok, no big deal. You've got your opinion and I have mine. I'm also sure that some other, more successful films have used earlier film's music in their trailers.

  • Does this intro alone just make anybody else want an alien extermination of humanity?

  • play this during any command and conquer battle.

  • I watched this film all the time as a kid. That intro still gives me chills! Such a great film!

  • I don't care what anyone says. This movie is brilliant!!!

  • 2:06 = epic

  • @vernii

agreed, I hope that happens in rl. =D wait...

  • Not since DeLaurentis' remake of Flash Gordon has there been such a bold, vibrant, brilliant camp movie. And yes, pair Danny Elfman and a theramin and you've got kitch-paydirt.

  • I love this Song!! Elfman is Great!

    1:20 this scene is Scary!

  • @indianajonesindy ......... the whole video is just one scene. You mean "this part is scary". There's a difference between a part and a scene.

  • How great is Tim Burton he casts a bunch of A list Hollywood stars in an alien invasion movie and the majority of people who survive are the B list actors.

  • Only Tim Burton could bring together the awesome talents that are Jack Nicholson...and Ray J!

  • guitar version pleaze

  • Those saucers must be DAMN fast, if they can get from Earth to Mars in the time it takes to roll the credits, anyone able to calculate the speed they must be travelling to do that :P

  • @Snowman20

if you were to go down that road, you'd have to take nito account that they're not taking off from mars, earth is way to big in the sky toi be as far away as mars, the moon-esque distance would be more like it

but hey, who cares about those little things? :P

  • I love this movie. It's a film based on a trading card series that actually worked!

  • Great movie and those who dont like it or dont even bother to see it dont know what there missing. Great music in the beginning.

  • *ZZAAPPP** ZAAPPP* AACK! ACK ! ACK!!* ZAPPP!!*! (transolator) *dont run we come in peace* ZAAAAPPPP!!!

  • i was like how long is this tital ugh

  • if anyone has noticed, this is made like a b-movie, b-movies fail right yet are remembered forever, this failed but it got a cult following, does this mean the movie was a sucses!

  • It is amazing.

  • Why would so many big stars do something so stupid?

  • @incrediblehulkmovies It's supposed to be a spoof, genius...

  • @Mistermax30 Not a very good spoof I'm afraid. Spoofs are only good with comedians in them like Leslie Nielsen, Betty White, Lloyd Bridges, Ann Francis, and

Jerry Lewis. Not ones like Benning and Nicholsen and Tom Jones. Just doesn't make sense.

  • @incrediblehulkmovies It's actually a fairly hilarious spoof, the brilliance behind it is that they used big name actors to play B-movieish roles. Using well known slap stick comedians like Leslie Nielsen and Lloyd Bridges would have sapped the energy from the film and made it forgettable...

  • Guys, pray for Mars attacks 2

  • wua no ma tim burton y danny elfman son lo mejor

  • I wanted the Aliens to win.

  • einfach nur ne geile melodie.

  • I want the people to know that they still have 2 out of 3 branches of the government working for them, and that ain't bad!

  • Thank God For Slim Whitman...

  • Apparently, War of the Monsters borrowed designs from this movie for the characters in the game.

  • to good actors for a 2 stars movie

  • Don't run, we are your friends.

  • @XXLSSBBW or that guy's translator was inverting everything the alien said, or the martians saw a menace in this bird

  • shit yeah! such an ace title sequence! now i just need somewhere to download it from D=

  • This is the best opening title I have ever seen. I love this orchestra.

  • YAY!!! I hope this happens in real life!!!

  • @GreenRobotStudios you want big-headed aliens to come and kill half of the planet including the president himself along with the first lady and that they all die with a nice song from slim whitman? yeah, sure...

  • @ezinhadinali I respond thusly,

    "ACK... ACK...ACK! ACK! AAACK!!!"

  • @GreenRobotStudios (high-pitched) ack ack ackack ack *nice planet, we'll take it*

  • @GreenRobotStudios hawhaw nice one!

  • It's my favorite opening title, perhaps the best of all time. And the music is just perfect, gotta love the use of theremin together with epic orchestra and choir.

  • I love the fact thats its paying homage to ed wood's b movies.

  • Sweet! I just love title sequences that already begin telling the story, and it is done here with the perfect combination of graphics and music. This is one of Elfman's most fitting and epic themes, without a doubt!

  • that's so good , thank you!!

  • Thanks for up loading!!! it was on tv last night and it was fun Watching it :D

  • It's funny that every one of Tim Burton's films that I have watched that my favorite scene is always the opening credits, because of Danny Elfman's great music, I can just jump and dance to it. I hope Tim and Danny will continue to work together because they can just make great films.

  • Wow this movie is great, even the sound effects,if you can see youll know, that the UFOS are rustyLOL.

  • sounds like the soviet march with aliens

  • YEAH LOL

  • Greatest movie eva!!!!!!!

  • ahh this is one of my favorite scores i love tim burtons movies, combined with danny elfmans compositions of brilliance, it is one word: AWESOME!!! :D

  • I just love the theme song!! Nice for a stop motion film like Lego star wars: battle droids march to the clones and Jedi!!

  • I just bought the soundtrack, cant wait to listen to this relentlessly everywhere.

Theres a quite interesting discussion between tim burton and ray harryhausen. I didnt realise till i saw it that the spaceships in this are more or less exact copies of those from his films.

search "tim burton ray harryhausen" if youre interested. I love those spaceships so much. so iconic, and as tim burton says they have so much character and personality.

  • like a giant pum cakes lol the best part is saucer is pum cakes

  • OMG I LOVETHE MUSIC DANNY ELFMAN DOSE.

Like the music from nightmare before christmas, edward sissorhands, charly and the chacolate factory. etc

  • ptin j'adore tim burton !!!!

  • The descending French horn notes near the end is the best part.

  • Amazing. Just amazing. I can listen to this for hours and never get tired of it.

  • Check out the Trailer for "Iron Sky", it will be similar to Mars Attacks! but with Nazis from Space. :D

  • Amazing credits!!

  • ive never seen it before is it scary or weird?

  • Both. (x

  • and funny!

  • This was one of the best pieces Elfman created...kind of a weird shock troop military thing coupled with the choirs and weird 1950s vibe.

  • Fake why? It's the film theme :S

  • jcroldan89, what is "fake" about this? What are you referring to?

  • THEY BLEW UP CONGRESS HAHAHA

  • people emagin if this happend tommarow think ? and the wepons we have now he he

  • i fuckin love this theme

  • I was like a slave to this movie when i was a kid. I loved it, every time i went to the movie rental place, this was the first movie on my mind! Brings back such great memories, and I still think about it every now and then. I love this movie!!!!!

  • I LOVE TIM BUTRONS MUSIC HES A ARTIST

  • I like Burton's films but I didn't like this one... Music is awesome anyway !!!

  • how come no one puts the movie by parts?

  • Tim Burton and Danny Elfman is a master.

  • Tim Burton was given an absurd amount of money to make an alien B-movie. He spent it all on great actors and made them act badly. He's a freakin genius!!!

  • Lol-He and George Lucas should get together...

  • What a great song, but that is to be expected considering how cool the movie was! The song does a great job of capturing the red planet Mars, the god of war.

  • This movie is so... charming XD

  • i loved this movie

  • I really love this movie!

Tim Burton is my favourite director and there's no film I didn't like!

Music great! Danny Elfman is a great composer!

    Thanks for the video ^^

  • One of the most savagely underrated films of the 90's.

It's supposed to be tacky, it's supposed to be fake, it's supposed to be corny -- and it's frankly an awful film.

...which is exactly why it's one of the best of the decade.

What mainstream contemporary director apart from Burton would've done it?

I love every single second of it -- from the first head-popping to the last.

  • i like the being of the movie and i'am addicted to the music

  • Thnx 4 uploading this!(been searching for along time)By the way, where did you get this clip?

  • just seeing all those UFO's gives me the creeps

  • me too.

  • where can i get an armada like that? it rivals with irken armada

  • This is a highly underrated film.

This score is suberb. It still gives me chills because you know a great movie is soon to follow. Danny Elfman is the John Williams of the quirky set. Seriously, if I make a film, he's the first on my list of composers I'd want. Actually he's the only one on my list.

  • I'm addicted to this music..!

  • It's like Independence Day and War of the Worlds!!!! Genius!!!!!!

  • It's one of Burton's best, and an obvious homage to that filmmaker that so fascinates him, Edward Wood.

But more than that, it's a terrific little comment on American post-nuclear fears...or even Europe's less discussed vulnerability in that matter.

    Ack...ackackack.

  • A musical and filmatic riff on "The Day The Earth Stood Still" opening titles sequence. However, because Burtan and Elfman are so talented in their own right this is extremely effective on its own.

  • I wish this score was longer, I love it. Danny Elfman is a genius :)

  • This scene with the classic shape of "flying saucers" is a nice nod to all the B-movies of yesterday.

  • All flying in formations like how the balls on a pool table are set up.

  • One of mt favorite opening title sequences of all time. So haunting and moody. The music is amazing.

  • Damn! So many ships... I wish I can command and lead a fleet to battle THAT massive!

  • I saw this when I was 4 years old. My dad said this was alll real O_O COULD YOU IMAGINE HOW FREAKED OUT I WAS???????

  • 2:06-2:37 is the best bit of score

  • Exactly

  • Well this is one of the most memorable movie openings of all time, simply amazing!

  • "COOL"!!!

  • can you get the full movie?

  • Outstanding!

  • I love this music. A take of that very 50's sci-fi horror.

  • This music is brilliant, I love it.

  • Whit Burton and Elfman you just can´t go wrong, Burton makes a kick ass movie and Elfman compose scores lifts the whole movie to the next level.

  • This is my favorite Elfman score.

    It's a treasure.

  • It sounds an awful lot like the music he wrote for Forbidden Zone back in 1980... The opening titles are here on youtube, if you want to hear them. This thing won't let me post a url or I'd give you the direct link. If you search "forbidden zone" it's the third video down.

  • Gotta love it.

  • Finaly a way to listen to it withoufgt downloading realplayer

  • A classic opening sequence - world domination - Martian style!

  • Thank you for uploading this :D I agree it's an amazing peice of music :P
