Ironically, there are tons of people who do LPs and reviews as bad as Vib113 did here, but as seen in the various Retsupuraes on "camcorder LPs" as they're often called, a lot of these people inexplicably get (what was back then) 5 stars and tons of positive feedback. Like Darkness and Rijno used to do, but somehow only some SA goons, such as Slowbeef and Diabeetus (plus some EDiots) actually called them out on their poor video-making.
I mean the original source material is gone. DJCuellRebirth has a commentary of it up. But there are surprisingly few commentaries on the video. Maybe if you ask DJCuellRebirth to upload a mirror to the video, it will become another commentary subject. Then again, it's not necessarily worth it to commentate on a video made by a user who's not on YT anymore.

I don't understand how Contra gets a bad rap for being difficult. I don't consider myself an awesome gamer, but I beat it with more lives than I started with nearly every time. Although, I learned to play it with the 30 lives code.
I started out on a IBM "portable" pc(I could barely lift the keyboard, let alone the whole pc) where you had to load DOS into mem from a 5,25" floppy before loading the game.
I did receive an upgrade to an Atari 2600 soon after that though.

You know what's weird, I just talked to Vic on Skype recently, he is nothing like he did that review, he even told me that he hate his old reviews. Shocker
As for the editing thing, if I'm right about his camera, it records in a quicktime mpeg4 format. Yes, I know it's easy enough to convert it to a raw RGB format, but I doubt this kid really understands how to use virtualdub, let alone windows movie maker.
As for the camera, I can almost guarantee it's an easy share. I have one that has the same video compression artifacts, the same fuzzy-graininess, and the same bright orange red indicator like that looks like a laser. Also, similar sound.
And him saying Rambo's better than Contra... the real AVGN would not agree with him. (Watch his Rambo review about 5:40 in and you'll see what I mean)
If you are that young and you decide to review on YT and you decide to be "angry", you could AT LEAST not review one of the GREAT games everyone loves. I mean, you'd still suck, but you wouldn't get made fun of as much.
I can't fit all that is wrong with this review into one comment...NES games don't need to tell you where to go, why you're there or even give you a health bar. Games like Contra are hard because it is how to forge a true gamer. Most modern games hold your hand and let everything be forgiven with regenerating health. These games are hard but each death is your fault...you watch as the bullets hit you!
Who cares why you're fighting; be like Han and shoot first :)

I think that red dot was from his camera. Some cameras have red LEDs to indicate that it is recording.

I remember playing this as a young child (maybe 8-9 years old) and I got through it in a couple of tries (after I got through it with the 30 lives code). I personally thought that the second Zelda game was much harder. But both games was/is great =).

As for the editing thing, if I'm right about his camera, it records in a quicktime mpeg4 format. Yes, I know it's easy enough to convert it to a raw RGB format, but I doubt this kid really understands how to use virtualdub, let alone windows movie maker.
As for the camera, I can almost guarantee it's an easy share. I have one that has the same video compression artifacts, the same fuzzy-graininess, and the same bright orange red indicator like that looks like a laser. Also, similar sound.

I can't fit all that is wrong with this review into one comment...NES games don't need to tell you where to go, why you're there or even give you a health bar. Games like Contra are hard because it is how to forge a true gamer. Most modern games hold your hand and let everything be forgiven with regenerating health. These games are hard but each death is your fault...you watch as the bullets hit you!
Who cares why you're fighting; be like Han and shoot first :)

@hepotitus But then again, there are some NES games where you die because of crappy controls-- look at Dragon's Lair and The Terminator, for example.
And I do know of SOME NES games where you do indeed need a little help in telling you where to go... like Bart vs. the World, for instance. (If you've seen James' review, you might know what I'm talking about)
