Let's just be completely realistic right up front.........Mariah was FINE AS ALL HELL "back in the day"......and she still is; she was just a "baby" in this clip. With all that being said......there's SO much more to Mariah Carey than physical beauty, as we all should fully realize. She has been the premiere female vocalist of the past 2 decades (in my ever-so-humble opinion), and her recent blessing of motherhood has finally given her the happiness that she has given the world for so long.
Not that it should matter, but she did say that her dad's grandmother was Venezuelan. Just like my dad's grandmother is white. Her dad is a black man and her mom is white.
I love the vintage Mariah stuff. I'm not too into the new stuff she makes. It's all material that can be done by anyone, it seems. But NO ONE can do the vintage Mariah, except Mariah. I've already seen that video. I'm stating Mariah history of statement I've been reading about her since I was six. She used to be my life I bought ever magazine, book, and recorded ever interview I could. She can say what she wants now but she can't change what she said in the past. someone here said that she was probably shy and nervous in this interview. that may be true. but i liked her style then. she had a way about her that could have developed into something very classy and elegant over the years, even with her musical style just as it is. for years, she's had a sex kitten quality that kind of overshadows her talent. developing the persona in this clip would have served her better in the long-run. just my opinion.

STLEO1 Your're so wrong. The father's seed determs wether the baby is male or female. The colour of the skin can be a mixture of both parents or the skin colour of one of the parents. There are millions of children with a WHITE FATHER and a BLACK MOTHER that have a brown skin colour.
Even mixed race parents with a brown skin colour can have a white blonde child! Marcia (& Millie) Biggs are the prove for that.

Why that stupid black/white question? Although Mariah's parents are black & white, she is clearly white. Skin colour is not important (to me), the music is!!! Though I'm not so much of a fan of her music today, I really loved her between 1990-1998.

She was not stating orgins. She didn't even mention her dad's mother. Mariah has gone thru a lot over this race thing. She didn't mention her race until she was dubbed another white girl trying to sound black. She pointed out her gospel roots came from her black grandmother. Then shortly added her dad was half black and had a Venezuelan father to account for her appearence. Then stated there was a lot of misprints that her dad was a Black Venezuelan, but it was incorrect he had a black mother

I've already seen that video. I'm stating Mariah history of statement I've been reading about her since I was six. She used to be my life I bought ever magazine, book, and recorded ever interview I could. She can say what she wants now but she can't change what she said in the past. How long have you been following her? Because Mariah stated that interview as if she thinks the audience already knows about her background, they should she's been saying 20 years now

and a Venezuelan father. Mariah also said for years that she was raise to believe that she was black, Venezuelan, and Irish and to never let anybody tell her she was one thing because all of those races made up who she was. This was back when if you're black you're black was rule and Mariah fought to change this ideal stating bi-racial child she acknowledge all races and not just the dominant one.
