why is the actual in game naval fights never take place near the shore. I think the total war games should have sea landing battles where the invaders have to row marines to shore in order to fight the land part while the ships provide artillery support. The defenders have to push the invaders back into the sea, and sink or rout the attackers support ships with their land artillery (24 pounders and rockets work best)

theres one thing in all the total war games I've played. There's no actual strategy in conquering cities. There are no key cities, nothing that would give you an advantage over your enemies. All cities are the same, you can build the same things, train the same units. No difference.

Well, it's NOT..!!! This is a STUPID online game that is not labeled in the box...

And you cannot play it straight from your desktop; you need RIGHTS and PERMISSIONS and other kinds of BS from their "STEAM" server....

While you shelled out $40 bucks, just to find out that you cannnot ACCESS the game because their stupid server "STEAM" is always busy or they will have you ON WAIT to up to 6 or 7 hours..!!! - D O N O T B U Y T H I S G A M E..!!!

I love the 18th Century battles, I am not sure why a lot of people say they do not want em no more :(...

Though I would like to see a lot more 18th Century and a RTW 2...Shogun 2 is coming out in the 2011s..

If they come out with a 18th century one...need the whole world to be able to dominate...and have the natives involved more...and it seems to have the battles a bit more difficult and intense :). Oh and a civil USA War..be the south and change history, just for fun ^^.

i personally think that EMPIRE is more fun and better than NAPOLEON TW cuz it has more nations to play as and the campaign map is also much bigger with NORTH AMERICA and INDIA

i also like being able to play as native americans :D

the only thing better about NTW is that it runs much smoother

I dont know what I think of Empire total war. Alot of things is really good like for example the politics and technology researchs etc, but the ground battles are so much boring than the medievils games. So basically I love everything with empire total war except the actual battles modes.

Napoleon is better then Empire to me in all levels except the campaign like i found mods so you can play as every faction so that doesent annoy me the part that annoys me is the fact that there is no India or North America which i think they should of added atleast the middle east in the grand campaign

Medieval II total War was the last great total war game. I hope they never do another 18th century onwards game again. 17th century is the max. Keep naval battles however.

@DarthFanta I only have ever had one problem. And it was easily fixed. When it came out it was pretty bad, but with the latest patch its pretty solid for me. 0 problems and they finally know how to use the fortifications. Dont get me wrong the others are GREAT but Im loving empire lately.

you have a hard disk and yes an ssd with a 256mb cache is faster than your 7200 rpm 8-32mb solid disk. at least thats what I have read in reviews... dropping 2000$ for the dang thing isn't my cuppa tea.

also to see what type of hard disk you have open the side of your computer and look for a rectangle below the front of the case. It will be the metal case connected to your motherboard and cd/dvd drive. also hdd can be very fast in RAID but thats alot of money as well. Also you should Defrag your drive after installation of empire to help your hdd seek time.
