It depends, most part of the time yes but for lines I use the pick, also use it to pluck entire chord sometimes, watch carefully !

Great playing ! I play it on a nylon string classical, I think that's what he used..Did you figure this all out yourself, or did you find a transcribed version? Myself, I pulled it off the album by ear, have almost got to the end, but I can see where your version differs from mine, so I was curious as to whether it was sheet music ( not to take away from your playing, it's great)..

For the 'gimme the tabs' guys here, there has been a transcription of the song from the Virtuoso album. I believe it was in the Guitar Player or Guitar World magazine, around 2000. Or better yet, figure it out by ear, it will help your playing immensely!
