One's obesity may not be determined (deterministically caused by) genetics,
but it CAN be determined by environment: again, something that is outside of a person's control. The environment - the whole universe - is a "big ass place", so there is no reason it wouldn't be THE biggest factor in affecting a person's outcome in life (and not just their weight or health, but overall quality of life, finances, etc).
Im sorry, but genetics do play a role to a certain extent. Its not that people with genetics to be obese cant ever lose weight or even keep it off, but they have to work 5x as hard as a normal person.
i do not agree with this fellow 100 years ago you had very few obese people but now with food additives about how many hours you are expected to work shift work all these thing are definatilly effecting our health , As soon as he quoats the us government i lost interest in what you had to say
and explain why in my family all woman end up being overweight regardless of their very different life style. My aunt who workouts and gives aerobic classes is slightly thinner then her sisters, but not much considering all the intense physical activities she does and her healthy diet.
I take example on my aunt and have to work my butt off just to maintain a not to bad line.
@picklesloveslight Maybe someone should inform her that anaerobics is what burns fat, not aerobics. You see *joggers* with a beergut who can do a half marathon, but you don't see a fat 100m dasher.
I don't believe this either .. have starved myself often and barely lost weight. My aunt is extremely active and does plenty of sports, she has always been a bit chubby. Every single woman in my family is. Why? I don't know.. but I do my best, workout a lot and am careful of what I eat.
I do think that some people ''could'' loose weight if they really put their minds to it, but I really believe in genetics to.
if we return to the lifestyle of our ancestors which means lots of animal protein, fruits, vegetables and sun exposure we can all optimize our health. I know it because I did it .
obese people have low metabolism, too much sugar intake and too much uncontrolled stress
This is what you should do
Go out in the sun and sunbathe, eat coconut oil to stabilize your metabolism, cut out all sugar especially processed at most eating 1 fruit a day and eat only unprocessed natural foods, last but not least learn some breathing exercises to handle stress
I honestly believe that the assumption that one who is "skinny" will not gain weight, given they "stuff themselves" is false.I'll use myself as an example. I used to think that no matter what I ate,I would not gain weight. I never counted calories, ate whatever I wanted. Then, in analyzing my diet,I realized that indeed I was not eating THAT much;it just seemed like I was because of the way I was eating, not how much or what I was eating. This is a very loaded subject, please research it some more.
Found your video very interesting....Especially because you are letting the truth out of the bag...
Hope you take a look at the website, it is deeply rooted into finding the truths about the obesity epidemic that is "plaguing" Society today. Please continue to do what your doing , because it is needed...
I agree. Most of my family is obese; however, I managed to get down to a size 2 with diet/exercise. My mother told me that high blood pressure runs in our family: I told her we have high blood pressure because we're fat! My blood pressure since I have been running is extremely low. Genes play a much smaller role that we know. If I eat too much, and become sedentary; I will gain weight. My goal is to keep moving.
I agree. Those who use bad genes as a crutch for their obesity issues need only look at the likes of the Ethiopians, Kenyans... and ask why it is those people are not overweight. Its more about ones lifestyle than his/her genes. I've never seen a fat Ethiopian.
@sonicstep ya, so that's why obama is skinny, cause of his kenyan genes :P or simply he expresses the genes as "Yes We Can" Thank you satan backwards...
I hear what you are saying, and you are right. However, you just cannot deny the fact that it is a lot easier for some. I have seen really thin people, or pear shaped people with washboard stomachs cram food down their throat like it going out of style, and I have also seen people who only eat maybe one or two meals a day who are a bit more than obese. Neither of these people regularly engaged in exercising either. There is truth to BOTH arguments.
plus some people eat alot in an effort to get the nutrients they need but can not get because the food today is genetically modified to grow fast and with litttle nutrient value.
I don't accept that its peoples fault and that they are lazy...some people really react to those growth hormones..and girls mature really early because of the female hormones injected into the animals..ever wonder why there are so many men having problems with their sexuality...now you know why..and its done on purpose..to weaken the males position in life
I don't disagree that is a factor but there are other factors like toxins in the food, low nutrient dense foods like refined sugar and white flour, high fat content diets, diets with few natural fruits and vegetables, sedentary life styles, etc. etc. etc.
i know sooo many fat people who say "i'm fat because of genetics" i know 1, yes, 1 person who is fat and is very active. The rest never get off their fat asses.
Let me just say that while he is mostly right, genetics may not make you completely the way you are however, they can make it more difficult to keep from or to lose weight, I mean you can love to eat healthy and be active and still be overweight. I personally eat salads and healthy food and I am fat, but I have friends who spend 10 bucks on lunch a day and buy up half the taco bell menu for lunch and they are like 120lbs so to say that nature isn't a key part is wrong.
you talk slow... i think your videos could be better if youre more to the point.
but anyways, yeah, i think it's nurture mostly as well. if youre brought up with fatty foods and not a lot of exercise, it will stay for life (most likely). also, the adult will (subconsciously or not) relate those fatty foods to happy times when they were with their parents having fun, receiving attention, and being carefree.
Fantastic Video. Please can you give me your views on my recent diagnosis: Hashimoto's Thyrioditis - Antibody reading 1000+. All the woman in my family have this disease. I've gained weight through inactivity due to chronic fatigue associated with Hashimoto's. How do I control this and get into a more positive cycle. How can I change these genes?

LOL I wanna raise something. What if your parents gave you ugly facial features? Do you even have a choice?
What if your family had a history of cancer? Is it even in your control?
Silverlenses4 2 years ago
To the first: yes plastic surgery :P
To the second yes take regular check ups at a hostpital, so you can start treatment asap, should a doctor find anything.
Also support cancer research, genetic therapy research and stemcell reasearch.

The severe obesity problem is from low nutrient foods that are from animals that are given growth hormones and then those homones get in you..
