"The U.S. government is the biggest impediment to job growth. Having built a small business into a big one, I can tell you that today the impediments that the government imposes are impossible to deal with. Home Depot would never have succeeded if we'd tried to start it today. Every day you see rules and regulations from a group of Washington bureaucrats who know nothing about running a business. And I mean every day. It's become stifling." --Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus to Investor.com
@joskemom The first thing on the cutting block is programs that help those who need the help. And those who don't need the help but have the money to pay to get it are protected from such talk as cutting their share. A person who has not received a raise in 10 years while cost for everything has gone up needs to "pitch in" while the companies who make record profits are told they don't have to. A company can takes a cut in their PROFITS and survive. A person losing their job can not.
@joskemom Barak Obama didn't kill one job the companies did. No matter their reasons. Fanny/Freddie are as important to the financial crash as much as butterflies are to hurricanes. But they where dem backed so they become talking points. Talk about how the top 5 "U.S" Corporations who make trillions didn't pay a red cent in taxes to the U.S. And also receive billions from the tax payer. Why are companies who hold our livelihoods hostage favored, while the Working Class is treated as leeches?
I heard the in the month of March our govt spent 8 times more than it took in. How the hell is that sustainable? Today 22.5 million work for the govt compared to 11.5 million in manufacturing. Govt workers are paid by the private sector tax payers-thus a nation of takers and not makers. The stim bill was a trillion dollar waste. Not only can America not afford another 4 yrs of Obama, America can not survive another 4 yrs of this guy. Oh yea, govt shut down, who is he going to blame for that?
now it's march 20 and nothings been done to make it easier for employers to hire new people and put america back to work, all i'm hearing about is healthcare this and healthcare that, please do something to help us president obama.
so now it's the middle of feburary 2010 and still nothing has been done to help create american jobs for average people, what are you waiting for washington?.
What he says and what he does are rather dramatically different, aren't they?
They're open to nothing except tax...regulate out of existence...and tax some more. And they can't figure out why businesses don't want to try and grow right now....truly idiots.
what a joke= what an idiot= this guy is the biggest joke this nation has ever seen, a bunch of dumbass brainwashed gov educated idiots voted a totally useless person to the office of president, jobs summit, this guy and his admin know nothing about jobs, these people we have in power now are more dangerous to this nation than hitler was, these left wing idiots must be stopped or our nation will be finished, if the american people do not wise up by 2010, its over
ah damn, there is going to be a job summit to fix the economy? Hey what a good idea. We dont want to make any 'ill considered decisons' like Obama care, the 758 gazzillion stimulus bill, the dumb ass cap and tax bill, or eliminating the Bush tax cuts. It is good to know that not much gets by this President. With unempoyment at 10.2% he is just going to throw up his hands and let other people figure it out. Yea the great decision maker--what is up with the Afgan war?
@joskemom If you have it, why are you saying that unemployment went down during Bushes 2 terms? 4.2 - 7%+ is not going down... And It started to go up as soon as he was elected meaning he was not the cause but something elses. He didn't have power and you can make the arguement that the employers started firing people as soon as he got elected. Well if that is the case it means you are still blaming the wrong person...
@JRMCNEA Look past the numbers for the reason why. Here is the debate-the dems took control of congress in 2006, these same dems protected the fanni/freddie program when the reps tried to end it because they saw that it would blow up. The housing market blew up, along with higher gas prices that caused the car companies to go down. Many bizz people did not want Obama to become prez because they knew he would be a danger to the private sector. When he won the bizz world went downhill.
Obama and his stupid economic advisers, 2 of which were from leftist UC Berkeley, of all places, claimed the stimulus would create 3-4 million new jobs by the end of 2010. And now Obama is going back on his claim and has to finally admit that his economic package has been a total failure thus far. Great..
I mean, if his stimulus, in his mind, "worked", he'd still cling to it and say "Wait for the results", rather than rushing to some jobs summit bs.
@whoo689 well, at least one from Berkeley (Romer of course). Jared Bernstein taught at, among other places, HOWARD college, one of those affirmative action "historically black college" places for underachieving black kids who can't get into a regular college.
Umm, umm how about Undoing the take over/bailouts of failing businesses? Bring our troops home. End the Fed and go back to Constitutional money. End the capital gains tax, End the federal income tax. Repeal all the "mandates". Send all the excess federal employees back to the private sector to create jobs & businesses. Stop subsidizing schools so people have to find or make jobs. The jobs summit is really just a way to make his favorite business people feel good about themselves.
"It's important we don't make any ill-considered decisions" Humm, why does the Stimulus Bill, Spending Bill, Cash for Clunkers and the Healthcare Bill all come to mind?
Does this remind anyone else of Herbert Hoover after the stock market crash? He also got a bunch of business leaders together and tried to convince them to "do the right thing" to save the econ. Didn't work at all!
No, it's all about him. He doesn't care if jobs are created. He and his liberal, socialists are all about grabbing power, and controling people. He wants all of us to eat out of his hand. This man is no American, no friend of America, and a ruthless wannabe dictator. Resign you fraud, RESIGN!
I judge based on your homepage rant, that your reply here is simply anti-Rush. That's your Constitutional Right in the Agora. So I'll file it in the galactic bit-bucket. :^)

Barru, I think you're confusing inflation and artificial temporary boom with REAL and LASTING growth.
The only people to have benefited from the stimulus are the corporations who float shares and the traders that buy and sell them.
Don't forget where this money comes from.

Doesn't the fact that he has to do a "jobs summit" in November just reveal that his stimulus is a total failure??

But what happened to those "shovel-ready" projects were supposed to arrive within 6 months or so of the stimulus package being implemented?
