@ziveoTITO Gentlemen, Please! Do not USE bad language in the expression of your opinion. Take a deep breath through your nose and gently exhale through the mouth. Life is good!!! Be positive and help others, Oleg.
@ThePacho15 Lol. I didn't notice the flag, but I saw the writing things with the Japanese looking characters and I was a bit confused for a second. >_<
@SystemaSpetsNaz Do you think i could find a place to learn systema in central Texas... Rednecks around here will attack you for no good reason what-so-ever. Plus it looks like good exercise.
very nice, love the use of the "x" block..which is underated in my humble opinion. most often a person will face an untrained and angry opponent coming in with a kitchen knife or screwdriver in the heat of the moment. a trained knife fighter will cut you before you know it happened and thats a different situation which i am sure this instructor understands. just as one must train against a wild puncher instead of a boxer
I love your knife disarms, very controlled and aiki. I am a currently Russian Martial Arts Group teacher and I like the way you mixed Aikido with your Systema.
Well, I've always learned at my local Karate dojo, that if someone pulls a knife on you, you should look for a weapon yourself (a chair, bag, your jacket, etc.) to even out the odds, but if you haven't got an option, it's better to face the attacker and do something that MIGHT save you, instead of turning away and surely die.. There's never any guarantee. Great vid by the way!
All of this breaks down completely if your opponent actually has some MA training... escpecially knife training. However, I'd like to see some sparring footage. A rubber knife is fine, but your attacker should really be trying to stab you. Convince me this is for real, plz.
I wish I can learn the spetnaz system ! the only problem is I don't know where to get a master trainer or a book or a cd !!! I live in Canada ! and in my city ! it's very rare to see spetnaz training center ! I played kick boxing , karate for almost 4 years ! but never found unique techniques like in the spetNaz system !
Oleg. Can u tell me what do u think about my philosophy against knives: Dont try to focus to the knive but to opponents head or genetals ?How i like to say it is: Straight forward motion as a straight blast attack and focus to the head if dealing with knives. If not. Then same thing basicly but then u can have more control and focus on taking down more than punching etc. to ones head and kill him prolly by mistake or cause alot of unecessary damage. Peace. Learn, Know, LIVE!
@Sheikkailija Philosophy is good - but in combat there is no time think - all you can do is survive - every situation is unpredictable - do what it takes to save your life - it is a legal right of any individual.
@SystemaSpetsNaz Yes. This i understand. Philosophy can only be motion, to me its whatever in life that i do :) I was just talking about a basic idea wich i myself would for now use in a real-life situation as i see it the best way for now. But i wouldnt think about doing it. If the time comes i just go for it right away if the situation requires it. If it doesnt i adapt to the situation in another way by maybe running away or something else. Whatever works ! :) Peace. Oh. And nice video!
@Sheikkailija When you speak about the counterattacks against knife with punching to the head etc.,I remember one real example that this does not work very well - see ?v=szzyRPOuCfU - the guy,who counter-attacked against the knife in this video was killed (bleed out from stabbs).
I would personally say,if you really have to defend against knife and have no another option (e.g. to run and escape),it is absolutely vital that you really must focus on the knife (or better said the hand holding it).
@MonsterCutter He does show ways of dealing with the knife hand. And how is it that someone who's being punched in the face knows how to use there knife so well?
This should be taught to every police force worldwide.. its a brilliant system, and will save lots of live's....I use it regularly on the Doors at work.. Dickheads just don't know whats hit them when you give them a bit of Russian.
the path of least resistance is the best way to defend against a knife attack. as i've learned "you can only be slashed, stabbed or cut so many ways. the area of of attack is the area of the knife's utility, i.e. the point or edge(s)", and with that, the directional action of the attack also has to be accounted. you don't want to focus soley on the knife, but the extension of the arm wielding it. that is your area of control. the direction of the blade is first account, but the arm is foremost.
The only reason these moves may seem slow is because otherwise the viewer may not know what the hell is happening. If this guy actually gets you in his grip you will cry like a little girl, so consider this before commenting
this is really beautiful stuff. over the last 20 years i have studies any number of fighting styles, but never this one. i think i'll dedicate some time to finding out more about this.
You should block the thumb, You do not take that in consideration. He could still move his wrist and cut yours. By the way I saw a tid bit of Goju ryu karate, is russian martial arts a mix of different martial arts?
You are welcome to try it yourself - the door of my school is open! You can attack me with a knife and I'll do a "fake" defense! And make sure - I'll video tape it for YOU TUBE!
No. That's not TKD. I'm not bashing on TKD because I currently train in TKD myself, and we also use some of those same techniques, and a lot of the same strike lines just in a different way. However this is not traditional TKD. (which can be more than ITF), there's a Japanese flag in the background, it's definitely Jiu Jitsu.
I asked so many martial art masters about unarmed vs knife fights, they all gave me the same reply, "avoid it, you can win but will still be badly carved." So, is there any actual practical solution to unarm a knife?
Become your attacker in every way - reflect the energy. Life is a chance - the choice is personal. To win is to take a chance - and to loose is to avoid the chance to survive. There are no masters - life is one big lesson.
@SystemaSpetsNaz i do not say that your moves for stopping it aren't good but you must put something more against experianced knife fighters because even from the way the guy is holding the knife at the video he represents an "amateur" with a knife
@ThePacho15 i agree. but wouldnt you say that the odds are better you would face an untrained person who just goes with the " ice pick" strike or flails wildly? i personally get hit far more often by my begining students than my trained ones because they are so unpredictable. i think thats the paradox, we can sometimes overtrain for the situation and overlook the obvious . i teach the "x" block because i figure if the attacker knows how to reverse, trap and cut, then you already lost .
You have a good head on your shoulders- keep questioning the answers and seek realistic training methods and a correct world view- our mind is the most dangerous weapon.
i was told the same really, you can try but just make sure your prepared to get cut because if you go in thinking you are going to perform a 100 percent clean disarm and u do get cut it will completely ruin your state of mind and put u off increasing your chances of getting cut to ribbons
Can anyone help me. What if your combatants height and weight outnumber you. Would you still be able to kick their ass. This is top quality i want to be able to do this kind of stuff.
