For a start ! You Play fine....! Fuck Them ! Read a review of this amp and it got almost top marks and now i know why ! Best amp i`ve heard tonight ! I want one ! Peace Ye`all !!
This amp will end up in my collection soon enough. By the way I don't get why people feel a need to say that the toneking is not a great player. If you folks want to listen to shredders pretending to do reviews but who are in fact trying to wow you with their solos, there are plenty of those on youtube. Great job toneking! Keep those reviews coming.
@johndcofdc yeah .... this is a review remember people want to hear chords ring out not 10 notes per second its not like this one of those wow look at me videos theres plenty of other worse players out there on here.
people who take the time to review equipment for us should be encouraged, try offering some constructive criticism some time you could have just said he could work on his technique a other than the typical "you suck"
@kakabulle243 sure...you can get a decent ac/dc type tone out of it but if your gonna play that harcore metal youll want a effex pedal in your chain like a metal zone or smashbox
this seems like a cool little amp. While I realize the point was give people a no nonsense design similar to what Mike Soldano builds by hand at lower power and more affordably, I think I would like it more if it had switch to drop it to 5 watts or lower. 20 watts is still too loud for at home by myself, but perfect for small venues. With 5 watts you could at least get the amps sweet spot without peeling the paint off the walls.
@venomzombie The gauge of strings is nowhere related to how much of a man that player is. It's strictly a preference thing. For example Darrell used a custom set going from 10 to 52. So in that case Darrell would be a baby in comparison to a 15 year old jazz player who feels comfortable with a set of 11-54?
@Ningirsutyr Agreed, it can also stem from laziness haha my floyd rose guitar came with 9-42 on it, and I dont want a hassle with setting up the bridge for my normal 10-46
I am wondering are the tones this amp gets going to be real similar to the jca20 combo. This thing rocks but I would like the reverb the combo offers..
@lboyd2506 The reverb on the combo leaves some to be desired. If you're used to a fenderish reverb it is nothing like it, more of a vox like subtle-er quieter reverb. Hope this helps!
hey tone king, do you think this amp has enough gain for 80s metal tones with a boost metal? i had a marshall dsl 100 and its gone so i need to replace it but im having trouble findin something at a good price that can give me a good replacement for the marshall i had =/
I wouldn't even waste my money on this amp, no effects loop no reverb one channel, I mean come on American consumers you should demand more for your money. You can pick up a used B52 at series for about the same price with tons more features but you better know an amp tech
You need to learn some songs or get someone else to demo for you, you play with no passion you are dry and sound like shit. Goddamnit learn some fucking songs it's not fucking rocket science.
these are great for everything softer than metal... so there good for hardcore 70s aerosmith-type hard rock! and then the clean is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
never seen that type of fret board!!!!!! the amp sounds good, plus the price is good you can get it for like 299!!!!!!!!!!! the Jet City Amplification JCA24S 2x12 Guitar Speaker Cabinet!!!! great deal.
for all of you wondering, this amp is KING of affordable tube amps. i own this, and for the price, you cannot go wrong. after buying this, i got rid of my tiny terror...and i used to swear on orange.
@cityskyline13 i used to swear at Orange alot too before i sold mine....the VOX NT killed the Tiny for me so i sold it. then i traded the NT toward a Mesa rect-o-verb that i now use all the time.
But I liked your guitar. which brand is that ? The amp is not bad but sounds like it lacking something on the mids and highs. A better playing would be more attractive. Good gear has always good players around.
Hey Cartgo - This was not mic'd up - I was using the mic on the cam when shooting this video. My 'official review' has it mic'd up. The guitar is a custom painted BC Rich guitar, which I bought from Ed Roman a few years back. The paint job is actually a lot nicer when looking at it - it sparkles, and blendsy pretty nicely. Thanks for noticing :-) !! Have a great day.
@TheCartgo You're an asshole. There is no reason to put down the player (who seems to be a very nice guy for not retaliating to your immature post). He is taking time out of his day to show an amp he owns, so stop talking a shit and get a life.
Jet City Amplification (Seattle) is rolling them out now.
Soldano is a partner. Designed here...made to specs in China. Can't wait to hear more, as there aren't many audio clips to sample yet, but their site is up & running.
I gotta say that I am really excited about this one. TTK, the reviews on the Bugeras and now this are fantastic. Cannot wait to get a full review on this amp.
Nice Sonding amp. I would like to see it have more power to play in mid size stages/arenas/clubs without miking it and it would still have some headroom to go....
I have the Bugera 333XL and love it with humbuckers, and I'm waiting for my Bugera V22 to enter my home Nov. 1. This amp sounds nice but not enough treble. Of course when anyone listens to an amp demo online, he is listening through computer speakers. Regardless, this sounded nice, but a big too round in comparison. Appreciate the ToneKing demos, almost as much as he does!
Apparently, you missed their whole mission statement: "We make great guitar amplifiers, and we make them affordable." I haven't exactly found a pricing list for them yet though.
because you are the Tone King ;) i would love some "real" reviews with both cheaper and expensive pickups, its so hard do decide when you can't test them all.
