Mason101: To be fair, Obama fully supports these benefits, while Republicans in a great majority don't. And you are right... that is their strategy... "numbers are down see... we don't need benefit extensions..." and then they proceed to accused the administration of socialism for helping jobless Americans. Obama wants to be able to say that he is improving the unemployment rate. When someones unemployment runs out, they are no longer factored into the unemployment rate hence, when a million people's benefits are cut, the rate decreases because they no longer count. They are swept under the carpet. There are a few Senators which understand this and are actively working to improve that situation- Stabenow (D) of MI in particular..its one huge game of chess

I have been searching for a job since last year while going further into debt with college to get a degree that may or may not get me a job. After some 250+ applications from fast food to "big box" retail solutions I had exactly 2 interviews. I hope they do pass the bill. I have worked ALL my life and never once got help. I paid my dues. I was "offered" a early retirement in July. However, I'm too young to get a pension check. Therefore, I get nothing! People that took the same deal in September got help with COBRA and unemployment benefits, that keeps getting extended. I feel that I got used! I have had to use my savings to live ..... It was either take the package or get lost .... I guess I got lost anyway ! People taking extended benefits are not even looking for jobs; screw you ! Enjoy your fishing trips !
