I have now seen this film three times. Once in regular 3D, and now twice in Imax 3D. THere is absolutely no comparison. Imax turns this experience into a gigantic thrill ride along with the fabulous audio in an Imax theatre...the experience becomes a game changer for cinema. I'm no kid...I turned 60 this year...Imax Tron is the best use of the venue ever....the scale of Tron in Imax is spectacular.

@marktse, nice Socialist addition to the Tron idea. but the theme by Clu 2 is Totalitarian Perfection, more to do with the Borg than Socialism. Still, Disney's watered down version of the the film is amazing visually, at least. Enjoy the film for its visual effects and the Son meets love and helps his father story line. The Matrix Comparisons are also appropiate, the simple but misleading complex background of the original Tron Story lost to modern Comercialism and Marketing.

@Wolfen443 if anything it was more religious and biblical in idea. You have Fynn, the creator, the god of that world, clu 2. his greatest creation with the most potential for good turned fallen betrayer, the son who was this obvious Jesus metaphor who comes to the land to save them. Clu wasn't assimilating as much as he was purifying the world from random life and in the deleted scenes they were to explain more that the ISOs were destabilizing the world making it less stable.

@Wolfen443 Feeling less important and no longer loved by his creator, Clu was jealous of the ISOs or perhaps he felt Fynns idea for incorporating this imperfect random variable made the world less perfect setting him up to fail but in his quest for perfection. What wasn't clear was how he decided that perfection could only be found in the real world. Why he wanted to go to the real world with the army he raised for?

This will be one of those movies that seem to be designed for a 3D-experience.

The only thing I don't like is that the computer world looks too much like ours. It's not filtered? When how easy it is to do these days and they still do like every other movie does nowadays and have CG backgrounds and real sets? The original wasn't all CG, it had an awesome visual look that this doesn't. Put a filter on to make it look more like the original.

@BWGgy The effects of the first one can never be duplicated. Most of it wasn't early CG, it was animation and massively overdone rotoscoping that gave it a unique look that can never be done again.

I agree it would have been cool to make it look a bit more like the original but let's face it, in order to make something broad enough to sell to an all-age audience, they have to do the crazy expensive effects that sell these days.

Tron is now a cult classic turned mainstream film franchise.
