@danieltabja I think he's acting as an antithesis to the likes of Angel, if you watch more of his shows you'll notice that he refutes any use of 'magic' or 'illusions'. In fact he uses many of these psychological misdirections to dispel the validity of Faith healers or Psychics. Obviously there's showmanship involved because it's TV, everything he does is entertaining, but at the same time honestly motivated.

This is an example of the process in which our brain perceives color. It is based on the "opponent color process". Every color is basically a mixture of blue,green, yellow,or red...with our brain comparing opponent colors (blue vs. yellow, green vs. red, red vs. black). The order in which he lays the color out is important here. Once he "convinced" her that yellow was red, then her brain naturally saw red as black. How your brain sees one color, determines the other color.

look closely. he first established her right arm as the unsure side and the left the sure side. he just established her color thinking on the unsure side, then he brought his own color reasoning to the sure side and tricked her into seeing different colors. I'm not %100 sure (lol) but thats just my guess.

Yeah. Darren Brown has some pretty nice tricks, but some of them are just tricking the audience that he can do something that is not really possible. The trick here is that the viewer is fooled to thinking it can be done, solely by performing certain special actions (such as confusing them and tapping their arm like that).

That said, that sort of confusion can work in valid tricks though.

i think somehow he is playing on her fear of confrontation. most people don't feel comfortable confronting someone, especially a nice and persistent person, about how they disagree with their views. that's how he tapped into her subconscious. he'd have had a tougher time with a sturdy confrontational person. i'm sure he fails a lot and doesn't show those attempts.

Its called anchoring. Im not an expert by anymeans but kinda see what he did. He anchored 2 thoughts, one positive and uncertain and then a certain thought. The fact that she lived and was comfortable with that and moved the negative over to that and anchors the though by touching her sholder. Its a technique used in NLP.
