Peace, I made the video. That is me cycling, I was a messenger, but bikes are not my life. If anything, your negativity is the demise to the messenger community. If you really are a messenger, stay positive tomorrow, your day will be all the more better. My poor bike upkeep, that bike was a gift from a fellow messenger. Oh wow really wonderful video. Bike messengering in my city (Geneva, Switzerland) is so diffrent than this... much less traffic, no skyscrapers... Btw, How did you film it? Did you use cameras attached to a helmet like Nicolas Brunelle does or some sort of mini-cam?

thanks for the kind words! we just duct taped a mini tripod to my helmet for a little point and shoot digital camera. it turned out well for what its worth.

I am hoping to buy a fixie and i dont know whether i should have a brake or not. I really dont want one and i dont think i would have the need for one when i am riding in London. What do you think?

you'd be dumb to not have a brake. at least at first. you can always take it off. however, when i rode fixed gear i found it as a life-saving back up maneuver on more than one occasion. though ive had brake cables snap and its times like those that make you happy you have a fixed gear.

be safe, dont worry about looking cool w/o a brake. take it off if you feel the need. id say leave it on though. its your life after all.

brake cables rarely snap, learn proper upkeep of your equipment.

It's amazing how many hipsters have had brake cables snap when many messengers and road racers can go a decade with that happening once.
