What about people like Carl Palmer, who play the gongs during drum solos? He doesn't go thru all the "warming up", nor does he exercise all of the preparation for hitting. HE just hits them.
Thanks for the video! I believe that musical instruments are a gateway between the physical universe and us humans. I think that a gong, especially when approached with this kind of sensitivity, is one of the most fascinating instruments of all because of its capability of transforming such subtle vibrations of matter into sound. :)
