When people talk to me when I'm in france or in the Czech republic (like I am now) they answer in English even though I talk in French or Czech (which is nearly impossible as a language by the way). well that really depends which language you're talking about. I live in Prague at the moment and Czech is way easier for Russians than for me, even though Czech does not use the Syrilic alphabet like russian. Then there are Languages like Hungarian, Finnish, Estonian and the Baltic languages (Lithuanian/Latvian) which are neither here nor there as well. The Syrilic alphabet is not that difficult to learn. Chinese I agree with to an extent. . . fact is most countries in the world teach english.

I live in Prague at the moment and Czech is way easier for Russians than for me, even though Czech does not use the Syrilic alphabet like russian. Then there are Languages like Hungarian, Finnish, Estonian and the Baltic languages (Lithuanian/Latvian) which are neither here nor there as well. The Syrilic alphabet is not that difficult to learn. Chinese I agree with to an extent. . . fact is most countries in the world teach english.

Including China. But I think I'm right in saying that you would be hard pushed to find a school in the UK that teaches Mandarin. There's just more material on the web and teachers for English.

uhhh no considering how english words are on alot of their packages and by seeing leters and such all the time im sure they have a half basic understanding of our alaphabet before they even try to learn the language.
think vise versa, how many chinese or japanese words/letters can you point out from packageing repitition??

yes, I agree that a chinese or japanese person should have an easier time learning english than the other way around. but that's not what I meant. I meant that learning a language like spanish, german, swedish, dutch and what have you, will obviously be a lot easier for you if you're an english speaking person, as opposed to being from a country (such as japan, china, russia etc) that doesn't even share the same alphabets.
