i have literally listen to this song only about 1,000 times haha..... <33333 them
and i really wish people would take the time to find really good music like this, instead of the stuff you hear over and over again on the radio. I appriciate you posting this :)
I don't think it's awful, but your comment did make me re-watch this video and -- although I'm just guessing -- helped me figure out why they changed singing parts of this song. For much of Will's part he seems to be singing in a lower register than he's really able to. Since Jonathan has greater range I'm guessing that's why the parts are now switched.
What happened, I learned from Brian Beattie, who produced all their stuff. He convinced Will and Jonathan to switch their voice roles, and then told Jonathan to do his voice much lower than he ever sings, which he was initially reluctant, and even Patrick (the bassist) when he first heard it, was like "who's that singing"
I saw Patrick sing it in Madison the other night and he was fantastic. Someone posted that version on YouTube so you should look for it if you haven't seen it.
Jonathan is no longer in Okkervil River. So i don't think we can expect him to sing it live, but there is probably a good possiblity he's on the album

I couldn't say better :)
It's the same in the cover with A.C. Newman. It's probably not in his range.
