I couldn't help noticing the autograph on the pickguard of John's Rick... "J J" something. Word from John is it's John's own sig, copied underneath the pickguard as a surprise to John by the guy who refinished the guitar.
If you read this comment and like what I am about to say, please give this comment a thumbs up: The Desert Rose Band has gotten back together with the original lineup and they are currently doing some touring. Go to chris hillman dot com to find out more!
This was one of the most underrated bands that ever played. Easily in the "Eagles, Bee Gee's" class. (And as with the Eagles some of their songs had "layered" meanings.) Unfortunately they were in their element, but out of their time. Too bad.
ah yes the sounds of a pedal steel guitar now this is country not that swift style of poppy crap they call country today just give me a pedal steel guitar anyday and keep it tradional country amen.
I totally agree! Taylor Swift makes me literally want to PUKE everytime they overplay one of her crappy songs on the radio. I don't even listen to the radio anymore, mainly because of her. She is a disgrace to the country music genre.
@kc8grp I agree, Taylor Swift is not country and why she is being marketed as such I don't know. I too CAN'T STAND listening to so-called country radio anymore because of Swift, Jason Aldean, Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Zac Brown Band, Keith Urban, among others who bore the four letters out of me. You don't hear any new talent that even comes close to the Desert Rose Band.
When I saw DRB live, Jorgenson had multiple guitars set up on special stands so that he could use different guitar sounds on the same song without switching instruments. Genius!
I know! Now and again Toby and George put out songs that still have that old sound. But i've mostly stop listening to country music...the new stuff anyway.
Yeah, it's people like Taylor Swift that have totally killed my interest in country music. I've been listening to country for 30 years, and she's definitely NOT country! I mainly only listen to 80's country CD's and MP3's, never the radio anymore.
what you hear on the radio sounds like it was all written, played, produced, engineered, and recorded by the same person! It was this band and Mary Chapin Carpenter that steered me to country in the early 90's....all great stuff.
It doesn't get any better or more poignant than this tune from DRB. How I miss my Lynnie and I really lost her for good; however, I gave it my Best Shot. No dice.
thanks for allowing me post. Good nite and God Bless the USA! Best 2 U All - ace
Got to play with Herb Pedersen in the early 80's with a group called "The Ray Park Rangers," in So. Cal. Great guy. wonderful singer and musician. Thanks for the post. Love the DRB.
I saw this band live in a little hamlet in Canada in Ontario called Hanmer. It was a Western days fair. Unbelievable to see this band there and I still don't know how they ended up there but.........
I couldn't help noticing the autograph on the pickguard of John's Rick... "J J" something. Word from John is it's John's own sig, copied underneath the pickguard as a surprise to John by the guy who refinished the guitar.

Again the "machinery" proves itself just that, an insensitive, mechanical entity that doesn' t have a clue.

Why can't more music be like this. It makes my ears bleed to listen to some of the "stuff" out today. Harmony today seems like a four letter word...

The Desert Rose Band was a really "smart" band too...all stellar musicians in their own right...and they put a bit of "western" back in country.

I wish country music was still like this, not the pop garbage you hear on radio nowadays.

I agree, a great song, and the DRB was fantastic. But that's a Rickenbacker guitar that John Jorgensen is playing, not a Danelectro.
