Let's not forget that this is a fascinating video on the very earliest version of Mark Of The Unicorn's (MOTU) Performer! Great program, looked like this through version 3 or something, early 00's I think. Except it was Digital Performer by then. Roland would bundle it with a few of their keyboards along with a beige cable, upto about the mid to late 90's.
This is precisely what I can't do with today's PC and a plastic cheesy keyboard controller. I can't rock like that girl rocks on this video. If she can rock so spontaneously, it means that both software and hardware manufacturers did something right!
Why would she have a TR-505 paired with a DX7 and D-50? Not that the 505 is bad by any means, but if you're going for top-of-the-line with the synths, why not the drum machine?
@ItaloBen ..Well said! But very funny considering her rocking out is just that..midi can't give the feel and groove of a talented musician playing live.I've always felt that midi was best for composition and other styles of music apart from rock..

Worth sitting through just to see the girl rock out @ 4:55 onward.
Totally hilarious! I still play my D-50, it's bright airy sounds are magnificent! The Yamaha DX7 was no slouch either. Those were the days...

Fantastic gear! The D-50 and the DX7IIFD. Wonderful! Atari ST was a cheaper alternative to a Mac for MIDI application.
