I can totally see your point Hudsucker94. His characters have inane deadpan interactions, and often his jokes are far too dry or far too lame, and his later work (specifically Life Aquatic) suffers from it.
But Anderson inherits that style of writing from films like The Graduate and Harold and Maude. In fact, Anderson's work is rich in film and literature. I know that doesn't make his films accessible/enjoyable to most, but they're substantial.

This why I hate, no,utterly despise wes anderson, his work, and most of his fans. his work is very empty and hollow with no core to it. it,not emotionally or intellectually engaging/challenging on any level. like he and his fans, are often very, very pretentious. most of his fans probably aren't real fans, they say they like his work just to look cool and kiss his ass.
please, hudsucker94, do tell me what is pretentious about any of wes anderson's films. In case you don't know (and I assume you don't) when something or someone is pretentious they think they are the most important person on the earth. Or they think that they have created the greatest thing on the earth, I am guessing this is what you mean by he is pretentious, but where in his work does he even suggest that his films are better than any others? I think you are just saying this to sound cool.
Yeah. All his movies are just like you described. And don't fucking tell me what it does or doesn't mean,I know what it means and don't need you telling me asshole. That better than or so great attitude is all over his shitty fucking movies. Ok.I can see it,and if you can't,don't tell me otherwise.
i saw this movie in my english class relating max to holden in catcher in the rye. i thought it was absolutely hilarious, one of the best movies ive seen
@LyndaHudson but seriously, have you READ catcher in the rye? holden is like "ooh i hate the world, i dont know how to be intimate around women, blah blah blah, fuck everyone, life is pointless" Max is like "I LOVE RUSHMORE! I LOVE EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITES! WOO I AM PROUD TO BE AN ACCOMPLISHED STUDENT! and yes i have an unrequited love affair with one of my teachers." THATS IT. nothing alike.

I heard: classical guitar, flute, drums, castanets (the quick "clicky" 2:02) and an organ (2:05). Hope this helps.
