  • I would never do this in the wild. If I knew where that was, I'd seal the cactus wound. Something I would do if I saw any Saguaro with a large wound. I believe in natural resource management and in ensuring the health and genetic diversity of long-lived organisms. Organisms which can be particularly vulnerable to human activity. Sagauro is one such plant indeed. I have grown it personally for many years from seedlings and never felt the urge to eat parts of it to get a buzz.

  • things like this shouldnt be on youtube..

  • Saguaro is not threatened or endangered. And that cut was not remotely close to being lethal.

Jeesh, what are there breatharians up in this bitch?

  • I like how it's 4 minutes and 20 seconds.....

I have some cacti growing in my back yard right now. It's actually one parent cactus (prickly pear) that, once big enough, I've cut pads from the original and planted them. These are very hardy- they survived a hail storm that tore off pads and fruits and cut the remaining pad in half! Within a week it was healed and growing new pads. I was astonished, as this was my first personal encounter with any cactus or cactus growing.

  • Very interesting. What an Awesome plant

  • You like to put huge wounds in 100 year old cacti? My guess is that the 'shamans' you talk about packed those wounds and tended to them ensuring their survival. You did not. With a background check and investigation I'm sure one could find out exactly where you were when you made that video and check to see if the cactus still stands. All so you can get a high and pretend to communicate with 'spirits'. Lame.

  • @Raptor22b how do you know he didn't tend to the cactus were you there when the camera shut off? maybe you were.

  • @StomperReed Why don't we let Daniel 'Dopey' Vitalis respond with the answer to your question.

  • @StomperReed Look, he's obviously trespassing on someone else's land. He's cutting into a protected species of cactus to get a little 'high'. He's shooshing the viewers of the video when talking about the psychotropic properties of the plant. He knows he's doing something wrong yet he ignores his conscience and goes ahead and does it anyway. I have zero respect for that.

  • @Raptor22b well your a pussy

  • @Raptor22b I have seen cactus with way bigger wholes cut.....Stop being a ling bitch! that cactus will survive and heal within weeks dumb ass!

  • Very well done, I just learned a lot after watching this! Thanks!

  • lmao penetration :X

  • I tried eating a couple tablespoons of the dark inner bark a year ago after seeing this video and reading the page on your website. I definetely noticed strong effects within half an hour of consumption. The world became extremely dreamlike and I drifted in and out of conciousness into a lucid dream state. (my first experience with lucid dreaming). Overall it was like no other psychoactive I've ever experienced, but the taste is worse than anything I've ever eaten.

  • Keep it private? On the Internet???

  • this guy is a dickhead. why dont you just go tell people that leatherback turtles have bars of solid gold inside. its a dangerous lie to tell about an endangered species - the saguaro is not psychoactive - only its fruits were made into a psychoactive beverage = wine duh!, the fermented fruit make alcohol, plain old alcohol

  • @MrJuicemon

How do explain pigmies comment? Why don't you research things before you comment on youtube like you know what you're talking about. I would love to slap your shit.

  • great video

  • If this Cactus is so endangered why not use the easily obtained San Pedro?Just seems having this video up on You-Tube will endanger it even more, hows that keeping it private?

  • it's illegal to cut it in Mexico too...by the way!

  • @permacultureli Well maybe they were on privately owned property. *wink*

  • @permacultureli So what?

  • not if you have 20 u.s currency dollars

  • You're in "Mexico"

    ahahaha.

  • @NiteAngel Um... if you're not going to take someone's advice because of their jewelry choice, you're a lost fucking cause.

  • Plenty of other cacti such as Ariocarpus, Aztekium, Turbinicarpus, etc. are used by Native Americans for psychoactive and medical purposes. I've just never heard of THIS cactus being used like that. As a medicinal, perhaps.... as a psychoactive.... I doubt it.

  • When I was a toddler living in arizona i went out and grabbed a cactus with both hands, I can still vividly remember the excruciating pain to this day

  • please offer real evidence that this is psychoactive, this is basically unheard of that cacti besides lophophora and trichocereus are psychoactive.

  • @Farfromhere001

You are an expert. Yes, it is unheard of.

  • @mjazzguitar There MAY be some info that "Saguaro" or Carnegiea gigantea is psychoactive but I'd like to see the evidence. I mean this jackass even spelled it wrong in the title! I'm not convinced! This is the ONLY time I've ever heard of it being psychoactive. I've heard of it as medicinal, but psychoactive? No.

  • @Farfromhere001 I was basically responding to you saying that using other cacti was unheard of.

But C. gigantea does have a number of alkaloids, I wouldn't be surprised if it had an effect.

  • @Farfromhere001

Look up Sacramental and Medicinal Cacti by Michael S. Smith. A lot of cacti have tons of alkaloids.

Or do a separate web search of psychoactive cactus.

  • @spruntfemalespray

bananas and avocados are man made?

Daniel pisses off raw food vegans because he tells people they're going to get cholesterol deficiencies if they don't consume corpses.

  • @spruntfemalespray

Actually, that's what makes him fail as a raw food bozo..

  • @spruntfemalespray never heard of a kilt

  • What a beautiful cactus!

  • Yea its bitter alright...damn

  • Not the state tree...thats the Palo Verde. It is the state cactus...

  • 3:20 I KNEW IT he was actually in arizona the whole time, not mexico hehe

  • Thats really awesome exploring Psychedelics, just hope such a long lived cactus doesn't become decimated by telling people about it, as opposed to san pedro which grows relatively fast in comparison. Peace

  • Nice vid in the outdoors. Im not into drugs personally any more.

Daniel could be David Wolfe's fill in man. Drugs n superfoods. :)

  • I hope you don't run into the cops in the desert, cause you can't cut into suguaro cacti by law ;)

  • @trisky1234 He's in mexico...they have no laws there...you sleepin' boy? <3

  • actually the state tree of arizona is the Palo Verde... the state flower of arizona is the Saguaro flower blossom...
