Geneviève Bujold was indeed a very gifted actress; considering her performance in this movie, Anne of the thousand days or in The Trojan Woman; very capable to play the more difficult womens roles; shame that she did not make more such movies...
@bookkeeper57: Hey! I am not 22 myself and would not like to be referred to as kid but as young lady or at least woman! But I agree with you on the rest of your statement...
I was 18 when this film broke; anyone who is 22 today is a kid from my perspective, no disrespect intended. When I was 22, I viewed myself as a woman grown, and took exception to anyone who said otherwise. In that 16th century, Anne had just returned from the continent, having completed her education in the French court; and was engaged to marry her peer of the same age; when her plans were disrupted by a guy twice her age, infatuated with her. Just happened to be the King of England.
@bookkeeper57: From that point of view the argument makes some sense but then again: Only because women were married in former times at the age of 15 or 16 does not make women today of 22 years a kid...
@ludocrat: Nay! He roughly conquered Gaul and made a visit to Britannia and tried to scare the Germanic tribes across the Rhine but not even the Romans ever conquered all of Europe; only the Russians got close to that in the end of World War 2!
By the way: I like Shaws parody on the contemporary Britain, his secretary Britannus, he makes quite a lot of fun on his times and contemporaries!
He wrote more that's VERY worth checking out. Of course seeing his work performed is great, but some people in his day found his work (and him) shocking and irreverent, and so he wrote knowing that a lot of people would only know his work by reading it.
Good for him. Didn't he write in the midst of the Victorian era? That he was able to do anything in that miserable time was a miracle. And his work is so good that is more than acceptable for our age, love it.

She was just a kid, only 22 in Anne of the Thousand Days, but even this young, she had more dramatic depth than Liz Taylor:
and I have been a fan of Taylor's.

Nice character study: Cleopatra was brought to Caesar rolled in a rug, in a palace of hers
that was captured by him. He was on her ground, and she told him about it.

Now that is grim.
