Sometimes you have to cut off some limbs in order for the Tree to survive. If our car companies want to live they will trim off the useless fat and get with it, otherwise I am sure Honda and Toyota will gladly usurp them, buy their plants and take their employees. Very cheap when you do not have to train labor or build a new plant. I want what is best for the people of this country and money grubbing employers who do not care are not that.

Because the quality of our plants is better and the workforce is ALREADY trained and ready to go. I mean it is the equivelant of handing them a ready to go car manufacturing business and letting them just start making money. Win for them and they also do not have to transport the steel as far, get to avoid salt water, and slap "American Made" on their cars to make them more attractive. Some people know a good deal and real quality when they see it, others do not.

I'm torn. I'm in healthcare. People lose their jobs & health benefits which results in less preventive care, stop meds because they can't afford them. Hospitals cut staff because they lose contracts. People end up in our ER's (the most costly & inefficient way of providing healthcare). Then there's unemployment, medicaid. That's just healthcare. Upper management get ZERO. Regardless, we will pay 2day or 2morrow. This is the domino theory we should fear. Sub vendors, clothes, tuition & on & on.

This shows that politicians don't know anything about the free-market. The fall in auto sales is not due to a credit crunch (we have a crunch, but . . .). People are finally 'wising up' and telling themselves, "Hmm, maybe I shouldn't be spending like there's no tomorrow and actually start saving my money. Maybe I shouldn't buy a new $45K SUV every year."
