Hey Sadie, when I do the forward bend at the beginning of this set, as well as while resting on the floor, it feels like blood is rushing to my head. I feel the pressure coming mostly from around my neck.
My question is: Is this something that will go away with time, or should I stop doing this set altogether, for fear that my head might explode?
If you're not used to inversions, they can feel this way at first. Does this sensation go away if you hold the pose? Watch that you're not hunching up your shoulders around your neck. Also, make sure you don't have high blood pressure. You can not bend so far forward, and slightly elevate your head on a blanket when you're on the floor. Eventually, as you do more yoga, you should be able to take the full bends and inversions. Let me know how it goes! xoSadie
It also takes time to change your brain's habits. Practice this every night for a month, and if you can't go to sleep, do it again. breathe evenly through your nose, and pay attention to your breath, count it if you have to. Commit to a real practice of getting into a sleepy state and staying there, and after a bit, you'll create new habits. But, you have to stick with it for a period of time to make it work. Also, of course, no caffeine, sugar or alcohol before bed. xoSadie
insomnia could be just the effect of not much activity during the day. esp. if u dont really have a daytime job and u just have all the time in the world u are prone to insomnia because u are really not using up the energy during the day,, hence u have all that energy in ur body and u wont be able to sleep.
Hey--go to the Huffington Post online, search for Sadie plus Insomnia. You'll get a great 5-step process I wrote for them to really get to the root of your insomnia and help you sleep.

Your videos are great Sadie. I used the block (well a brick) and then realised that rolling my back side to side against the floor would massage my middle back!! Doing this a few times a day has made a huge difference to my back pain and reduced the unstability of my middle back. This is by far the best thing I've come across to self treat my mid back (it works much better than rolling up and down.)

Your videos are great Sadie. I used the block (well a brick) and then realised that rolling my back side to side against the floor would massage my middle back!! Doing this a few times a day has made a huge difference to my back pain and reduced the unstability of my middle back. This is by far the best thing I've come across to self treat my mid back (it works much better than rolling up and down.)

Thanks - your explanations are so good, teaching us things I've never heard other yogis talk about before. I will keep trying small things you suggest as my back settles down and my heart opens up (the other side of my problem I'm sure). Wish you were teaching in England - lucky New Yorkers. I'm sure your You tube audience will get even bigger
