Russia in 1917 traded in magnificence for a rigid tawdry ideology. Lenin was a ruthless thug. Followed by Stalin, a paranoid tyrant.
And they called the last czar, Bloody Nicholas. Propaganda anyone?
What killed Holy Orthodox Czarist Russia was the sacrifice on the eastern front at the opening stages of the First World War. Kaiser Wilhelm would have been in Paris for Christmas had it not been for Nicky saving Republican France's butt. Go figure.
The Bolsheviks wiped out the sickening Tsar and his spawn, but they forget to 'get' this dickhead's sister. And guess what ? This sickening bastard's sister escaped Russia to go on to contribute much, biologically, to the sickening Danish Royal Family which prevails today. The Bolsheviks were throwing Romanovs down wells, but they missed the Tsar's sister, damn it. Nowadays, an Austtralian bourgeois toff bitch, " Princess Mary ", is chucking out Danish Royal babies. Fuck ! Shit ! I wanna spew !
@Richardhedditch261 u make me wanna spew! guess u come from a poor family with no perspectives and u r just jealous because the royals have everything and u`ll never have something!
@eastasiapower You have to learn the history of Russia .. The Russian empire by force anybody not to Join the Empire whereas other countries have done so. Regions joined the empire of your choice. For example, Georgia - to protect themselves from the Turks requested that the Russian Empire. It is a holy state.
@Nimblerugbyman Russia brought communism to almost every country it borders, fucking up China, North Korea,Vietnam, the whole Eastern Europe. In addition, Russia still illegally occupy China's large far east territories and Japan's four islands. Russians still illegally occupy Caucasus countries like Chechenya, etc
@eastasiapower And you mean that getting some money from the poor countries, growing the national debt and never give it back like all Europe and the USA do is not evil? Why Russia must give all the borrowed money back in time and no minute later and the USA and Europe? Europe can borrow a lot of money all the time and always make their debt limit higher and higher becoming the fatballs because of plenty of hamburgers?
i dont wanna really go into what he really did and did not....all i wanna say that killing the whole family , 5 innocent children is a shame on humanity.
@mehaabhi I dissagree, killing is entire family is a shame on the revolutionaries, letting people starve while you live in utter wealth, THAT is a shame on humanity.
@Gunnarr123abc Not at all, Fuck Stalin and a lot of Communist leaders who kept their country in an authoritarian government when communism is supposed to be more democratic than modern day democracy.
You should really stop reading only communists books.
Lenin, Trotsky, were funded by The Rothchild family, a man named Jacob Schiff who was a banker and an Azkenazhi Zionist Jew. Nicholas' grandfather Tsar Alexander II didnt let the Rothchild to establish a bank on Russia (they established banks almost everywhere) so they swear to kill his entire family, and that's happend to Tsar Nicholas II. Poor man. He wasn't a Saint.
@KidJohnnyStorm Well if ofc by your standards a man who orders his guards to shoot unarmed civillians who sing "Long live the Tsar" in front of his palace, killing up to 10.000 civillians, obligating people to sit through his coronation and putting the army at all exists in such a way nobody could leave, let 500 ppl die of heat and lack of water, take away all Russia's provisions and letting his people die of starvation, all whilst being rich enough to have eggs made out of diamonds... suuure...
@KidJohnnyStorm Well during his reign the Tsarist Empire lived in utter poverty, anti-jewish pogroms, that killed well over 30.000 Jews which is the reason why there are so many Jews in the USA, because Russian Jews emigrated so as not to be killed or have their houses burnt down or taken away from them (one of the massacre's happened on Easter in Odessa which killed approximately 2.500. Then when he defeated the revolutionaries in the 1905 Russian Revolution and killed tens of thousands of ppl.
@KidJohnnyStorm And again, during his time Russia lived in immense poverty, people were starving while the noble family spent hundreds of millions of dollars on diamond eggs, sent his people into war that they did not want to fight, and basically all this accumulated in Bolshevik Revolution. True the revolutionaries killed him and his entire family, even though Lenin never wanted that to happen. And after all the crap he put his people through, they made him a saint...Jesus fucking Christ...
@Iruth27 And again more Specific. Facts, dates etc plz.
Jesus F... Christ hu? An atheist supporter of Lenin I guess and since you mention Christ, Lenin killed many Christians BUT NOT EVEN 1 JEW, I guess Christans were the rich people and jews the poor (OMG WTF ROLF JEWS POOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRSSSSSSS????? ONLY A STUPID BEING WOULD BELIEVE THIS SHIT)
@KidJohnnyStorm 1. I'm an agnostic not an atheist, I know all Gods exist I just don't pray to either of them.
2. Lenin never killed anybody, his soldiers did that for him, and yeah Jewish people were poor in Russia and they were trated like shit, which is why so many of them left to America. Oh and there's no need for insulting other people you only degrade yourself, we're here to talk history not tastes, and between Nicholas II and Lenin, Lenin is by far the better human being.
@Iruth27 OMG Lenin was better human than Nicholas? Are you stupid? Lenin create Cheka, Lenin create the Gulags, Lenin sent many 4 million people to the death, Lenin agree to kill Tsar Nichoals' entire family and his inocent kids, Lenin ordered his man to kill the sailors of kronstadt, he called them the proud of Russia cause they were his elite in the army but when they rebelled cause THEIR FAMILIES HAD NO FOOD HE CALLED THEM TRAITORS AND THAT THEY WERE TAKING ORDERS FROM THE WHITE ARMY.
@KidJohnnyStorm Gulags were faaar before Lenin, Doestoevski spent four months in a goulag either in 1848 or 1849. As for your figure of 4 million ppl I can guess you found that information purely out of ur ass. True 5 million ppl died in the Russian famine of 1921, but that was because of the war efforts and it wasn't Lenin's fault. He tried a new regime that failed, compared to Nicholas who went on with an old regime and fucked it up beyond anything anybody could have ever dreamed of.
@KidJohnnyStorm Lenin didn't create gulags, they were there far before he ever arrived, Dostoevski was sent to a gulag for four months. As for ur estimate of 4 million ppl Lenin kileld I'm guessing u got that information strictly from ur ass. True 5 mil ppl died in the Russian famine of 1921 but that wasn't Lenin's fault, he tried to create a new regime that did not work, compared to Nicholas II who had all the money in the world but preferred to spend all of it on pwetty eggs.
@Iruth27 Stop talking nonsense all the time. Compare to the Tsar Lenin and Stalin were schizophrenic beings. Lenin slaugther many Christians and their churches but not EVEN ONE JEW. He decriminalize homosexuality and abortions, he was a lewd creature, When he was at France he often was visited a bordel. French reportes took interviews from the whores. And there were was book written in 1960 about this theme, not like the Soviet myth for stupids about him been a family man.
@KidJohnnyStorm And if u are going to be an anti-Semite, please hate the Israeli Army of today, not the people who died in the famine of 1921. As for Communism, its roots come from Marx and ended with Lenin (neither of whom were Jewish).
@KidJohnnyStorm No he was not a spy, but he was getting a lot of money from England to make the revolution. It was good for England in those times. That's why I don't think I would be glad to see prince Charles as a russian tsar if someone will try to return monarchy in Russia
@MichaelDvinyaninov Not Lenin himself but his friend Trotsky. Lenin was actually a German Spy and ηισ "connector" was Parvous. I dont know if monarchy would be any different than Vladimir Putin.
Well, I'm British and I and most of the world know that today's Russia is full of racist cunts, and blantantly contradicting fools who are Neo-Nazi's - the very thing they faught so bitterly against, they are now. Not all, but an overwhelming amount.
And there is not true freedom in that country like in other countries. So stop chugging the Vodka and potatos and get a grip on your piss laden selves.
@missmuggledetector There is quite a lot of truth in what you say, though I'd have used softer language. I lived in Russia for many years and have a Russian wife. Russians are on the whole racist, that is, they have a distinct distrust of anyone who looks different.. The reasons why are complex. As for Neo nazis, they eulogise the ideal, not the substance. Stalin killed more than twice as many Jews as Hitler did, and Russia has always been very anti-Semitic. Change will take a long time.
SHUT UP FUCK UP!!!!! about Russia, about our history, about our Tsar !!! We are the great country, great nation which gives freedom, won the Second War. so shut up and enjoy your life, losers!!!!
@kondrs007 I think I should thank your Tsar, after all, if he hadn't been SO stupid, our rise would've been harder. Thank you Nicholas Romanov, now burn in hell :D
@RedArmySoldier1939 i'm polish so naturally i hate the tsar and imperial russia after the partitions and killings, etc. but there's one thing i hate more than imperial russia, and that is red russia. you burn in hell
@RedArmySoldier1939 thanks to the ussr our country is shit and going out of being shitty to being a european power like before your fucking russian partitions. ur fuckin comrade stalin didnt want poland to exist, thus he signed the nazi soviet pact. reading to much iskra, eh? stalin didnt touch poland after ww2 to boost morale of how he was a good leader not wanting to conquer europe but poland was really a buffer zone in case of an attack so shut your red ass up and thank us for solidarity!
tuga9890, whoever you are thanx for the video... there are too many pricks who yet didn't realize of what had actually happened to them in the past... let's just fuhrgeddabout them and watch ..........
"Shocking that a head of state could display so much racism and anti-semitism."
Shocking to whom? Not to his contemporaries. Perhaps to our sensitivities today but it can be argued that we are over-obsessed by the sins of our fathers yet blind to our own shortcomings.
The Russian Empire was not overturned by people who fretted about the Czar's rudeness to the Japanese or the Jews. They lusted for power and saw the legitimacy of the monarchy as a brake on their ambition. The thugs won.
"Why do people cutting across religion, race, etc., hate the Tsar so much?"
That's a bit broad. There are many people in contemporary Russia & beyond who rehabilitate & revere the memory of the Tsar. Second, where it is an accurate statement, it is often by people who don't understand an orthodox worldview or who simply kick those they see as losers.
The Tsar held racial stereotypes common to Europeans in general. Check out Niall Ferguson's 'War of the World' for a window into that world.
Why did so many people cutting across religion, race etc. hate the Tsar so much? Because he himself was a hateful being. He was a racist and an anti-semite. Consider the words of Count Witte: "To the Japanese His Majesty was in the habit of referring as macacoes (monkeys), using this term even in official
documents. The English he called Jews. 'An Englishman,' he liked to repeat, 'is a zhid (Jew).' "
Shocking that a head of state could display so much racism and anti-semitism.
The Czar's death was a political and ideological act, not religious nor racial. Saying "Jews killed the Tzar family" is misplaced.
Please put the blame where it belongs, not on a habitual scapegoat, the Jews, but on the perpetrators. Russian Bolsheviks, pursuing a radical Marxist agenda, murdered the very people whose titles, prestige, & bloodline could stop them cold.
Lenin was Russian. Stalin was Georgian. The revolution cut across broad ethnic lines. So, too, did the executioners.
On the day Nicholas abdicated an imageof Mary as the 'reigning icon' was found meaning Russia was ready to be ruled by the Son of God and the reign of the son of man had ended. This icon was found with the help of a certain woman, who had thrice received a vision while asleep. But the Russians should not have slaughtered the entire family. Killing of the Tsar's children, his servants, pet dog etc. created terrible Karma for Russia and that is why Russia has had to undergo so much hardships.
Japan benefited from wise rule by the Emperor Meiji, but the same cannot be said of a later successor, Hirohitio, who's government turned from democratic and liberal ways towards military rule on the assassination of Prime Minister Inukai Tsuyoshi in 1932.
Bismarck was sacked by Wilhelm II. Churchill was defeated after WW2. Such is politics.
Nicholas got rid of Witte but kept the Duma. Stolypin's premiership, 1906-11, proved reliable. The Duma supported the war. Simply, did not end well.
Nicholas ii should have shown respect for Sergei Witte. In Japan the Emperor Meiji had great respect for Hirobumi Ito. He openly called him the best man in Japan. He gave Hirobumi Ito full power. But Ito did not abuse power. He studied all the good in USA and Europe and modernised Japan created a constitution and became Prime Minister four times. If Nicholas ii had shown the same faith in Sergei Witte as Meiji had shown on Ito his end would not have been so tragic.
Nicholas big feeling? Yes. He was Tsar of Russia. Queen Victoria was a bit big feeling too.
Did he make mistakes? Yes. He paid for them with his life.
Russo-Japanese War a blunder? Yes. But the loss was a traumatic shock to everybody. Asians were expected to fight but not win. Hubris was common in la belle epoch Europe.
Witte is not the only statesman to be ill served by his master; such is the peril of serving either a sovereign or the crowd.
This man was nothing but a megalomaniac. He more than anybody was responsible for the Russo-Japanese war. After he lost the war Sergei Witte helped in negotiating a favourable deal. Sergei Witte again came to his aid when revolutions broke out. Witte drew the framework for the Duma. But as soon as things seemed to settle down in Russia Nicholas completely withdrew all support for Witte and he had to withdraw from politics. Nicholas simply refused to look at domestic problems and paid the price.
Lenin was a myopic ideologically-obsessed & utterly ruthless thug. Stalin put to death millions of his own people in brutal purges. In WWII, he had to reinstate the Orthodox Church – yes that anachronistic “opiate of the people” – to render his own the spiritual strength to save his butt.
The European civil war called WW I was savage. It gave rise to the savageries called Communism & Nazism. Apologist? yes! I would choose the Tzars any day over what followed.
Apologists for the regime should be cautious not to favour it with the Byzantine concept of ‘symphonia’ (a constitutional philosophy that checked unlimited power; by supposing a partnership of separate ecclesiastical and political post holders). After the doctrine of Possessors triumphed both posts were synthesised into one making the Tsar absolute dictator and the Russian Orthodox Church his ideological instrument. Alas, the puppet still laments its master!
Of course Word War 1, Freemasons and even the Jews played a fatal part – but not in the way swivel eyed Tsarists would have you believe. All three were agents of Modernism. WW1 catalysed industrialisation, class conflict and exposed the regimes callous incompetence; emancipated Jews weaned off the archaism of the Torah, applied their higher learning to developing revolutionary doctrine and caucus; and Freemasonry provided communion and spiritual counterpoint to the rotten beast of Orthodoxy.
What killed the regime was its anachronistic decadence. The amazing fact is that lasted as long as it did. If you are looking for a real conspiracy it was between the Romanovs, Aristocracy and the Russian Orthodox Church who propped up the regime and would have all happily plunged a Knife into dear Nicky’s back if a suitable replacement could have been found (another inconvenience was that a useless incumbent could not be easily rid of without jeopardising the entire corrupt edifice).
Notwithstanding Illuminati & NWO paranoia, it is safe to say freemasonry was a factor. Early in the 20th century, lodges were everywhere in Europe & provided both the social & communications means for discontent; not unlike the role facebook & social media is playing in today’s Arab unrest. The deistic & rationalist bent in freemasonry also stood against the mystical tenets of orthodoxy. How much sway it had on the final triumph by extreme & peculiar Bolshevik radicals? Who knows?
The successful years of Stolypin's premiership, 1906-1911, saw Russia prosper & revolutionaries in retreat. By 1909 even Lenin despaired and longed to die (Massie, Nicholas & Alexander, pp 218-219). The 1913 tricentennial of the Romanovs showed czarist Russia at its zenith. What killed the regime was WW1. Scale of the bloodbath overwhelmed all - saint, warrior, & sinner alike. The czar, as autocrat, bore all that went wrong. Btw, it's the orthodox dogma of Symphonia not 'Divine Right'.
The doctrine of ‘Divine Right’ buttressed by the rickety legs of Orthodoxy seemed doomed to failure at the opening of the 20thC. The fact that Nicholas II so tenaciously clung to its shibboleths was a measure both of his mediocrity and pathological conservatism. But in one way or another the incubus of Tsardom remained. Propagated by the restored form of Soviet priestcraft; and as dead to the democratic will, as the hundreds of frozen corpses lying in the Moscow snow outside the Winter Palace.
Nicholas II combined a curious combination of febrile sensitivity for his family and immediate circle with an almost solipsistic disregard for his subjects. A revealing anecdote is a letter he wrote to his mother in 1902 in which he justified the brutal Russification of Finland and then went on to share his personal grief of the death of his favourite pet dog which had caused him to cry all day. The Romanov's didn't lead Russia they haunted it and their example poisoned the well of posterity.
@johnsammyanfal Can you name the book containing the anecdotes of "disregard" and he being "brutal" etc? And how did Nicholas, personally and specifically, poison the well of posterity? I'm fascinated to learn the source of your information. Thanks.
World War I was a turning point and ushered in a 20th Century dominated by dull & brutal ideology. Soviet Communism was a sordid and diminished substitute for the universality of orthodox empire - a one dimensional material dialectic that stood in stark contrast to the magnificence and sacred face (i.e. relationship & humanity) of monarchy. We have been a much poorer world since. Our current cult of celebrity worship and fragmented consumer obsessions can't match it either. RIP Nicky.

@hititpinback fear not brother we pray that russia returns to its original state of orthodox christianity as it was when the holy romanovs were in leadership
Just so you know, it has always been believed that kingship is a divine appointment, therefore a Tzar at his coronation acknowledging God's role in the matter is actually an act of humility. It's the ones who believe their own power got them there are the ones to worry about. I don't see what you're trying to say by quoting that, did you first think about the customs and the times and compare before assuming this to be out if the ordinary?
@esh1 Aside from the absolute hatred towards the tsar and everything related to him, maybe the bolsheviks feared that some member of the family would come back years later and the people would support him/her, then lead a coup d'etat or something.
@LesPaul2006 That's a very good analysis. And that's exactly the reason why they all got slaughtered. Looking back in history or reading back, it's hard to fathom why/how these Bolshevik animals commit such crimes. It's just sad! R.I.P
@LesPaul2006 Can you tell me, if it is true that the Rothschild family. Supported the Bolsheviks, did the Rothschild family have anything to do with the killing of the Tsars.
@wodji Bullshit!!!!far far far more people of colored have suffered an died in this world,in the hands of an because off the ignorance of Anglos!you need to revisit history, from the unpublished history pages,of the people"s of colored point of facts.

Tsar Nicholas II believed God had appointed him to his position, hence the prayer he read out aloud at his coronation: As Tsar Nicholas was crowned, he knelt and prayed aloud, "Lord God of our fathers, and King of Kings, Who created all things by Thy word, and by Thy wisdom has made man, that he should walk uprightly and rule righteously over Thy world; Thou hast chosen me as Tsar and judge over Thy people. I acknowledge ........etc.
@TheAnn2shoes So you are backtracking, again, and that he did not actually believe he was God? What you are saying is that one does not have a destiny, nor be allowed believe such things?Nor should they? What is your point? That when you die there is no more? That is a standard speech of any new king. How does it make him "weak"? You have made more than a few contradictions here yourself in a very short time. Go back and read them. Hence you yourself cannot exactly talk about anyone, now can you?
@TheAnn2shoes I have read some of the reviews of the book on amazon and just been to their website, where I was greeted by the sound and sight of bullets. It is a standard sensationalist bog standard book. Try reading LAST TZAR. NICHOLAS II, HIS REIGN AND HIS RUSSIA, by, S. OLDENBERG. (4 volumes).
@TheAnn2shoes Like I said I read some of the reader reviews. Eg. It makes the outrageous sensationalist claim that Nicholas was antisemitic, which means the authors ignored an irrefutable fact to the contrary that he could not have been, namely, eg. the Court Commandant was a Jew. Plus the Grand Marshal was a Catholic, the minister of his Court was Lutheran and the majority of his high officials in his government belonged neither to nobility nor gentry. Please, thrown it in the bin, and be done.
@Mightymazza2 Exactly, these people don't know their history, they're living in la la land. During his reign the people were starved of food, their rights and brutalised. And he had the brains of a postman (which he couldn't help). He believed God had put him in that position - and his wife was unduly influenced by a madman. Enough said.
@TheAnn2shoes you prefer a caucasian gangster/paranoic/ombecille who deliberately kills millions of his subjects, deports other millions because of ethnicity/class/paranoia and defends that with industrialization and free education/healthcare??? What did USSR create in form of culture/architecture or trade/business??nothing, Tsarists russia had a booming bussiness life & cultural scene..USSR was a policed desert of conformism and isolation.
@am1966ath Did you read my post before replying to it? People don't revolt over nothing. Russia was a police state under the Tsar as well. And the cultural scene? That was for the aristocracy - serfdom ill afforded culture.
@TheAnn2shoes You mean that Stalin admired the peasents? their culture & music?..he hated the peasentry and killed or deported them in great numbers, making the rest a new form of serfs on state collectives with low productivity...do you mean that russian culture was the product of illiterates?what do you call english culture then? Do you think that Oscar Wilde,Purcell or Gainsborough lived and worked in some east end cockney-slum? The revolution came about by agitation, sabotage, gangsterism.
@am1966ath I disagree with you on how your perceive the revolution to have started. Yes there may have been agitation, sabotage and gangsterism but people also revolt because they are hungry, oppressed and have no freedom. And how were they to know that Stalin was to be worse than the Tsarsist regime? They hoped for a new dawn and they got one. Just not the one they envisaged.
@TheAnn2shoes once the revolution was over, a small, psychopathic mafia of misfits and gangsters took power and held on to it by murder, censorship and idiotic personal cult of the founder & sucessor...Tsarists russia would certainly have to be reformed but soviet russia was an abomination who destroyed the russian soul, culture and people and created a monsterstate with imperial ambitions who once it whent bankrupt in August 1991 just fell apart.
@TheAnn2shoes the russian revolution was a diseaster,20years in the making, fuelled by bankrobberies, extortion, murders and conspiracy by mainly the mad Lenin and the crimminal Stalin & maffia of equal characters. Thats why the communist party in power became a maffia and when after 74years this maffiocracy collapsed, the former party bosses became either organized criminals or some sort of robber barons. Neither them nor their movement had anything to do with russian culture or history,
@am1966ath Yes, we know all of these facts in retrospect, don't we? But as I said earlier, the Tsarist regime WAS cruel and unfair and the people had no idea that the new government would be worse.
@TheAnn2shoes the tsarists regime in its cruelty was a joke compared to the new masters who showed their face immediately, confiscation,lawlessness,mobb-rule,red terror, terror against their own followers(Kronstadt mutiny 1921), 2million well educated russians fleeing russia 1917-1920, the new regime payed swedish engineers in gold to work on russian railways..they refused an went home.
@TheAnn2shoes I feel morally obliged to refute you parroting communist propaganda. Please give any eg. where Nicholas was "cruel and unfair". You complain that he had not enough control over the country, but the same people who went on to form "the new government" had to be dealt with, under his reign, and he did. That is a fact. He did it without resorting to using the death sentence. You cannot see that under Nicholas these people were kept at bay while people like you, even today, parrot them
@TheAnn2shoes when it comes to starvation, Stalim masterminded organized starvation on a massive scale in Ukraine in the 1930S, and saw to it that people starved to death, unnable to get away..no tsar would starve his people on this scale.
Nor would any tsar imprison untold millions because they lacked the capital to fund industrialization, the tsars borrowed money abroad for that. Stalin packed innocent peoples of to work to death in concentration camps, building a new society.
@am1966ath The Tsarist regime had plenty of time to prove their good intentions, but they really didn't manifest, did they? The Tsar believed he was put into his position by God (in fact, he believed himself to be some kind of God) and he did not have enough control over the country, nor know exactly what was happening in such a vast country. I have never disputed what Stalin did or was and of course, we now view these things in retrospect.
@TheAnn2shoes the early 1900s weren t very liberal, even in France or Holland you could be arrested if your were active in an union and police with sabres were attacking striking and starving workers. Tsarists Russia was a slow moving creature but it was going somewhere..it would surely have reformed in the 1920S and 1930S...Soviet union was a cannibalistic system that devoured old people and cultures to create a new man and a new society, with nightmarish methods.
@am1966ath How were the downtrodden serfs to know that Russia was going to reform? Especially when their demonstrations were cruelly dispersed by Cossacks. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, just wish we had it before these events happened. And I agree about Stalin, of course.
@TheAnn2shoes the starvation in Russias cities 1917 was due to Russias participation in a stupid war, that Russia was forced to participate in by its stupid western allies. Its railway-system broke down, some 1880 steam engine-locomotives broke down in winter, making it impossible to transport mountains of food stuff from Siberia and the Ukraine..the loyal household troops and cossacks had been scrificed on the fronts.
Had the tsarists regime had the loyal troops of 1914
@TheAnn2shoes and had the secret police assasinated Lenin,Stalin,bitch-Krupskaya and other bolsheviks there would not have been any revolution..communism thrives inb chaos and lawlessness..it need thugs, gangsters and mutineering soldiers to abolish old societies..when things are peaceful and orderly, where is the market for this kind of society??
Annsho It did prove it's good intentions, they did manifest. Yo, "in fact", actually know little, or nothing, do you? Please give eg. of where, "he believed he himself to be some kind of God"? Nicholas did not need "retrospect" and knew what nightmare was coming when the communists took over. His worst stated fears for the Russian people were, unfortunately, to come to pass. Under Nicholas, these same reactionaries were under, "enough control". It is you, provably, who knows, "exactly", nothing.
@TheAnn2shoes If Russia was a, "police state", how come Nicholas abolished serfdom? Russia revolted because of bread and fuel shortages, no different in any other country in the war. The difference was that Germany spent vast amounts of money(while her people starved) on propaganda(which continues here today) against the Tzar and aided the traitor Lenin who promised bread and peace, but had actually none to give anyone, only worse, The Terror..
@cholmain The Tsarina had quite a lot of influence over her husband and it is common knowledge and well documented that she was influenced by Rasputin, who was unstable and was himself murdered prior to the execution of the Romanovs.
@TheAnn2shoes A perfect example that Rasputin, particularly, and the Tsarina(in matters of state etc.) had no influence over the Tzar was when neither could stop Rasputin's only son from being conscripted into the war, despite a personal appeal to stop it by the Tsarina, with her saying that Rasputin was heartbroken. Nicholas's short simple reply was, unsympathetic. You still have no source or example that he was influenced by a/any "madman."
@cholmain Because the Tsar was totally involved with running the army, the governing of the country was left largely to the Tsarina - and Rasputin. It was she, under the influence of Rasputin, who fired Ministers. Everybody knows that she was unduly influenced by the 'mad monk', it is very well documented. That is why he was murdered.
2shoes It was not Rasputin nor the Tzarina who ran the country, this was done by ministers who were appointed by the Tzar. You are parroting communist propaganda again, basically outrageous unfounded claims. The letters between the Tzar and Tzarina have been quoted out of context again and again, to cause maximum damage. The whole affair can easily be sorted by anyone who reads then in whole. All decisions of state, as clearly shown there, rested with the Tzar, no matter what you try saying here
@cholmain Alexandra was the dominant partner in the marriage. It is common knowledge that while the Tzar was busy running the army/war she was in a commanding position in government - hence the mistakes. I don't know what your problem is - I presume you think I have communist leanings, which I do not. Every source you will ever look at will tell you about Rasputin and his undue influence.

THEY MADE HIM A SAINT
(Correction. But* a good man)
KidJohnnyStorm 4 months ago
@KidJohnnyStorm Well if ofc by your standards a man who orders his guards to shoot unarmed civillians who sing "Long live the Tsar" in front of his palace, killing up to 10.000 civillians, obligating people to sit through his coronation and putting the army at all exists in such a way nobody could leave, let 500 ppl die of heat and lack of water, take away all Russia's provisions and letting his people die of starvation, all whilst being rich enough to have eggs made out of diamonds... suuure...
Iruth27 4 months ago
@Iruth27 Be more specific plz.
KidJohnnyStorm 4 months ago
@KidJohnnyStorm Well during his reign the Tsarist Empire lived in utter poverty, anti-jewish pogroms, that killed well over 30.000 Jews which is the reason why there are so many Jews in the USA, because Russian Jews emigrated so as not to be killed or have their houses burnt down or taken away from them (one of the massacre's happened on Easter in Odessa which killed approximately 2.500. Then when he defeated the revolutionaries in the 1905 Russian Revolution and killed tens of thousands of ppl.
Iruth27 4 months ago
@KidJohnnyStorm And again, during his time Russia lived in immense poverty, people were starving while the noble family spent hundreds of millions of dollars on diamond eggs, sent his people into war that they did not want to fight, and basically all this accumulated in Bolshevik Revolution. True the revolutionaries killed him and his entire family, even though Lenin never wanted that to happen. And after all the crap he put his people through, they made him a saint...Jesus fucking Christ...
Iruth27 4 months ago
@Iruth27 And again more Specific. Facts, dates etc plz.
Jesus F... Christ hu? An atheist supporter of Lenin I guess and since you mention Christ, Lenin killed many Christians BUT NOT EVEN 1 JEW, I guess Christans were the rich people and jews the poor (OMG WTF ROLF JEWS POOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRSSSSSSS????? ONLY A STUPID BEING WOULD BELIEVE THIS SHIT)
KidJohnnyStorm 4 months ago
@KidJohnnyStorm 1. I'm an agnostic not an atheist, I know all Gods exist I just don't pray to either of them.
2. Lenin never killed anybody, his soldiers did that for him, and yeah Jewish people were poor in Russia and they were trated like shit, which is why so many of them left to America. Oh and there's no need for insulting other people you only degrade yourself, we're here to talk history not tastes, and between Nicholas II and Lenin, Lenin is by far the better human being.
Iruth27 4 months ago
KidJohnnyStorm 4 months ago
@KidJohnnyStorm Gulags were faaar before Lenin, Doestoevski spent four months in a goulag either in 1848 or 1849. As for your figure of 4 million ppl I can guess you found that information purely out of ur ass. True 5 million ppl died in the Russian famine of 1921, but that was because of the war efforts and it wasn't Lenin's fault. He tried a new regime that failed, compared to Nicholas who went on with an old regime and fucked it up beyond anything anybody could have ever dreamed of.
Iruth27 4 months ago
@KidJohnnyStorm Lenin didn't create gulags, they were there far before he ever arrived, Dostoevski was sent to a gulag for four months. As for ur estimate of 4 million ppl Lenin kileld I'm guessing u got that information strictly from ur ass. True 5 mil ppl died in the Russian famine of 1921 but that wasn't Lenin's fault, he tried to create a new regime that did not work, compared to Nicholas II who had all the money in the world but preferred to spend all of it on pwetty eggs.
Iruth27 4 months ago
@Iruth27 Stop talking nonsense all the time. Compare to the Tsar Lenin and Stalin were schizophrenic beings. Lenin slaugther many Christians and their churches but not EVEN ONE JEW. He decriminalize homosexuality and abortions, he was a lewd creature, When he was at France he often was visited a bordel. French reportes took interviews from the whores. And there were was book written in 1960 about this theme, not like the Soviet myth for stupids about him been a family man.

KidJohnnyStorm 4 months ago

missmuggledetector 7 months ago
@missmuggledetector There is quite a lot of truth in what you say, though I'd have used softer language. I lived in Russia for many years and have a Russian wife. Russians are on the whole racist, that is, they have a distinct distrust of anyone who looks different.. The reasons why are complex. As for Neo nazis, they eulogise the ideal, not the substance. Stalin killed more than twice as many Jews as Hitler did, and Russia has always been very anti-Semitic. Change will take a long time.

MrZadokthePriest 9 months ago 7
"Why do people cutting across religion, race, etc., hate the Tsar so much?"
That's a bit broad. There are many people in contemporary Russia & beyond who rehabilitate & revere the memory of the Tsar. Second, where it is an accurate statement, it is often by people who don't understand an orthodox worldview or who simply kick those they see as losers.
The Tsar held racial stereotypes common to Europeans in general. Check out Niall Ferguson's 'War of the World' for a window into that world.
MrZadokthePriest 10 months ago 3
Why did so many people cutting across religion, race etc. hate the Tsar so much? Because he himself was a hateful being. He was a racist and an anti-semite. Consider the words of Count Witte: "To the Japanese His Majesty was in the habit of referring as macacoes (monkeys), using this term even in official
documents. The English he called Jews. 'An Englishman,' he liked to repeat, 'is a zhid (Jew).' "
Shocking that a head of state could display so much racism and anti-semitism.
1mrnewman 10 months ago

1mrnewman 10 months ago
Japan benefited from wise rule by the Emperor Meiji, but the same cannot be said of a later successor, Hirohitio, who's government turned from democratic and liberal ways towards military rule on the assassination of Prime Minister Inukai Tsuyoshi in 1932.
Bismarck was sacked by Wilhelm II. Churchill was defeated after WW2. Such is politics.
Nicholas got rid of Witte but kept the Duma. Stolypin's premiership, 1906-11, proved reliable. The Duma supported the war. Simply, did not end well.
MrZadokthePriest 10 months ago
Nicholas ii should have shown respect for Sergei Witte. In Japan the Emperor Meiji had great respect for Hirobumi Ito. He openly called him the best man in Japan. He gave Hirobumi Ito full power. But Ito did not abuse power. He studied all the good in USA and Europe and modernised Japan created a constitution and became Prime Minister four times. If Nicholas ii had shown the same faith in Sergei Witte as Meiji had shown on Ito his end would not have been so tragic.
1mrnewman 10 months ago
Nicholas big feeling? Yes. He was Tsar of Russia. Queen Victoria was a bit big feeling too.
Did he make mistakes? Yes. He paid for them with his life.
Russo-Japanese War a blunder? Yes. But the loss was a traumatic shock to everybody. Asians were expected to fight but not win. Hubris was common in la belle epoch Europe.
Witte is not the only statesman to be ill served by his master; such is the peril of serving either a sovereign or the crowd.
WW1 did in both Tsar & Duma.
MrZadokthePriest 10 months ago
This man was nothing but a megalomaniac. He more than anybody was responsible for the Russo-Japanese war. After he lost the war Sergei Witte helped in negotiating a favourable deal. Sergei Witte again came to his aid when revolutions broke out. Witte drew the framework for the Duma. But as soon as things seemed to settle down in Russia Nicholas completely withdrew all support for Witte and he had to withdraw from politics. Nicholas simply refused to look at domestic problems and paid the price.
1mrnewman 11 months ago
Lenin was a myopic ideologically-obsessed & utterly ruthless thug. Stalin put to death millions of his own people in brutal purges. In WWII, he had to reinstate the Orthodox Church – yes that anachronistic “opiate of the people” – to render his own the spiritual strength to save his butt.
The European civil war called WW I was savage. It gave rise to the savageries called Communism & Nazism. Apologist? yes! I would choose the Tzars any day over what followed.
MrZadokthePriest 11 months ago 2
Apologists for the regime should be cautious not to favour it with the Byzantine concept of ‘symphonia’ (a constitutional philosophy that checked unlimited power; by supposing a partnership of separate ecclesiastical and political post holders). After the doctrine of Possessors triumphed both posts were synthesised into one making the Tsar absolute dictator and the Russian Orthodox Church his ideological instrument. Alas, the puppet still laments its master!
johnsammyanfal 11 months ago
Of course Word War 1, Freemasons and even the Jews played a fatal part – but not in the way swivel eyed Tsarists would have you believe. All three were agents of Modernism. WW1 catalysed industrialisation, class conflict and exposed the regimes callous incompetence; emancipated Jews weaned off the archaism of the Torah, applied their higher learning to developing revolutionary doctrine and caucus; and Freemasonry provided communion and spiritual counterpoint to the rotten beast of Orthodoxy.
johnsammyanfal 11 months ago
What killed the regime was its anachronistic decadence. The amazing fact is that lasted as long as it did. If you are looking for a real conspiracy it was between the Romanovs, Aristocracy and the Russian Orthodox Church who propped up the regime and would have all happily plunged a Knife into dear Nicky’s back if a suitable replacement could have been found (another inconvenience was that a useless incumbent could not be easily rid of without jeopardising the entire corrupt edifice).
johnsammyanfal 11 months ago
Notwithstanding Illuminati & NWO paranoia, it is safe to say freemasonry was a factor. Early in the 20th century, lodges were everywhere in Europe & provided both the social & communications means for discontent; not unlike the role facebook & social media is playing in today’s Arab unrest. The deistic & rationalist bent in freemasonry also stood against the mystical tenets of orthodoxy. How much sway it had on the final triumph by extreme & peculiar Bolshevik radicals? Who knows?
MrZadokthePriest 11 months ago
MrZadokthePriest 11 months ago
The doctrine of ‘Divine Right’ buttressed by the rickety legs of Orthodoxy seemed doomed to failure at the opening of the 20thC. The fact that Nicholas II so tenaciously clung to its shibboleths was a measure both of his mediocrity and pathological conservatism. But in one way or another the incubus of Tsardom remained. Propagated by the restored form of Soviet priestcraft; and as dead to the democratic will, as the hundreds of frozen corpses lying in the Moscow snow outside the Winter Palace.
johnsammyanfal 11 months ago
Nicholas II combined a curious combination of febrile sensitivity for his family and immediate circle with an almost solipsistic disregard for his subjects. A revealing anecdote is a letter he wrote to his mother in 1902 in which he justified the brutal Russification of Finland and then went on to share his personal grief of the death of his favourite pet dog which had caused him to cry all day. The Romanov's didn't lead Russia they haunted it and their example poisoned the well of posterity.
johnsammyanfal 11 months ago

RIP Nicky.

Tsar Nicholas II believed God had appointed him to his position, hence the prayer he read out aloud at his coronation: As Tsar Nicholas was crowned, he knelt and prayed aloud, "Lord God of our fathers, and King of Kings, Who created all things by Thy word, and by Thy wisdom has made man, that he should walk uprightly and rule righteously over Thy world; Thou hast chosen me as Tsar and judge over Thy people. I acknowledge ........etc.
TheAnn2shoes 1 year ago
@TheAnn2shoes So you are backtracking, again, and that he did not actually believe he was God? What you are saying is that one does not have a destiny, nor be allowed believe such things?Nor should they? What is your point? That when you die there is no more? That is a standard speech of any new king. How does it make him "weak"? You have made more than a few contradictions here yourself in a very short time. Go back and read them. Hence you yourself cannot exactly talk about anyone, now can you?

@cholmain Just for the record, one of my sources is Penny Wilson, who, together with Greg King wrote the factual book, 'The fate of the Romanovs'.
TheAnn2shoes 1 year ago
@TheAnn2shoes I have read some of the reviews of the book on amazon and just been to their website, where I was greeted by the sound and sight of bullets. It is a standard sensationalist bog standard book. Try reading LAST TZAR. NICHOLAS II, HIS REIGN AND HIS RUSSIA, by, S. OLDENBERG. (4 volumes).
cholmain 1 year ago
@cholmain The book is not sensationalist, even if the publicity sounds tacky. You should try reading it yourself.
TheAnn2shoes 1 year ago
@TheAnn2shoes Like I said I read some of the reader reviews. Eg. It makes the outrageous sensationalist claim that Nicholas was antisemitic, which means the authors ignored an irrefutable fact to the contrary that he could not have been, namely, eg. the Court Commandant was a Jew. Plus the Grand Marshal was a Catholic, the minister of his Court was Lutheran and the majority of his high officials in his government belonged neither to nobility nor gentry. Please, thrown it in the bin, and be done.

@cholmain I think we've gone as far as we can go on this subject - we are never going to agree. It's been an interesting discussion.

Why are people defending him, he starved millions of people!!
Mightymazza2 1 year ago
@Mightymazza2 Exactly, these people don't know their history, they're living in la la land. During his reign the people were starved of food, their rights and brutalised. And he had the brains of a postman (which he couldn't help). He believed God had put him in that position - and his wife was unduly influenced by a madman. Enough said.
TheAnn2shoes 1 year ago
@TheAnn2shoes you prefer a caucasian gangster/paranoic/ombecille who deliberately kills millions of his subjects, deports other millions because of ethnicity/class/paranoia and defends that with industrialization and free education/healthcare??? What did USSR create in form of culture/architecture or trade/business??nothing, Tsarists russia had a booming bussiness life & cultural scene..USSR was a policed desert of conformism and isolation.
am1966ath 1 year ago
@am1966ath You know your history well.
cholmain 1 year ago
@am1966ath Did you read my post before replying to it? People don't revolt over nothing. Russia was a police state under the Tsar as well. And the cultural scene? That was for the aristocracy - serfdom ill afforded culture.
TheAnn2shoes 1 year ago
@TheAnn2shoes You mean that Stalin admired the peasents? their culture & music?..he hated the peasentry and killed or deported them in great numbers, making the rest a new form of serfs on state collectives with low productivity...do you mean that russian culture was the product of illiterates?what do you call english culture then? Do you think that Oscar Wilde,Purcell or Gainsborough lived and worked in some east end cockney-slum? The revolution came about by agitation, sabotage, gangsterism.
am1966ath 1 year ago
@am1966ath I disagree with you on how your perceive the revolution to have started. Yes there may have been agitation, sabotage and gangsterism but people also revolt because they are hungry, oppressed and have no freedom. And how were they to know that Stalin was to be worse than the Tsarsist regime? They hoped for a new dawn and they got one. Just not the one they envisaged.
TheAnn2shoes 1 year ago
@TheAnn2shoes once the revolution was over, a small, psychopathic mafia of misfits and gangsters took power and held on to it by murder, censorship and idiotic personal cult of the founder & sucessor...Tsarists russia would certainly have to be reformed but soviet russia was an abomination who destroyed the russian soul, culture and people and created a monsterstate with imperial ambitions who once it whent bankrupt in August 1991 just fell apart.
am1966ath 1 year ago
@am1966ath Yes, I agree with what you are saying in this post.
TheAnn2shoes 1 year ago
@TheAnn2shoes the russian revolution was a diseaster,20years in the making, fuelled by bankrobberies, extortion, murders and conspiracy by mainly the mad Lenin and the crimminal Stalin & maffia of equal characters. Thats why the communist party in power became a maffia and when after 74years this maffiocracy collapsed, the former party bosses became either organized criminals or some sort of robber barons. Neither them nor their movement had anything to do with russian culture or history,
am1966ath 1 year ago
@am1966ath Yes, we know all of these facts in retrospect, don't we? But as I said earlier, the Tsarist regime WAS cruel and unfair and the people had no idea that the new government would be worse.
TheAnn2shoes 1 year ago
@TheAnn2shoes the tsarists regime in its cruelty was a joke compared to the new masters who showed their face immediately, confiscation,lawlessness,mobb-rule,red terror, terror against their own followers(Kronstadt mutiny 1921), 2million well educated russians fleeing russia 1917-1920, the new regime payed swedish engineers in gold to work on russian railways..they refused an went home.

@am1966ath With hindsight, many things in the world would have been different. But we don't have that before, do we?
TheAnn2shoes 1 year ago
@TheAnn2shoes I feel morally obliged to refute you parroting communist propaganda. Please give any eg. where Nicholas was "cruel and unfair". You complain that he had not enough control over the country, but the same people who went on to form "the new government" had to be dealt with, under his reign, and he did. That is a fact. He did it without resorting to using the death sentence. You cannot see that under Nicholas these people were kept at bay while people like you, even today, parrot them
cholmain 1 year ago
@TheAnn2shoes when it comes to starvation, Stalim masterminded organized starvation on a massive scale in Ukraine in the 1930S, and saw to it that people starved to death, unnable to get away..no tsar would starve his people on this scale.
Nor would any tsar imprison untold millions because they lacked the capital to fund industrialization, the tsars borrowed money abroad for that. Stalin packed innocent peoples of to work to death in concentration camps, building a new society.
am1966ath 1 year ago
@am1966ath The Tsarist regime had plenty of time to prove their good intentions, but they really didn't manifest, did they? The Tsar believed he was put into his position by God (in fact, he believed himself to be some kind of God) and he did not have enough control over the country, nor know exactly what was happening in such a vast country. I have never disputed what Stalin did or was and of course, we now view these things in retrospect.
TheAnn2shoes 1 year ago
@TheAnn2shoes the early 1900s weren t very liberal, even in France or Holland you could be arrested if your were active in an union and police with sabres were attacking striking and starving workers. Tsarists Russia was a slow moving creature but it was going somewhere..it would surely have reformed in the 1920S and 1930S...Soviet union was a cannibalistic system that devoured old people and cultures to create a new man and a new society, with nightmarish methods.
am1966ath 1 year ago
@am1966ath How were the downtrodden serfs to know that Russia was going to reform? Especially when their demonstrations were cruelly dispersed by Cossacks. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, just wish we had it before these events happened. And I agree about Stalin, of course.
TheAnn2shoes 1 year ago
@TheAnn2shoes the starvation in Russias cities 1917 was due to Russias participation in a stupid war, that Russia was forced to participate in by its stupid western allies. Its railway-system broke down, some 1880 steam engine-locomotives broke down in winter, making it impossible to transport mountains of food stuff from Siberia and the Ukraine..the loyal household troops and cossacks had been scrificed on the fronts.
Had the tsarists regime had the loyal troops of 1914
am1966ath 1 year ago
@TheAnn2shoes and had the secret police assasinated Lenin,Stalin,bitch-Krupskaya and other bolsheviks there would not have been any revolution..communism thrives inb chaos and lawlessness..it need thugs, gangsters and mutineering soldiers to abolish old societies..when things are peaceful and orderly, where is the market for this kind of society??
am1966ath 1 year ago
Annsho It did prove it's good intentions, they did manifest. Yo, "in fact", actually know little, or nothing, do you? Please give eg. of where, "he believed he himself to be some kind of God"? Nicholas did not need "retrospect" and knew what nightmare was coming when the communists took over. His worst stated fears for the Russian people were, unfortunately, to come to pass. Under Nicholas, these same reactionaries were under, "enough control". It is you, provably, who knows, "exactly", nothing.
cholmain 1 year ago
@TheAnn2shoes If Russia was a, "police state", how come Nicholas abolished serfdom? Russia revolted because of bread and fuel shortages, no different in any other country in the war. The difference was that Germany spent vast amounts of money(while her people starved) on propaganda(which continues here today) against the Tzar and aided the traitor Lenin who promised bread and peace, but had actually none to give anyone, only worse, The Terror..

@TheAnn2shoes Name your source. He was not influenced by a madman, name your source.
cholmain 1 year ago
@cholmain The Tsarina had quite a lot of influence over her husband and it is common knowledge and well documented that she was influenced by Rasputin, who was unstable and was himself murdered prior to the execution of the Romanovs.
TheAnn2shoes 1 year ago
@TheAnn2shoes A perfect example that Rasputin, particularly, and the Tsarina(in matters of state etc.) had no influence over the Tzar was when neither could stop Rasputin's only son from being conscripted into the war, despite a personal appeal to stop it by the Tsarina, with her saying that Rasputin was heartbroken. Nicholas's short simple reply was, unsympathetic. You still have no source or example that he was influenced by a/any "madman."
cholmain 1 year ago
@cholmain Because the Tsar was totally involved with running the army, the governing of the country was left largely to the Tsarina - and Rasputin. It was she, under the influence of Rasputin, who fired Ministers. Everybody knows that she was unduly influenced by the 'mad monk', it is very well documented. That is why he was murdered.
TheAnn2shoes 1 year ago
2shoes It was not Rasputin nor the Tzarina who ran the country, this was done by ministers who were appointed by the Tzar. You are parroting communist propaganda again, basically outrageous unfounded claims. The letters between the Tzar and Tzarina have been quoted out of context again and again, to cause maximum damage. The whole affair can easily be sorted by anyone who reads then in whole. All decisions of state, as clearly shown there, rested with the Tzar, no matter what you try saying here
cholmain 1 year ago
@cholmain Alexandra was the dominant partner in the marriage. It is common knowledge that while the Tzar was busy running the army/war she was in a commanding position in government - hence the mistakes. I don't know what your problem is - I presume you think I have communist leanings, which I do not. Every source you will ever look at will tell you about Rasputin and his undue influence.
TheAnn2shoes 1 year ago
@TheAnn2shoes I gave the prefect example that Nicholas was his own man, and you ignored it, just like your, "every source" did.
