  • PLEASE, do not speak of Horus if you have no idea of egyptian religion. Any egyptologist would knock his head against a desk by just watching this video. EVERYTHING you said about Horus is false, my sources are egyptologist who DO know what they talk about. I know middle egyptian (glyphs), I'm an egyptian reconstructionist, I have lots of books by egyptologists, I worship egyptian gods, PLEASE stop spreading that trash about Horus, it insults us kemetics. Thank you!

  • @rosesandjazmines The information I got was from reliable sources.

  • if you want to try and debunk christianity then you really have along way to go.. from a historical and scientific stand point you havnt scratched the surface yet.. but happy digging anyway..

  • @MrLoudmouthspeaker I'm not trying to debunk Christianity. I'm trying to show the obvious connections between the religions so that Christians who hate us for being Pagan will realize that we're not that different.

  • @BlueFireWitch christianity stands alone but of course pagan religions that worship stars or moons ect would try and prove their worth - pagan beliefs including witch craft or new age beliefs have nothing to do with christianity

  • @MrLoudmouthspeaker There are plenty of similarities. Why not make a video? Austrailia has a Wal-Mart. You're on YT. To not make a video is cowardly.

  • Jesus was cucified for being a God man and you think people want to arbitrarily assign him as a God man using filthy egyptian pagan gods for what reason? Oh yeah! To conspire against nice little tree hugging child sacrificing pagans. Get over yourself and the fantastic lies you like to believe heathen woman.Narrow is the gate and you are missing it by a mile.

  • TND Mettinger, a non-Christian scholar from Sweden, did a count and found that the vast majority of scholars today reject the "pagan-parallel" thesis. Read his book "The Riddle of Ressurection."

  • you are 100 percent right.... im wiccan but i do belive that jesus was a real man but nothing more than a human my self and that he was really good at magic stage magic... i think he was a good magition....... becuse back then people would belive anything.....now adays if a man clamed that he was the son of god people would laugh in his face sooo...

  • Well, actually, I believe much of the Jesus story was taken or at least inspired by Pagan Myths. Though I am Christian, I am very Liberal & open-minded. I am a Universalist & I believe in freedom, LGBT Rights, feminism, etc. The "Religious Right" makes me gag. I don't deny that the Bible took a lot from Paganism. I don't deny Pagan influences. I don't accept the Bible 100% literally. I don't feel I have to. I don't deny the barbarism of the Old Testament but I still respect & honor Jesus Christ.

  • You are exactly the type of Christian other Christians deny the existence of.

  • Yup, I don't deny it. In my opinion, I'm a True Christian. I do what Jesus said to do: Feed The Hungry, Clothe The Naked, Heal The Sick, Stand up for the "Little Guy", etc. Jesu said, "whatever you do to these the least of my brethern, you do to me". Jesus lived a very poor, humble, simple lifestyle, he respected women in a world that didn't. He badmouthed the Pharassees & Sadducees, who were strict, hypocritical, rich & powerful religious types (the equivalent or todays Religious Right).

  • well said! Isn't there something in the Bible saying "You will know them by their fruits." ?

  • Yep! Don't mind that my messages got weird. I wasn't done with the previous messages. It's true, "You shall know them by their fruits"!

  • When the moneychangers were busy scamming folk in the temple, he stormed the place & knock everything over, hollering, "It is writen, 'My House shall be a House Of Prayer' but you have turned it into a den of thieves!" (I say, touche, televangelists). When Jesus said "I'm the way the truth & the life", he meant, "If you follow my way of living & ethics, you will see God" not "If you're a Christian...." many non-Christians are often are far more Christian than Christians!

  • @PuttyKittyHoney1975 Christian means to follow Christ. You have no clue. This is the way to salvation. The saved are pre-ordained so if you can't follow Christ and God's laws and live in sin and disobedience you have not been given grace to repent and can never be saved. Humble yourself to the Lord and you may be given grace. U see you don't get to twist the scriptures to make it sound all nice and cosy to you. You are an ant.

  • To you Christians out there, I remember reading an interesting insight from CS Lewis on this subject. He, a Christian was open to this "Parallel Christs" thing we're disgussing. His response was that perhaps these earlier Christ-figures, Mithras, Horus, Buddha, Krishna, etc. were forshadowing the coming of Jesus. An interesting theory. Also, the seer Edgar Cayce said they were all incarnations of the same "Christ Soul". All theories are valid, I'd say.

  • NO, we Mormons don't believe in 2 gods. We only believe in God the Eternal Father. No goddess. get it right

  • There's a Heavenly Mother in your religion right? We have a Heavenly Mother too. I'm not trying to insult you, I'm trying to relate to you.

  • Nope, no Heavenly Mother. Are you talking about Jesus' mother, Mary? We don't think of her as a Heavenly Mother. We only worship Heavenly Father

  • Catholicism views her as such. My aunt took me to see a woman who said she saw Mary come down from Heaven many a times.

  • @DeathofRogue Catholics are full of suspicious crap and are not Jesus's true flock. They are not saved at the second resurrection. Their soul gets destroyed in teh lake of fire.

  • wait, I'm confused. Do Pagans believe in Jesus or no? do they worship Him?

    just curious :)

  • Pagans are NOT Christians. Paganism is for the most part-preChristian. Although, like the Mormons, we do believe in a Goddess and God.

  • I totally agree. Christianity has Pagan Roots. I mean look at all the holidays. Also many saints were pagan Gods and Goddesses. Such as Saint Bridget of Ireland. Her Cross is the same as the symbol for The Celtic Bridgit, Goddess of the fire

  • What if Jesus was a witch, and they crucified him because he was doing witchcraft making people believe that he was the son of some God? We don't even know what he looks like but when I used to go to church they would say he's white lol how do they know? I do believe that Jesus was real, but we don't know the facts. reading the "bible" isn't good enough for me. This is my opinion so don't take it the wrong way. None of us knows the facts, but I do believe........and is it normal to hear voices?

  • you go Bluefirewitch!!! you seariously are awesome!!!

  • The prior video I posted entitled, "Seven Arguments Against the Christian Copycat Thesis" takes care of most of what you've said.

As for similarities between Jesus? I won't waste my time. KingDavid is offering $1,000 to anyone who can prove that true similarities exist between Jesus and pre-pagan gods.

I won't be allowing this video as a response.

  • No, your video doesn't debunk anything. Sorry, but this is history. Also, you don't have to approve it, but you've given me an excuse to direct my next 10 videos towards you. Thanks for responding.

  • Not a response I was looking forward to..

If you could prove the claims, that would be great..

    The money is waiting..

  • People who try to deny the truth always abhor hearing it. I sincerely doubt a biased organization would take archaeological evidence to heart. Since the evidence is overwhelming, they shouldn't have to have a challenge unless they've already denied the truth.

  • I agree, people who deny the truth are deaf in hearing. I'm not biased so I'm looking forward to actual historical texts.

  • I've already offered them. Both the Vedic texts and those texts in the Egyptian Book of the Dead date back further that any JudeoChristian text.

  • Most Christians try to disregard Massey (assuming you know of him) and his understanding of the Jesus-Horus parallels by attempting to imply that because he was a druid then he must therefore be inept at an understanding of ancient religion. Ever read "The Origin and Evolution of Religion" by Churchwood? It confirms just about everything that Massey wrote about the Jesus-Horus parallels and more. It's a brilliant book and he uses primary sources. You're in my favourites! :)

  • I'm familiar with Massey and Churchwood. I think that's what alot of Christians do, they try to discredit the author instead of going after the actual information. I look forward to your Christian debunking efforts.

  • I found it very interesting when Zeitgeist mentioned how this phenomena about the sun's and stars movement on the sky is like to the story of Jesus. I do believe that had a part to play in the meaning of the myth, however. The Mystics of old were aware of the Microcosm/Macrocosm concept. They knew that the universe was an image of something Higher. BTW. According to Poke Runyon the Nr 64 demon of The Goetia is highly likely to be Horus made demonic. I find that interesting

  • Intriguing.

  • I love Jesus and I also like the idea of Horus. Either way I'm still part Christian but I love seeing things from different perspectives. Great Vid 5* very interesting.

  • Another that has a lot in common, at least philosophy wise with Jesus would be the Buddha, and he was born several hundred years before the advent of Christianity as well. Though Buddhism isn't technically pagan, Alot of what Buddha said was said in similar ways by Christ.

  • Yes and Zoroaster seems very similar too.

  • Krishna was another :)

  • actually

Jesus Christ was born in the spring

I don't really know why they say that it's on 25th

  • Jesus was likely real. Hard to believe that two of the largest Religions mention a guy that never existed. They probably made him seem more Divine in the scripture then in real life. They just added local lore in the story.

Every Nation, Idea, Philosophy and Religion glorifies their founder in some way or another.

The "Apatheosis(spl) of George Washington", the mural in the Capital dome at D.C. is a great example.

  • I'm not sure the religioustolerance website is entirely accurate, but have your read The Jesus Mysteries by Freke and Gandy?

  • Religious Tolerance was a website approved by my the department of my religious studies as a scholarly source. If you don't agree, I suppose you can take that up with Dr Settles.

  • Fair enough.

  • He really thinks that? Wow! I see information on the corlations between Jesus and other Gods everywhere and in many many different traditions and beliefs. It is everywhere. You simply need to pick up a book.

  • Great video.

  • 5/5 and faved :) Yep, many folks forget Mithraism unfortunately. I like these latest videos here :) I need to re-start my gods and goddesses in mythology comparative religion series again. :) Thanks for posting these vids :)

  • Excellent!!! added to my fav's......

  • Thanks, this is really the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Paganism in Christianity. I plan on tackling the Pagan Hebrews as well.

  • Yeah, even Jewish orthodox scholars, agree that the story of Jesus sacrifice reveals itself as having many similarities with Pagan salvation myths.

  • Loved the video, great to finally see someone explaining it to people. I've tried to explain in so many ways, showing resources and I've came to the conclusive that people are ignorant and will always be ignorant and they'll protect whoever and whatever even if it's true or not true. Went to my friends 'gay' chuch and it really is a LGBT church and I explained in simplest terms but they even acted chidish, but anyway... loved the video!!!

    Brightest Blessings!!!

  • great vid

  • Thanks!

  • But Horus was born in a swamp, not a cave. As for the 3 wisemen and the 3 solar deities, well the Bible doesn't mention how many wise men came to see Jesus. This theory of His connection to Horus all started from a guy named Gerald Massey. =/

However, I still respect your theory...I just don't buy it because it appears that skeptics are stretching their imaginations in order to shrug off Jesus as just another myth. x3

    Peace,

    <3

  • Catholic Encyclopedia lists them as Gaspar, Melchior, and Balthasar

  • For the frog comment, you just got yourself blocked.

  • So wait you tell him to go ahead and refute you then block him?

  • block whom? Oh that guy, yeah, i figured he'd make a video response anyways, but he was warned about his comments before hand. We had several pms. So he brought that on himself.

  • I don't see how you can refute it, but fine, I'm sure it will be off topic and assume the Bible is true like other Christians do, Since you can't prove Jesus's Characteristics actually applied to him, and we know they are stipulated to older deities. You've tried to assume that these characteristics were applied to these deities after the fact, but the oldest text in the world can stipulate to that. Pretty much, you're owned already, There is no refutation, this is fact.

  • Actually, even egyptologists are severely skeptical about any "similiarities" between Horus and Jesus and the sources that give those comparisons have been called into question. Not to mention that any "similiarities" are not proof of copying.

  • Cite your source please. I never said they were proof of copying, only provided evidence to the early egyptian Christians syncretic natures. I pulled many articles from Egyptologists, Anthropologists and Mythology experts who all agree. One is posted in the description.

  • Also, this is not the only deity, but one of many including Krishna, Mithras, etc.

  • I don't know enough about Krishna (isn't that an eastern religion? geographical distance plus the fact that the believers were on the average among the poor makes me skeptical that they would have access to eastern religions); but, I do know Mithras is a totally out of the question. For instance, Mithras was born out of rock (though I guess the rock would have been considered a virgin). Of course there are 2 Mithras to consider: Roman and Persian I believe both fail the test however.

  • You're missing the point entirely. Watch the video, I said that it doesn't matter if they are exactly the same but that Jesus retains these characteristics that define him as Divine from previous Deities. They don't have to be exact,

  • Well, respectively, I think you should cross off Mithras as not even close when really studied. Actually, you would laugh where I first heard of Mithras (this is not a source btw). It was in an Arthurian fictional book by Mary Stewart called The Crystal Cave. It was written in the first person from Merlinus Ambrosius view and Uther was a worshiper of Mithras. Note again this is not a source on Mithras.

  • Hermes was also portrayed as a shepard at times wasn't he? The Bible seems plagiarized lol. I always found it slightly ironic that Christians worshiped a Jewish man.

  • Meri/t or Mery/t in Ancient Egyptian basically means "beloved." Therefore, Aset-Meri would mean "Beloved Isis."

  • Etymology suggests Miriam has the same meaning.

  • Doesn't surprise me. xD

  • I think it would be good to talk about the teachings that they may have had in common. Check out 'the jesus myth' and 'jesus and the goddess' by tim freke and peter gandy.
