My style is a mix of 60-70's continental jetset, fascism and 19th century imperial styles, and people in Europe think I'm crazy.

no, American Japanese people commonly take it as an offense due to that what soldiers called them during WWII.
Jap is just short for japanese and is more easy to fit into a sentence with fluency.
Does im a japanese sound beter then im a jap?

visual kei was created by japanese bands that copied styles from europe and north america such as kiss and that kind of boring glam bands that were famous in the 80's they mixed it with kabuki gayness and visual kei was formed, it was boring and gay at the beggining but nowadays is stylish and gramorous as you want it to be. WOW losers if it wasn't for Gwen Stefany who put that shit on American tv no one would care about it! and guess what we still don't care about it!!!! So SHUT THE FUCK UP CHINKSS!!!!!
It actually did come from the Western part of the world. The original idea at least. For example, anime/manga's idea came from comics/cartoons. Same goes for western style clothing.
Manga are comics and print cartoons, in the Japanese language and conforming to the style developed in Japan in the late 20th century. In their modern form, manga date from shortly after World War II, but they have a long, complex pre-history in earlier Japanese art..
It's also obvious that those kids like copying from other cultures. Or they would still be in Kimono's and what not that my ancestors wore. Just as some Americans like Japanese hairstyle, the same can be said for Japanese liking what Americans do.
haha bobalicous i live like 2 min away from that. that place is jus for the wack gangsters and little kids... its all bout green tea house and tapex. SD
aw, man. i can't believe they didn't specifically identify the Japanese Visual Kei scene... I didn't know you could talk about Harajuku with out mentioning that. At least half of those people were wearing costumes from Visual Kei bands... That really annoys me.
harajuku does not equal scene in anyway what-so-ever. harajuku isn't a style only, it is a whole subculture of expression and uniqueness with no rules or regulations.
Really? Then tell me why the scene hair is an exact copy of Ganguro hair? Whether you want to admit it or not, scene is definitely influenced by harajuku, especially due to the fact that REAL scene girls are Japan and manga fans while the fake ones like Kiki Kannibal are in it just for the fame.
I'm American and I utterly love harajuku fashion and I can't stand the fact that everytime I search 'harajuku' something from Gwen Stefani shows up. T3T
I asked some of my friends if they knew what harajuku really was ... they said she made it...
Just another thing America has attempted to steal from Japan!
actually the united kingdom is doing pretty well on that front! we have a huge lolita community, japanese rock nights, a parapara club an lots of visual kei bands play london ^^
if you like japanese visual bands be sure to see an cafe next year! you have to get tickets soon though ^^ also if you're interested in lolitas i recoment joining livejournal an searching for the main lolita communities ^^
I'm a huge fan of Japanese visual kei AND Gwen and after seeing her Harajuku Lovers collections I think that all she's doing is paying tribute to something she admires, the expressive and creative energies that people show off in the Harajuku district. Unfortunately it's the majority of her sheltered fans that seem to think that Harajuku is a style created by her.

Daido juku fashion is way better. the key to good fashion is being me ;D k my heart is japanese that means i have a lot of heart. o shit the hurricane is hitting i g2g tell u that theres no hurricane its a tornado. im eating tornado chips. thats fashion. look ok the master is also always the one who seems unknowing. I have the best feet :) ya cuz theyre big and muscular except so nicely shaped :). k thats rite. what happened? ya it was me. LOL :) k look, go buy a hampster come to montreal illbh
That's a load of bullshit. Visual Kei was started by the band X Japan and others. Later, other bands rose up and improved the style. Now, fans start trying the visual kei scene. The other's are other fashions like decora, kigurumi, ext. Please learn more about Harajuku's fashion before posting this comment.
This is where you and Gwen Stefani seem to be on the same page. You think Harajuku is a fashion style [or maybe you just made the same typo twice, IDK]
No I know it is a place. She made certain clothing that Harajuku. Because she did have nothing to do with the place and where/how the teens dress there. Everyone says thats her thing and Japanese people took it. When that is completely wrong. When I said she was Harajuku I was copying what some of her fans say and try to copy. I know it is a place for sure. I'm not that big of an idiot. But I also think that she is a celebrity weeaboo. Even though her fans wont like me saying that.
it doesnt look a thing alike xD! putting Harajuku on it doesn't make it Harajuku, fool.

aw, man. i can't believe they didn't specifically identify the Japanese Visual Kei scene... I didn't know you could talk about Harajuku with out mentioning that. At least half of those people were wearing costumes from Visual Kei bands... That really annoys me.

scene in america and sum in germany.
stuccomark 2 years ago
harajuku does not equal scene in anyway what-so-ever. harajuku isn't a style only, it is a whole subculture of expression and uniqueness with no rules or regulations.
XxXJinxyXxX 2 years ago

Just like 'scene' or 'emo'. I won't have it!
VISUAL KEI/OSHARE KEI FTW! o(^///^)o

She sorta introduced it to the western community.

Harajuku fashion is nothing but recycled Club Kids fashion from the late 80's in New York...Duh!!!
superchica14 3 years ago
That's a load of bullshit. Visual Kei was started by the band X Japan and others. Later, other bands rose up and improved the style. Now, fans start trying the visual kei scene. The other's are other fashions like decora, kigurumi, ext. Please learn more about Harajuku's fashion before posting this comment.

gwen did not create the harajuku fashions, but thanks to her, a lot of ppl learned about it.
curseabbie 3 years ago 6
True, but it still created more stereotypic gossip and stereotypes. But, I never got inspired from Gwen. My sisters got me into it and visual kei. x]

I hate how some people think Gwen is just so harajuku and how she started it. She didn't start harajuku and she had nothing to do with it.
NyappyDinosaur 3 years ago 15
I agree with you.....to a degree.
This is where you and Gwen Stefani seem to be on the same page. You think Harajuku is a fashion style [or maybe you just made the same typo twice, IDK]
Harajuku is a PLACE.
Shoryuji9 3 years ago 7
No I know it is a place. She made certain clothing that Harajuku. Because she did have nothing to do with the place and where/how the teens dress there. Everyone says thats her thing and Japanese people took it. When that is completely wrong. When I said she was Harajuku I was copying what some of her fans say and try to copy. I know it is a place for sure. I'm not that big of an idiot. But I also think that she is a celebrity weeaboo. Even though her fans wont like me saying that.
NyappyDinosaur 3 years ago 2
I agree with you more than a hundred percent.
It's very annoying when I see my classmates try the style, yet they do not know of it's origin nor the background of 'Harajuku fashion.'
It's very annoying and I know a lot of people feel the same way. No offense to Gwen's fans. . .
