I first watched this video back in 2008 when my son was 3 and my daughter was 7. It made me feel good to know that I was not alone in the universe. I come back to watch it now and in a more melancholy state wish I could have those times back again... They grow up way to quick don't they. Thank you.
David Crawford, you are truly a genius - thank you for putting such truth and hilarity and tenderness into song. I love it. Cate (mom of 2 girls in Colorado) (Have you been spying on us or what? How do you know all those things?)
I laughed so hard at the she's staring at me, "Aagh!!!" Done that very thing, and really did almost wet the bed and let her climb in bed a snuggle close to me. I love love love it. The best is the snuggle with your daughter at the end. I have three girls 6 and under and this might be our new theme song. Love love love it. Thank you!!
I know the pain! I have two kids who don't want to go to sleep tonite... about 3am in the morning... your wonderful song is helping me have the strength to deal with them when I want nothing more then sleep. God bless!
Like the previous poster, I too watch this every few months and each time I smile through most of it and tear up during the last part. Fabulous to invoke those kinds of emotions with a 4 minute song. How lucky your daughters are.
I refer to this video sooooo often!!! It has been years since I first saw it, but it still has the same effect on me every time. Thank you so much for being so creative...and for being the seemingly loving dad you are with your daughter. I couldn't have said it any better!!!
It'll be all worth it when they're parents...believe me...I know. My children have grown up to be wonderful, accomplished women and have given me 2 beautiful grandchildren with 2 more on the way. I can't wait.
I found this video ages ago and loved it. After much searching (brain gone since having kids! lol) and with many thanks to my friend JV I can enjoy it all over again.
I have watched this about 65734896534789564238957634589743659834765983476593847569843756349875717823478872946351267941237412373891386182378957847328 times.
Keep it coming! Can't wait to see what you'll come up with next. Really captures every aspect of being a parent...and I can't help but laugh (at myself) when I hear the exact words/thoughts I've "muttered" on too many occasions. Rock on, friend!
Just found this last week, and finally gave it a listen! You always were such a great songwriter and storyteller, I would have expected nothing less than this level of excellence from you! Sure can tell how happy and content your life is...keep on singing about it, and sharing it, too! Always wondered where you got to:-)
LOVE IT! The lyrics are perfect, and with two of my own (8 and 12 years old), I can totally relate. Bless you! P.S. Your family is so fortunate to have you...
From one dad to another, absolutley perfect. When i'm running low on patience or running low on energy i hear your version of Pachelbel's Canon D in the back of my mind and the humor of the difficulty makes such light or the situation. What else can you do other than go all in. They try to drive us mad but we've got one up one up on them... They're our kids and no matter how insane they drive us you and i both know we wouldn't have it any other way.
That was fabulous! My daughter gave it only 2 stars before I could stop her because she said the screaming part scared her, lol. But It was genius, we all enjoyed it! Especially when that little blonde head peeks out behind you, rofl!
ok.. I was sent this from a friend, I too have have three girls - twins(2yrs)and a 4yr old. This song epitomizes my life! I have now watched this a dozen times.. and each time I almost weep.. the ending is fantastic!!! make sure you let us know when your CD comes out.. Make sure we can get it from Canada.. THANKS AGAIN!!!!
My family loves this video! As a father of THREE beautiful girls, they will all tell you that I cannot make it to the end of this without tearing up. You really nailed it, and have given us a wonderful tool to help communicate the beauty of everyday life! God Bless You. Looking forward to your CD!
Watching this video has become part of our bedtime routine-- my 5 year old even tries to sing along. Sometimes we even catch him singing "AHHHHHH! She's staring right at me. . ." at odd moments during the day. And I definitely catch myself singing it during the day. Beautiful, and so true. Especially the end :-)
omg this is so awesome... i'm only thirteen but totally agree from babysitting experience! I can't wait to buy the cd. i am so impressed! thank you for this!
great song cant wait till the kids speak enough english to get it.... but it's any kids...there all the same...love the last bit.."the good outways the bad " XD
i substituted my boys and their karate, baseball, and basketball...and got a little teary at the end because i totally agree, the good out weighs the bad. btw they like to hear your song, but i have to replay it for my 5 yr old..he doesn't catch all the words ;) take care
