Constructive Criticism Rant

You made some very good points there, especially when you used shooting somebody in the leg as a metaphor. Its not impossible at all to get a disagreeing point across to somebody without using any insult, but people just want excuses to do it and get away with it. I use to be part of a forum where they always defended these actions with "you just cant take having your views challanged and contested"....ermm yes we can, when personal attacks arnt part of it

Something I just seem to notice is if somebody attempts to criticize somebody and there is an insult in there criticism, the thing that seems to stick out a good portion of the time is the insult, and people seem to only pay attention to the insult or focus on it the most and completely ignore the rest of criticism and point that was presented.

Like if I say "hey you might need a new car because your current car is very old you stupid assturd". The thing that will stick out the most is probably stupid assturd, and the person will probably feel insulted and only think that person is out to insult them and make them feel bad rather then considering getting a new car because there current car is old and dying. Had the person left out the stupid assturd insult the guy with the car might have focused more on the advice of getting a new car.

Well done Jared! Anyone of any age can either criticize or insult others. I've had my fair share of temper tantrums as well as anybody else. I even know that even if it's really constructive criticism, some people would still feel insulted and take it personally.

yeah I admit I could do better with taking constructive criticism as well, sometimes i take it the wrong way especially when it comes to lifting, I was thinking of making a similar rant to this only it revolves around weightlifting criticism.

well said, there is a big different between criticism and bashing. One is to give info how to improve something while the other is just to insult something.

i agree with you, but i have had my moments where there were some words exchanged. honestly tho this guy desevered it, and it was just a guy that commented on a video not the actual video itself.

I have had my moments as well, but in the end I learned it didn't solve anything and only ended pissing the guy off more in the end.

Were only human, humans get mad every now and then and let off some steam. All we can do is try our best, perfection is not expected.

Exactly, sometimes people are driven to the points of extreme anger, thats how humans are, we get mad, we get sad, we get happy, its only human nature to lose it eventually.

Best you can do is learn from it and try to do better. Life is about learning.

Great rant for not doing anything in awhile. I hate people who think destructive criticism works. I know someone IRL who knows alot about Magic: The Gathering. But the thing about him is he uses a mix of constructive and destructive criticism. He will tell the person tips on how to improve their decks while at the same time call them all kinds of insults like retard and racist insults because they didn't do a certain thing right.

What do you have to say to those kinds of people, Jared?

lol jard i see a mistake i nyour rant. in your first example you said you were going to tell how you like dogs better than cats. but then in example 1, you talk about how cats rule and dogs suck on your big hard cawks.

Dave I never said i was going to explain my opinion on why I like dogs better then cats I said I was going to explain someone's else opinion on the subject not my own, I simply listed a example of someone disagreeing with me on why I like dogs better then cats, the example was an example of being disrespectful in trying to prove his point and lacking in proving why cats are better then dogs in his opinion.

I hate when people use the constructive criticism card as a means to insult someone free of charge, then when people reply they just say oh well its just constructive criticism its there fault for getting upset, when it clearly wasn't constructive and was destructive instead.

I think that person should just offer constructive criticism, I bet he offends people more often when he insults them, people tend to respond better to constructive criticism because it tends to be nicer.
