ok anyone who hasn't watched back and forth this song is actually about an old ex girlfriend of dave's it's not about kurt or taylor but he does admit that when he plays or hear's the song he can't help but think back to past mistakes he's made were he's been in the same situation such as kurts death and when he invited krist to play bass on this i think this was his way of saying sorry for his past mistakes and saying 'I Should have known' and done something about it when he had the chance
