I love it when the musician leave nothing left of themselves after the performance, I mean they pour it all out and that's what i saw in this video. Great moments include adjusting some knob on the guitar effects pedals and the breakdown, sudden quiet dynamic after the slide solo (oh yeah and of course the pounding of the beat on the Dobro during the solo) GREAT STUFF!!
I agree, the new album isn't as angry or full of loud emotion, the let down with this version was that it wasn't on their debut album only the live EP
Yeah, Mercy is toned down, but I kind of expected that from Lanois, usually that's how his stuff goes. That doesn't make it a bad album, though. But I still prefer "I Trust You To Kill Me" (the album).
You can find this mp3 on amazon. Search all departments with the song title; it's on the album "Call + Response". I'm thrilled it's been released! I was disappointed that it wasn't on their debut album. This is an awesome song!!
Have you ever seen the documentary on Rocco, it's really good. Nobody can play a dobro like this guy, and sing, oh my God, this guy can sing. I really wish he would have put this song on the album. It's a great album, regardless, I think he is very original.
This isn't that original...there are quite a few players who can play slide...one of the best being Bonnie Raitt.
Even better than her was the master of the Slide, Son House. I'm not saying he's bad, but I'd give him a mediocre at best..you can add all kinds of distortion to this but it's still slide blues guitar
I didn't leave a comment to start an argument about great slide guitar players, Besides Bonnie and Son there are probably hundreds of people who play just as well if not better than Rocco, I just really like his music, and his music isn't like any of the other "new" music that is out right now. Or I should say at least none that I personally have heard. I just love music in general. That's all..
No it's cool. I'm just one of those who listen to a broad range of music...from Country to Pop to heavy metal...but I don't think any of those styles of music could be anything without the Blues.
No means was I meaning to argue..I was just trying to make a point.
There's a saying I heard and I forgot who said it...."Blues are the roots...the rest is the fruits"
conformity pumps shitty poppy/ emo/ death metal music with no meaning or passion into kids heads, but the blues is still out there... man, I wish more kids my age would understand the true meaning behind the blues...
Lyrics: to xjames Born in... this world unknown high pitched white boy... learning slow ohhhh I trust you to kill me Ask for nothing, get nothing in return. Catch a fire, and watch it burn Ohhh I trust you to kill me (x2) Ohhh.... Ohhhh... Ohhh... I trust in you... Ask for nothing get, nothing in return Catch a fire and watch it burn Ohhh... I trust you to kill me (until song ends) My band covers this song. (I can actually do the vocals if you believe it...)
o also i don't mean this in any bad way at all but i've seen some pics of rocco and the blonde bass player and i'm curious is rocco gay if he is fine i thinks he's great all the same just curious if anyone do tell if not fine
I watched the documentry about this band and it got me amped up. I went to look out for his stuff then discovered he had playing in New Zealand the day before. THE DAY BEFORE. I nearly ripped my hair out cause i would have loved to have seen them live!
i heard there song -colorfull- on the radio whwhich was really cool because i figured since they were such a good rock group no one would play their music but u would like to hear this song on the radio when i watched this doc on vh1 i kind af got the feeling that kiefer sutherland was just in for the party in europe did anyone else think that too???
i saw them on roc docs too thats how i heard of them just when you think theres no hope for rock guys like this come along and the white stripes drop a great album we need more bands like this
AH! hahahahahahahah
i liked the documentary, i like the band, i like the album...but, (theres always a but, right?)...The only thing i didnt like was that my favorite song (I Trust You to Kill Me) wasnt on the album! It sickened me! It was almost like I could feel my excitement for the band falling off. Sad! so so sad! Whoever laid out the songs for the album should be fired!
Rocco is one of the greatest singers i have ever heard, the album is a big dissapointment, but the live stuff is incredible, they need to record a live album, i think they need to feed of the crowd, which they cant do in a studio.
i think the reason he doesnt have any street cred is because he doesnt fit that "corporate teen image" that todays crap bands have. he is like 30 i believe, and music companys wouldnt sighn him because of that, makes me sick, i think this is the way music ought to be, pure, like the The White Stripes, Black Keys, they are true to their music. Besides Classic Stuff this is about all that todays music bid has to offer to me, but hey,no one has to agree, im just babling.
Ironworks doesn't have complete control over RDB anymore, but he still is contracted by them. If you want to know for sure then send a message to them on MySpace, you should get a response back from Rocco's uncle. OR go to their website and ask a question in their "Speak To Me" message board.
I have the album. And I know the band is still with Ironworks. It says it on their Myspace page. Kiefer Sutherland talks about them and the label frequently on talk shows. They never left that label.
Where did he say this? And why are they on the Ironworks website? And not mentioned on the Warner Bros. Music site? Why on their Myspace page do they have Ironworks under their label?
I think the issue here might be that, sometimes smaller labels, independent ones like IronWorks, will partner with larger labels, like Warner Brothers, to help with the marketing/touring costs for a band. It's kind of like a co-ownership thing. IronWorks brought RDB into the world, but they're getting a little bit bigger now and going on larger sponsored tours like the VH1 YOK this past spring and now they're out with Keane - they might need that bigger label to put themselves out there more.
ITYTKM, plus 4 other tracks...all available on iTunes...Live Session Extended Play. Rocco playing his dobro is an amazing experience to behold. You've got to catch a live gig to get the full treatment! Whoaaaa!
