I recreated some graphics to fit the higher resolution but most of the code is the same. You can easily port a XNA Zune game in some hours (or less). But the Application Certification Requirements for Windows Phone Marketplace need some extra code, so the final touches to really release a game on the marketplace need more time than the pure port itself.
Hey this is pretty good work, and I noticed in another comment that you do this on your own. I am duly impressed. I'm learning how to drum myself actually, I don't know if this would actually help me get better, lol. But it does look like fun,
I love the idea of the ability to move the drums around and customize them, but the menus look like something ported from an old version of Mac OS IX. To be honest, its kinda ugly. (the silver at the top looks okay though)
I think like @geekomite said, you should stick to the Metro design. At least to a degree. You know, keep it more clean cut with less gradients and rounded corners (like on the top of the pop-out menus)
Very cool.... I like the UI alot... and you don't have to stick with the metro stuff... I like as the settings boxes are movable..
But it could do with a little more polishing on the graphics side... Make them look more professional and cooler... else this is wonderful.. I love it... thanks
I mean your contextual menus and settings. I would consider reading the UX template and guides posted by Microsoft. It is important that even games and fun apps like this are consistent in terms of UI and navigation.
@MonoRec88 The problem with this app is that the UX MS aims is not fitting here. I need moveable windows and the whole UI would look as if it does not belong to the Drum Machine app if I design it like the rest of the WP7 UI.
I may think about this again but for now it's like it is.
@geekomite I asked a guy from Microsoft (my local Evangelist) and he agrees with me that the GUI Templates are designed for Silverlight apps and not to XNA games. Games should come with their own GUI. How exciting will games look when they stick to a 2 color Metro GUI?
@ag9529 This is already possible on the ZuneHD so I am pretty sure it will be possible on the WP7, too. But it doesn't matter because I will add the playback of your song library anyway. So you can chose your songs in Drum Machine right away.
man, sorry for my english, i am brasiliam. I wanna run this app on my windows 7, how i can do it?
Is there any chance to run this application on android?

@asuma1105 Sorry for the late reply. Windows Phone 7 is the new smartphone OS from Microsoft. This app is for those phones :)

I love this. This looks like a direct port of the XNA app on the Zune. How long did it take you to port that over?

looks great!
And also think that a game like this can't be restricted to metro.

Either that, or go with a more colourful or less gray coloured menu. The gray screams essences to the iPhone/iPod UI.

I hear some hesitation in the metronome. =/

Better UI controls and contextual menus, and you have a winner. Love the graphics.

@MonoRec88 What do you mean with better UI controls and contextual menus? Any examples?

@DiNoGames Try sticking the the Metro design language of WP7. That UI doesn't match anything and looks ugly.

This is the best windows phone 7 application I've seen thus far!
RegiStrejsn 1 year ago
Very well done. It would be cool if WP7 did 3rd party multitasking so we could play the drums along with our own music collection.
