@jessEferrick1 Hi, thanks glad you like it. The liver i'd go for is either from a cow or sheep and you can get it either from your local butcher or at the meat counter at the deli or supermarket.
I will have my new fammily member at home in 2 more weeks and so far he's taking only his Mom's nursing diet:)
Can I feed my 7 week puppy (by then) with these treats, I'll use them for training mainly. How soon can I start feeding him Raw Great Food? Thanks in advance for your appreciated answers ;)
@84marconet Hi, You can start a raw food diet as soon as you get him home. By this age he will have teeth for ripping and tearing, think chicken wings/necks, chunks of raw green tripe, pieces of chicken, soft lamb breast on the bone, a few crushed/mashed veggies of a choice he takes to. 3/4 meals a day up to 4 months of age at around 5 to 10% of pups weight.
Let your pup do the work on the pieces, if he has problems, crush it a little with a steak tenderiser.
my dog loves a bit of sugar so for a treat i made a sugary treat i got a sugar block put it into a mixture of normal dog food then i made a square and my dog loves it and it isnt healthy well it wont cause any thing but i give her 1 per day if she trains good i give her more but then i swap treats
@Vogel885 Hi, remember it's not cooking, that's what we are trying to avoid with this method so all the goodness is retained. Yes by all means use a hydrator.
And yes your lovely little Maltese will love them to bits, enjoy.
I know this must sound wierd but what is something that is sticky enough to stick something together, but dogs can still have it. I know honey is bad for pups and adults can only have a tea spoon but i would need more then that, can anyone help?
You are such a great help. Recently my dog started itching like crazy because of food allergies. Now i can stop feeding him those commercial treats. Thanks!
@blo0m4ever Hi, Thanks this is great to hear, so happy to help dogs feel so much better. "itching like crazy" is a big big problem for dogs consuming not just commercial dog treats but kibbles and canned too. Free your dog with healthy food-they deserve it!
Hi there, well your looking to have the oven at it's minimum setting, then it can take 3 to 6 hours. Keep the strips thin to keep time down, the process is ...sloooow so as NOT to cook the food which means all the goodness is saved and your dog really benefits.
@danscot888 I'll be sure to make these for my dog soon. Thank you!!

Haha I do exactly the same but use a dehydrator its easy

@PurebredLondon Yes, well said, a dehydrator is the best method but most don't own one so the oven is the eay way to go.

Great treat recipe, Can you also do this with chicken?
alwayscookin1 2 years ago
Hi, sorry for the late reply.
Yes you can do this with chicken. Again slim strips and take the time to dry them out slowly with a large batch, then you can freeze some.
