  • WOW! I have been looking for a fix for this for years! It works like a charm! Thank you so much.

  • Yes, thanks a bunch. Worked first time.

  • jeah it works! The explorer is the troublemaker. thx a lot

  • i've got the same problem with colours but no matter what i do (batch file, resolution window, preferences) it doesn't work for me. after a short time playing the colours go weird and after days of reading posts to this topic i found a file called "Hellfire 32&64-Bit ColorFix.zip" in the lurkerlounge but wasn't able to download or register - maybe i am a spammer wtf - but the file changes or adds something to the registry files for fixing the colour problem. can anybody help me out please?

  • Thanks bro the .bat file worked perfect for me.

  • Thnx alot mate!!! :D!

    Worked out pretty smooth :)

  • Very nice. It's a kludge, but it **WORKS**. Thanks! =)

  • Ive done every trick. EVERY TRICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ive tried right clicking on the desktop and clicking the screen resolution thing, ive tried ending explorer.exe, ive tried all the compatibility settings. IT STILL DOESNT WORK!!!!!! HOWOWOWHWOHWO!!!!!!!!!

  • @gruntshunts123 You even tried my .bat file?

  • @kartyac i did, but i later found the in the hellfire folder version is the only one that will work for my computer. Dont know why. yes i typed in the file location correctly when i made the desktop version. So funny enough i just made the in the hellfire version on then made a shortcut to that one from the desktop to make it more convienent. Its kindof funny having a shortcut to a bat file. I just dont get what the difference is lol.

  • Guys, a much faster and simpler way to do this is just to use task manager. Open it, and end explorer.exe process. Then open Hellfire.exe though task manager. Then, when you're done, open explorer.exe though task manager.

    Simple, easy, basic.

  • @YawnGod That's exactly what this bat file does... The bat file is easier because it's a shortcut to hellfire that does all this for you... How could doing all this manually be simpler, easier or more basic? I guess if you're really paranoid and don't understand how a bat file work then this is the method for you... Still, if you don't know how the bat file works then how would you expect anyone to know how to open hellfire through task manager... Just saying

  • @kartyac @echo off does make me paranoid.

You're mean. I'm probably going to have nightmares now.

  • @YawnGod Haha I'm not mean!

You could turn echo on with the same results, I dunno, I just prefer it that way. You could just edit the bat file to see what it contains before running it anyways. Oh well, I'm off to be mean and frighten more youtube users...

  • works perfectly, just tested. scanner says its a firus but lets you dl the file as txt anyway. just gotta change it back to bat and the game loads nicely.

  • This one will work, but it's not actually a fix. It kills the explorer to avoid the problem. Thats like crashing a door to get through, instead of using the right key.

  • @Firnblut Explorer reopens once you close hellfire. Where is your fix for the problem? Oh, I see...

  • It's saying its just a txt file...How do I change the file type?

  • @wolvebane2 You can do this two ways, you can open it in notepad save it as hellfire.bat and that should do it. If that doesn't work, go to your control panel, open up folder options, go to the view tab, scroll until you find the check box "hide extensions for known file types." Locate the file and rename it that way.

  • It works, thanks a lot. You don't even need to use taskmanager just press any key after closing hellfire and explorer will run again.

  • i downloaded it and put in hellfire folder.. it doesnt work

  • @sebendebi23

Are you still double clicking hellfire.exe to launch the game? If so, that's your problem.

Double click the hellfire.bat and it will start the game without the rainbow colors.

  • @kartyac can u make a video of doing that thing..

  • @sebendebi23 What I'm saying is after you put the file into the hellfire directory, to launch hellfire, you have to double click the file you just put in there. It's named hellfire.bat

  • Comment removed

  • @sebendebi23 Okay.. I think you should download it again, put it in the directory and double click it. If that doesn't work try opening it with command prompt I'm not really sure how else to explain it..

  • @kartyac i change the .bat into .exe but still doesnt work, there is a 16 bit MS-DOS system is says..

  • IT WORKS!!!!!!! thumbs up! if you close the game after using this method and everything is not loaded then ctrl + alt + del then in taskmanager run explorer.exe!!! i have no ideo how this fuckin worked...

  • @USMCxFirefly

    Glad it worked for you!

  • Worked for me.

  • just qa question but i cant seem to find anybody talking about connecting in battlenet on diablo 1 windows 7 for me it doesnt work no matter what i do anyone know a solution?

  • @DeV1LSn0w I believe that battlenet for daiblo is long gone. The only thing you really can do is learn how to connect via LAN which is a huge bitch because the game is so ancient... I know its sad. I remember playing diablo on dialup with no lag whatsoever. If you want to play online you'll have to get diablo II sadly.

  • I don't see this video to have any problem, all he was showing was the dos batch file content (you can write it by your own without download anything.)

I am still looking for other methods to fix the Hellfire color issue, closing explorer.exe everytime I play Hellfire is so evil :P

  • fake, virus and gay.. don't download the link everyone!

  • @KhPharos You're fake, virus and gay. I'll never download you.
