You know, with all the discussion of "IF" you could have Mercer's powers, consider this. We have adrenaline glands that stimulate physical activity (i.e. increased temp, heart rate etc etc.). Scientists (believe it or not) are trying to find methods of inducing short bursts of hyperactive ability (i.e. organic steroid-like hormones) via adrenaline glands to allow superhuman abilities for a limited time. Its quite scary actually, thinking of having Mercers destroying everything of the future.
