hey, first of all, journey was journey even before perry came in, and he left, so its just natural for the left ones to look for replacements. it wasnt arnel who wanted to be the "one" replacing perry, it was JOURNEY who wanted him in so dont curse him. it was journey's decision and they made the right one picking this Filipino talent.

What amazes me is the discipline that AP has imposed on himself over the years where he had to preserve the quality of his voice by not taking anything that would jeopardize his vocal chord, like cold drinks, etc. that's discipline not taught to rock singers. not a surprise why MANY rock singers have left the scene because they couldn't sing or deliver anymore.
Note those of you are critiquing this performance of AP - this is FIRST LIVE performance b4 thousands of Journey Fans - this was a LOT of pressure - he was crazy nervous b4 he went on stage - but now he's got everyone believing - I met him and he's one humble guy - he actually took time to meet up with us, not a meet n' greet!

I'm not a big Journey fan, however, I love this song and I enjoy Steve Perry who I think is a great singer. I am a big fan of the Temptations. It's intriguing to me to read these comments about the young man singing lead for the band now. It's eerily similar to the way Tempts fans discount everything the group does because the originals are not there any more. It takes great courage to continue an original. They should be respected for the effort to remain true to the originals' standard.

Well, a lot of radio stations stick to "classic" rock and "classic" songs. People think new CDs don't sell as much because of downloading and other stuff. I think it's because people compare an artist's new stuff to their classic stuff and say it's not as good. For example, I just got the new Def Leppard CD and a lot of the reviews aren't good but I like the CD. I think KLOS, the classic rock station in California, will be playing new Journey soon

This is the end of my interest in the "new" Journey. I'm going to stick to the old Journey I grew up with, because things with them are just going from bad to worse...
You can never replace the original, but your old Journey does not exists anymore, only in CDs and tapes. If you lost your interest, that's alright, lots of people enjoy the "new" Journey anyway except you..
if he moves too much people complain...if he doesn't move ppl complain... some want him to be unique .. some want the old stufff...it's his style and he's fabulous!

If you were REALLY a Journey fan, like you say, you would ACCEPT any new singer that they were to get. Arnel is doing a GREAT job! Steve Perry couldn't be with them forever, because of Bone condition, and his hip problem. I know most of us also wished that he could still be with them, but that is never going to happen. Even HE says so himself.

I'm not a big Journey fan, however, I love this song and I enjoy Steve Perry who I think is a great singer. I am a big fan of the Temptations. It's intriguing to me to read these comments about the young man singing lead for the band now. It's eerily similar to the way Tempts fans discount everything the group does because the originals are not there any more. It takes great courage to continue an original. They should be respected for the effort to remain true to the originals' standard.

Well, a lot of radio stations stick to "classic" rock and "classic" songs. People think new CDs don't sell as much because of downloading and other stuff. I think it's because people compare an artist's new stuff to their classic stuff and say it's not as good. For example, I just got the new Def Leppard CD and a lot of the reviews aren't good but I like the CD. I think KLOS, the classic rock station in California, will be playing new Journey soon
