So true about the HORSEMAN! He established Black quartets and preachers as well through that late night radio format...

Although Horseman was white, he may have done more to promote black Gospel than anyone thru WLAC. He played the latest recorded sermons and Black Gospel music back when their were not a million radio stations and very, very few that played Gospel. Beside the Horseman, the only Gospel programming was on Sunday mornings.

@Braztx My dad brought us up listening to Horseman Allen on WLAC of Nashville. I moved to Baton Rouge and listened to him until they change the format in the late 80's. The quartet era will not be the same. He did a lot to promote all quartets by playing their new songs, interviewing the artists and announcing the concerts. That led to promotions for their records and albums, which my family bought a lot of and attended the concerts. I grew up to book many of them (that is a different story).
