  • **applause** **applause** I can see the guns, keep clapping! **applause****applause**

  • How ironic

  • I prefer the Korean People's Army orchestra over that NY. If there's another concert better a joint concert between the two.

  • Beautiful anthem, beautiful country, pathetic regime.

  • Long live Unified KOREA!!!

  • ONE OF THE BIGGEST PIECES OF SHIT I HEARD. THIS IS SHIT COMPARED TO THE STAR-SPANGLED BANNER.

  • how i love this anthem

  • the MBC is south korean broadcasting station. then does that mean it only aired to south korea and the other (america and south korea friendly) countries by MBC? people in north korea could never have the chance to actually watch this happend?

i noticed american flag there.... it might be just another "show" pulled off by north to... :/

  • @wrongforthat they could watch it bro. This concert was at the height of the so-called 'sunshine policy' towards the North and just after Clinton had visited it. There's a documentary here on youtube or at least there used to be about brining the NY Philharmonic over to the DPRK and the reaction to their presence.

  • @u01mph Oh thx for clearing things up :)

  • Damn, that's even better than O'Canada

Wish we could hold internet votes to choose our own anthems; it'd be badass to have a trance song as a national anthem

    (maybe a Euro country?)

    =3

  • It's a very stately-sounding and majestic anthem but it represents a repressive government that has no regard for it's people, only it's own self-interests at the expense of it's citizens!

  • @cirasoni09

saying homo makes you sound like a retard

  • I'm sure the musicians all felt like scrubbing themselves vigorously with soap and water after doing this bit.

  • If youtube were communist, we would all get the same number of thumbs up

  • who would ever thought you'd ever see the N. Korean flag and US flag in the same room?

  • Leave it to the US to shock all of NK by performing the best version of there anthem.

  • DPRK are commie bastards

    long live South Korea

  • @NorWegiansoldier1234

communism is not bad. it's actually good idea. the only problem is that kim jong il is using up the people by tricking them with that beautiful idea. it's that kim jong il sucks. communism is great idea. it's just that north korean governemnt is not doing good communism policy.

  • @Sasilmin is there or was there ever any place on this planet, where the communism was done as good communism policy? I was living in the similar sh-t. NO THANK YOU !!!

Do you live in some nice place where they still have communism? If not, feel free to relocate.

  • @pedronek Communism, like fascism, is good on paper. But when put into practice it always fucks up because of one thing: Human ambition.

Hell the only species that have a perfect Communist society are bees.

  • @pedronek

not quite. but communism made people very kind hearted and helpful. just look at russia.

  • @Sasilmin lol

  • Fuck off!

  • What does US policy have to do with the situation on the Korean peninsula? Well nothing I guess dumbo. I dont care much for your cretinous oppinion, but I dont own Youtube so you are free to say what you want, as are we all.

  • @AndreHiltre I am well aware of US involvement in both Koreas, my dad was stationed right on the border between the two.

And sure you are free to say anything you want on youtube! You seem to exercise this regularly

    /comment_search?username=AndreHiltre

Good thing we both live in countries where we have freedom of speech huh? Especially with your idiotic stream of pathetic attempts to troll. Honestly I did LOL at your comments about black people though.

  • @clayto1332 Why you racist son of a bitch!

  • @AndreHiltre Haha hey, take it as a compliment. Even though I am smarter than you I still have a sense of humor...

  • @clayto1332 Come on pal, any man who sits there typing on the internet that he's smarter than someone he's never met is one thing for sure, Not smarter than the guy he's typing to!

  • @AndreHiltre Unless the person that he is typing to on the internet has proven himself incompetent like you have. Just sayin...

  • @clayto1332 I think you've demonstrated your lack of intelligence.

  • I remembered watching this entire two-hour spectacle on live television. CNN was the only news network to devote the entire two hours into a classical music showcase.

  • @gurimrippa I want to see it; do you know if they have the entire 2 hours on yout?

  • Very nice music actually

  • Was this really in North Korea? I have a VERY hard time believing that this was performed in North Korea, solely due to the fact that there is a US flag standing there. That would never be allowed, even in this venue.

  • @charlesaferg Believe it or not it was in the DPRK. It was during the so called 'sunshine policy' shown towards the DPRK by the Bush admin and the South Korean government. Around 400 American diplomats travelled to the DPRK for this concert which was the largest group of US citizens to enter the DPRK since the start of the Korean war. The diplomacy ultimately didn't work now and the two countries are back to the previous state of high tension.

  • Very good American Pig.

  • nnorth korean women have to wear freaking HAMBOKS! still.... wow... south korea a major womens fashion contributer... compared to north korea....

  • @y0205879 조선옷은 좋아

  • @y0205879 Hey! It was a major occasion! And besides, some hanboks are meant to be worn only for official reasons and not for everyday wear. The everyday hanboks usually DON'T have sequins and super bright colors, and are usually really dull to look at.

  • wow the north korean anthem actually sounds pretty nice

  • @samyim795 Its almost the same as the South Korean anthem..

  • @samyim795 Sounds very similar to the Russian Nation Anthem

  • @samyim795 hm, a nice country has a nice anthem and a bad country has a bad anthem, makes sence

  • @samyim795 The worst regimes usually have the best music. Very inspirational.

  • Comment removed

  • @preemptivestrike20 Idon't think so, US Regime music is terrible!

  • @alienwatcher93 I'd expect such a stupid comment from someone who idolizes one of the great mass murderers in recent history.

  • @samyim795 nt rlly in my opinion

  • I wanna sniff Kim Jong's anus! or at least his guch

  • @zKa0sz- That's... very strange.

  • Beautifull anthem.

  • i heard north koreans rarely sing their national anthem...instead, they sing the hymn for Kim Il Sung ans Kim Jung Il...such a beautiful music for an evil regime...

  • I know I saw one slant say, FK this SHT !

  • The first few notes of the Anthem were very similar to those of the Soviet Union.

  • Here's hoping that one day we can listen to this music and know the lousy country it was made by is a memory. Just like we can do today with the anthem of the DDR.

  • the power of music is universal

  • nice song!

  • After Kim Jong-il dies.. North Korea will be like China.. in 1989

wait 10 years.. after North Korean leader Kim Jong-il dies

and you will see North Korea boom faster than China did.

North Korea would be 50 times better after 10 years of Kim Jong-ils death.

  • @111i1011 My dad said that when kim jong il dies, then there will be war because of his son, no one knows if his son is bad or not... but im hoping the koreas will unite.

Sergeant Yi - 82nd Airborne Division HOOAH

  • @ILuvToBreakdance- A MSG who was in the 82nd is at Hargrave Military Academy now. He started out as a tanker, became a paratrooper. Awesome dude. And I agree with your statement, by the way.

  • @Jurassic0Al Wait so u went to a military academy???

  • @ILuvToBreakdance- Did I?

  • @Jurassic0Al yes did you?

  • @ILuvToBreakdance- What? Oh, yes. I did.

  • @Jurassic0Al Was it hard?

  • @ILuvToBreakdance- A quick note- if you really want to talk about subjects in that range, you should probably send me a message. 'cause that isn't too relevant to the NY Philarmonic playing in North Korea.

But yes, it was. It was also entirely worth it.

  • @Jurassic0Al true.... and ok

  • @ILuvToBreakdance- Yep. That's what I'm here for. Answering questions and stuff.

  • great anthem, but no great nation........

  • fuck north korea man

  • In North Korea, music makes you.

  • @552ClanChancellor

In Soviet Russia, music plays you!!

In Communist Vietnam, music hears you!!

In Communist Cuba, music performs you!!

In Pre Kim Jong-il North Korea, music sings you!!

In Kim Jong-il era North Korea, music Kim Jong-ils you!!

  • Notice how everyone stood up...

  • no one clapped their hands at the end of the video...

  • @ImAPainTer80 That's the correct attitude. Never clap the hands after a execution of a National Anthem. It's completely disrespectful.

  • @filipedafonseca

Disrespecting national anthems is the most patriotic thing you can do!

  • @filipedafonseca I think it depends of the culture

but what should we do instead then?

  • @Moraud5386 Stay in silence, in respectful position and await the following of ceremony.

  • @filipedafonseca in which culture? cause for instance, even the prince Charles of UK and the whole aristocrats clap their hand after the UK's anthem. (watch?v=DnuoGOo3Bew)

In Chicago, the people often calps their hands permanently while they sing the anthem, not to disrespect but to cheer it (watch?v=NBAwmcX139w)

so I wanna know in which culture please?

  • @filipedafonseca in which culture? cause for instance, even the prince Charles of UK and the whole aristocrats clap their hand after the UK's anthem. (watch?v=DnuoGOo3Bew)

In Chicago, the people often calps their hands permanently while they sing the anthem, not to disrespect but to cheer it (watch?v=NBAwmcX139w)

so I wanna know in which culture please? maybe in asian or north korean culture because they don't in this video

  • @filipedafonseca I guess it cut off before the clapping lol

  • @therealjarett I doubt strongly. North Koreans are very dedicated on the ceremonies...

  • @filipedafonseca I didn't know that...? In California we always cheer/clap during the star spangled banner at the small pause between "o say does that star spangled banner yet wave" and "o'er the land of the free and the home of the brave"... I think its totally a cultural thing, because we do it to instill pride and patriotism. Either way, its important to know what each other's cultures do because I certainly would not want to do something disrespectful in someone else's land. :)

  • @avgustinR First the North Korean then the US national anthems were played at the beginning of the concert. The audience applauded after the US national anthem

  • @filipedafonseca The video was cut off before they were about to clap.

  • @CookiesAndGuns95 I'm sure it differs from country to country, but many people consider it disrespectful to clap after a National Anthem - along the same lines as clapping after a funeral hymn would be considered direspectful.

  • @ImAPainTer80 LOL i think only us Americans do it.

  • Get down Communist and all your Commies system: China,N Korea,Cuba, Vietnam

followed your mother bear Russia and go to hell!

Fuck off Kim,Mao,Fidel Castro and Ho...u all go to Hell with Lenin and Stalin!

  • @CharlieDoan None of those were actually communist. They all clamed to be, but never really got rid of the capitalist system. And do you even know the difference between socialism and communism? If you did then you would know that NK, the USSR and THE SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM only claimed to be socialist. And they still were not socialist. Please do reasearch before making a comment. Also stalinism is different from communism. There has never really been a true communist or socialist nation

  • @CharlieDoan ----------Get down Communist and all your Commies system: China,N Korea,Cuba, Vietnam"------->China stopped following ANY trace of Socialism ever since Deng Xiaoping took power, today as per GINI rate it is more capitalist than the US. N. Korea follows Juche. Vietnam is a full fledged ASEAN member. And Cuba has 6th highest HPI (pop. content rate- google HPI index) in the world. They r fine.

  • this is eerily reminiscent of the USSR's anthem. hmmmmm wonder why?

  • why does america need to bring democracy everywhere???....leave the world in peace...democracy does not work everywhere....if north korea will ever want to change it will...without american help...U want to invade iran and venezuela and n korea and every contry in the world????

  • @iliesko The problem with "if they want to change then they will" is that in some countries, it is the leaders who decide whether to change, not the people. The leader of a dictatorship has everything he needs. The people are strictly controlled. They can't disagree with him at all, or even talk about disagreeing, even if they want to. It's a complicated situation and the ethics are not so clear.

  • @iliesko they were invited by north korea

  • North Korea a nation that refuses to do as the world says and stood up from the dirt and was one of the first nations to do what ever they want! They formed DPRK!

The country that has been fighting since it's creation day. Now it suffers because the worlds economy is becoming unbalanced

  • @SMGJohn They don't do whatever they want, they do whatever Kim Jong-Il wants. The people starve while the royal family are worshipped like gods. Also, the world's economy has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with North Korea -- they have been suffering terribly since the country was created. Since they don't participate in international trade, there's no way they can be affected by the world economy anyway. You are idolizing the wrong people, believe me. Defect and find out.

  • @Xezlec Prove it? Farout the country is not as shit as u ppl try to make it out to be >.> All ur sayin is shit from other shit therefore bein assumptions no?

  • @XxDavo93xX No. You should read some of the information out there. Have you seen any of the satellite photos at night? I can't link to them, but there are no lights in north korea, in stark contrast to the neighboring countries.

  • @Xezlec How do you know!? Have you been in DPRK!? Before you open your mouth and yell facts based on what you learn from the media try go and visit DPRK first. Else go and eat your money

  • @SMGJohn The DPRK does not allow Americans to visit. I have to rely on the stories of escapees and visitors and the videos they've smuggled out. There are quite a few of these. You can find them yourself. As for the media, have you bothered to read any of the stories you're talking about? Youtube won't let me type anything that even sounds like a description of a url but try putting 2ccgn8r after tiny url.

  • @Xezlec Yeah, you do because for all you know that's South Koreans way to put DPRK in a bad light... But I wont bother to fight with you guys specialy not Americans which hates everything that's Communist or has nuclear weapons....

And I don't need to read anything I live in DPRK why do I need to read anything!?

  • Comment removed

  • @SMGJohn Ignore the old reply I deleted. I googled your username and I think now I believe you about you being in North Korea, and it looks like you're from Norway, which is also believable. I'll just say: you've gotten to see both systems, so you can make your own decisions, and I'm not going to try to tell you what to do with your life. I don't know whether rural North Koreans would choose to leave if they were allowed to, but I wish more people had that choice. Good luck to you anyway.

  • @Xezlec I've been in Norway yes for studies...

  • China recently built a real fence on its border with North Korea, because North Koreans have been voting with their feet since the big famine in 1997. It's well-known that there are a lot of North Koreans who have fled to China over the last 15 years. What North Korea seems to resemble more than anything else is Enver Hoxha's Albania, which was essentially an open-air prison, until the people lost their fear and tore down the government in a few weeks' time.

  • @Xezlec

No they weren't suffering horribly since the country was created. In the 60s and 70s the North Koreans had a much better standard of living than the South Koreans (a capitalist dictatorship back then) - so much so that there was even a steady stream of "defectors" from the South to the North. It's only after the Soviet Union started experiencing economic problems of its own in the 80s (due to many factors) and then ceased to exist that the North Koreans had to experience severe hardship

  • @xvxkh

I know they briefly had a stronger economy. There were various reasons for the defections in both directions after the war though. Anyway, although the South did originally have a government as oppressive as the North, the notion that North Korea was a pleasant place to live in the 60s and 70s seems like a stretch. Much of its early economic success was just the result of forcing people to work harder and consume less.

  • @Xezlec -------I know they briefly had a stronger economy. ------->It was quite for some time from 50s up till early 80s rite? Till 70s, DPR's economy was 3x RoK's.

"Much of its early economic success was just the result of forcing people to work harder and consume less."------->No sir, because they had a proper food deal going between USSR and DPRK where they got 5 year credit terms from CCCP. After CCCP, China and Russia make DPR pay cash upfront for ALL deals and projects beforehand.

  • @Xezlec --------Much of its early economic success was just the result of forcing people to work harder and consume less. -------->Then it would've ended up th same as Pol Pot's Cambodia. How will u achieve economic success by increasing output and decreasing consumption? If u increase output, and decrease consumption, u will only land up w/ unused stock of goods.

  • @xxxdieselyyy Erm not neccesarily it depends how much you export of those goods.

  • @xxxdieselyyy I believe that was the policy that ruined the RSR. They had phenominal output which they exported and made huge profits. Unfortunately, Ceauşescu used the profit for building lavish palaces for himself and all sorts of gifts to his inner circle rather than improve Romania's infrastructure or the quality of life for his people. I sometimes wonder how the eastern block would have turned out if basic ethics had entered into thought.

  • North Korea won't ever change, even their leaders have been brainwashed by themselves

  • @galacticempire19bby - 'Aegukga' means national anthem friend...

  • In almost every other country in the world - communist or capitalist, democratic or totalitarian, people will sing or at least mouth the words of their national anthem when it's played at public gatherings, and it's followed by raucous applause from the patriotic. In North Korea they just stand tight-lipped and unemotional like statues. Note the dead silence after the anthem, like they're waiting for permission to applaud. Fucked up, weirdo country.

  • @NyBob85 Like America.

  • @NyBob85 You don't clap in a symphony. It's impolite. Don't believe me? Ask anyone...they'll tell you.

  • fuck north korea

  • was it in New York?

  • @Moraud5386

    no it was in Pyongyang

  • excellent anthem but it would be better if we know the title and the lyrics

  • @Moraud5386 Title: Ach'immun pinnara (Let the morning rise, i think) or Aeguk-ga ( Patriotic song)

  • @uudrakgvens94 Don't want to seem like a know-it-all, but the DPRK's anthem is "Aegukka." The South's is "Aegukga." It's really confusing; they were supposed to be one anthem back in the forties.

  • this is totally bullshit. the rest of the world need not pay attention to the shit hole north korea. the country is enslaved by a fat fuck. the only goal for North Korea is to protect is fraudster leader, and United States, South Korea, Japan should ignore threats from an illusionary army. but of course, nobody wants to see a unified Korea. not even south korea wants it.

  • @yurikomuro Yeah, i think south korea is too embarraced about thier brothers/enemys to the north. Even china is a getting tired of kim jong il. -.-

  • Such pretty music for such a messed up country

  • @zio5q Not as bad as these guys though

  • @clayto1332 , its the north thats messed and not the south

  • @toludoc I know this, but North Korea and South Korea are two separate countries.

  • @clayto1332 , thanx yo! nice one.

you hv yrsf a nice day

  • @clayto1332 agree

  • @clayto1332 And the USA is not messed up?

  • @AndreHiltre Do you know ANYTHING about North Korea?

  • @clayto1332 Yes, a great deal. It is a failed state and run by a gang of corrupt generals and the Kim family, and has perhaps the most overt suppression of ideas and communication. But my point is that the USA is also fucked up. You have a corrupt elite running your country, you dont need an overt police state because your mass media brain wash your people and your food industry drug the population. You have the lowest educated population of any developed country, lower than North Korea.

  • @AndreHiltre Ahhh so you are one of THOSE people. You know, I live in the United States and live a pretty good life. Take your USA bashing to a related video.

  • @clayto1332 What are 'THOSE' people? Please articulate.

  • @AndreHiltre Your profile reads "This Channel exists to research information posted on Youtube, to debate and to share ideas about the great menace that is threatening us all." I think it is safe to assume that the "great menace" is either the US or government in general. Go and whine to someone that cares.

  • @clayto1332 Once again you prove your ignorance. You must be determined to make an ass of yourself.

I told you, North Korea is fucked up. I also told you the USA is fucked up. The problem for the world is that while North Korea's shit stays on it's own feet, the crap that the USA pumps out is polluting the whole earth. Illegal wars, nuclear proliferation, deadly pollution, juvenile foreign policy and a toxic tashy culture that demeans humanity as a whole.

  • @AndreHiltre You did also say the USA is fucked up, very good. What does that have to do with this video? How does quoting your profile make me ignorant? If you read back in the comments, you will see that you are the one making an ass of yourself. You have an opinion that I don't really care about so take your debate elsewhere.

  • @TheJunoo

"Final Solution"... hm... where have I heard these words before?

  • @xvxkh

Yo bud??? Final solution, uhhh?? My subjective version of "final solution " designatin' that both mother fuckin' J.Stalin and the Korean Stalinist Kim, Ill Sun r burnin' in HELL ETERNALLY, buds~~~ C what i mean??? hahahaahahh!!!!!!!

  • i would like that north korea becomes something like tito's yugoslavia , that would be the best .

  • you are right ;-)

    Eurocommunism is the best..

Berlinguer wants it too in Italy!

  • thank u :)

  • @Nobody1846 Eurocommunism is anticommunism

  • no it's an idea with more freedom for a better solidarity and against the totalitary system..

  • @Nobody1846 wrong, it's an idea that follows burgeous ideals with no more freedom than capitalist freedom and with no more solidarity than solidarity among professional politicians and that doesn't struggle against any totalitarian system but serves one (fascism)

    Eurocommunism is nothing but social-democracy A.K.A social-fascism

  • Agree

  • Wonder what happens if someone misses a note...or forgets to stand up when the music starts.

  • the korean war tore apart my country, but Aegukka is a very sweet sounding song
