I feel sorry for the men who fought for their country despite the gangsters running it, maybe even more so for those grown up with nothing else so they believed what they were told. Didn't good Americans who'd fought the Nazis stand firm against 'Communists' like Charley Chaplain prepared to allow black Untermenschen equal rights?
I can imagine! I´m too young, was born 19 years after the war but my father saw the flying fortresses going towards Germany. They flew in over the west coast of Sweden to avoid artillery. One thing is a big disgrace, Swedish government let the Germans go trough Sweden by train to Norway but i don´t think the had any choice...
Not the only stain on Sweden's reputation.Large numbers of Germans surrendered to the Swedes rather than deliver themselves up to the tender mercies of the Red Army.These unfortunates ,including Cossacks and Russian deserters, were savagely beaten into trucks and delivered to the Russians.Realpolitik or cowardice ? See Tolstoy "Victims of Yalta":The British did the same and worse in Austria to the Cossacks.
They were unmatched in technology, their soldiers were much better trained than us Allies were, as well as disciplined. If they had not made the fatal error of invading Russia, and kept the communists in an alliance until the Allies surrendered, then we would be saluting Hitler today as the Russians did Lenin back in the day, and as the Chinese still salute Mao. They bit off more than they could chew, greed and madness fueled their campaigns.

Difference with the Soviets is that they kept to themselves until the Nazis attacked only then after the war did they 6 buffer states against Nato
