  • Brilliant!

  • Relax HongKong, it was just a question -- I did not know that all floatplanes didn't have retractable wheels, the few I have seen did have them. My apologies for offending you with my lack of floatplane knowledge. I guess my learning about flying in my REAL C182 could never compete with you learning from those flight simulator videos on your channel. Cheers!

  • Why does this talk about landing/taking off on grass? It's obviously a paved runway, don't floatplanes have retractable wheels?

  • @squirrelnut1965 you obviously know nothing about flying.

    1. About 1% of floatplanes have retractable wheels

    2. If a floatplane needs to land on land and not on water, they can't land on pavement dumbass. They land on the grass. Pavement would destroy it's floats.

  • Awesome. Anyone else played this on Aerosoft's Flight Tales Addon for FSX? It's the strangest, but most fun take-off I've ever done!

  • yes I did, thats why i came to this video. I like the missions !!

  • All of a sudden, one of the firetrucks disappeared.

    What happened? Did it crash?

This is a unique and amazing video.

Please add "crazy", "insane" or "dangerous" to the title

so that this video gets more views.

  • Is this a normally the way take-offs are done when using a dolly? This method seems really risky or should I say crazy?

    Long live DH Beaver's.

  • now I want to see the landing video!

  • cool.

  • Aren't you supposed to move to the side so you don't come close to hitting the guy in the truck?

  • Wow

  • Whats a Floatplane Dad -

Its what people used before Helicopters were invented!!

  • /what people still use because they're cheaper

  • I forgot about this clip/comment. 1 year ago.

    Cheaper yes, safer no way!!

so its a risk v cost analysis. I fly both and I wont take the wife and children in the floatplane but no worries in the Helicopter.

Also I dont get my feet wet anymore!!

  • Where did you get such information? You obviously don't know what in the world your talking about. You know what happens when you have a engine failure in a fixed wing aircraft? You glide. How about with a helicopter? You fall, then autorotate. Do some research.

  • 27 years flying both types!!.

    "what if engine fails"

Engine fails!!Option 1 Increase power on number 2 engine and fly on a little slower!!, or if single engine helicopter do an auto and arrive at landing point with minimal forward speed and vertical speed.

Float plane!! carry out forced landing (hope you have suitable wind/water conditions below)-what if over steep terrain. Id rather auto a helicopter onto a steep gorge than force land a float plane into trees or a hillside.

  • Hmm, you make a point. At this point we both seem opinionated. I wonder if we can find some statistics on the survivability of a heli crash vs a general aviation crash.

  • As a pilot of 14 years I have to fully agree with you here. Never logged any time in a rotary but have studied it in depth, grew up riding in them with a coast guard family, and there's nothing safer to "go down" in than a rotary for sure. (provided your pilot is up for it)
