It's their way of advertising memberships to their gym/fitness center. They're saying rather than giving a usual gift, you can give a membership or someone can give one to you.
I remember this commerical from late 1992, I was 7 that year. Wow! Where did the '90's go? It's hard to believe that this decade is coming to an end as well. It's funny how time flies.

To tell you the truth, the Bally Total Fitness commercials from the 1990's as well as portions of the '80's were the greatest ones! How could I ever forget them?
