as a pronunciation guide, for those familiar with Spanish, the vowels in Japanese are pronounced the same way. That is 'e' is pronounced as a long 'a' and 'i' as a long 'e'. So they kind of blend together as such 'eien' is said 'eh-ee-yen'... I don't know if that helps, lol. It's very hard to explain by typing. God Bless you all!
