  • 1. You can fix the connector itself by bending the pins back yourself.

    2. He is being so rough with that board i wouldn't let him touch any of my stuff.

  • What screwdriver are you using?

  • You can bend it back carefully and it would work line it up carefully are maybe its the parts you need cretin tool for fixing it try best buy are call nintendo they have the blue prints for it

  • haha nice Skate or Die.

  • Ok, I just recieved a NES system. I was attempting to fix it. I noticed that the lockout pin has been pulled out by the previous user. I am unsure what it will do. The NES system will not work. I don't want to go out and buy a new 72 pin connector if it wont fix the system. Could you help in anyway? Do I need a new 72 pin connector?

  • thanks :) it helped me install my connector

  • Fail. You need to clean the connecters that the 72 pin slides on to. And the guy in the black shirt looks like a D bag.

  • @robo9193

No you don't, surprisingly, when you think about it, when the system was being built the 72 pin connector was put on and nothing can get onto that part of the board, essentially it's dust proof. I took my NES apart today and took off the pin connector and it was like new under there.

  • dude where did u get that fire mario statue in the background? i want one. :)

  • Or just download every single Nintendo game in ROM form in about 10 seconds...

  • @v8killaREX not the same feel

  • @v8killaREX

Yeah but that's not as fun (:

  • 11 people preferred to go with the Atari 5200.

  • Great video, helped me a lot. Thank you

  • @hughesbill45 What they did not show in this video is the actual cleaning of the mother board connection (where you slide the 72 pin connector onto). Take your brasso or your cartridge cleaning paste and rub that connection part down very well, you will get a ton of black stuff off of that. Once that's good and clean then attach your new 72 pin connector on.... also make sure your NES cartridges are clean (cleaning paste/spray) and everything should work great!

  • My nintendo plays no flashing light but when it comes on all i see is a bunch of zero's and letters....neone no whats up with it?

  • @xxcgjonesxx Most every problem is the 72 connector-try to clean it and the MB contacts; otherwise install a new connector as shown here. As long as you get Video and flashing power light it should be repairable.

  • i love that mario

  • Couldn't have done it without you guys hell yeah

  • lol this realy worked :D thanks

  • why is this so often defect?

  • Weird thing: My NES' screws are suddenly very hard to screw in and part of the front of the bottom casing has warped inwards (under the game cartridge lid) further and further.

It's got the point where I can't screw in 2 of the screws for the metal plate and I also have to put the top casing on without screwing, with a bit of it sticking out (due to the bottom's inward warping).

Anyone else encountered this strange-to-infuriating phenomenon?

  • thumbs up if u couldn't stop looking at that guys hair

  • @ButHeHasDImples: I was getting ready for his hair to go through my screen and suddenly eat me alive. lol

  • Anything between Commodore 64 and Sega Mega Drive II is awesome...

  • Nice now lets see somebody repair a playsation the same way.

  • Thanks for the tips. Was able to replace my 72 pin connector perfectly!

  • why doesnt the dude working on it talk?

  • @ShanetheGamer It's a gimmick. He should talk because it makes the video more annoying as the narrator doesn't know as much as the guy actually working on the repair.

  • @ShanetheGamer thats y his name is da mute modder he talks in sign language

  • Awesome vid. I recently replaced the pin connector on an old NES I found. Problem solved.

  • That was easy.

  • if only i still had mine. ;~;

  • you dont have to buy a new cartridge contact plate. all you need to do is clean it and lift the pins a little with a needle.

  • where is that place at that repairs old nes systems?

  • I've put in a 72 pin connector, changed the AV cables, found a power supply that works and blown on the cartridge and absolutely nothing happens.

  • @Quicksilver1111 actually I solved this problem. I got the video cable and pulled it up really hard and the picture shows up.

  • i've cleaned it and my cartridges still won't play what should i do next

  • @tbear3846 if your Nes doesn't play any game, then you have to replace the 72 pin connector

  • FUCK 360 NES 4 LIFE

  • @EvilNintendoNerd HELL YEAAHHHHHH

  • try magentizing your tip.

  • Bought a new 72 pin today at a local game store. Replaced it and works much better. I still have to reposition the game a few times but every game will work. I can even use my OLD Game-Genie! YAY

  • You should really clean the mother board contacts before putting on the new 72 pin

  • Piece of cake :)

  • that dude talking sounds like jake gylnhall

  • didnt work for me bought 2 broken systems and did not work after i replaced the 72 pin connector.

  • if it had a red screen its probly the rf switch on the mother board

  • NINTENDO!!!

  • what kind of Philips screwdriver is needed for the screws? It seems like the screwdrivers I have are a bit too large for the screws on my NES. :(

  • Cool, I'll try harder.Thanks Man.

  • I can't D:

I got to the part where I actually had to put in the new pin connector and I can't get it in DX

I think I may have bent the new pin connector T.T

  • something similar happened to me

unscrew it and see if any screws are tightening wires down then take them out of the screws way it may or may not work

  • my nes has that red light flashing problem and when i do get games to work sometimes they just freeze my nes is a piece of shit but ive had it since 1987 so it served me well but i heard top loaders are alot more reliable so im going to buy one and get ninja gaiden 2 and actually finish mega man 3 since it wont freeze after 20 minutes

  • i had a nes that was destroyed i put new 72 pins in it and it still was blinking then i took out the cic lock out chip it worked like new then 2 years later it broke al over again i just gave up on it and i got the retro duo nes/snes top loader on ebay

  • I replaced the 72 pin connector and the damn thing still blinks, I still have to do the ol' take it out and blow method. I also cleaned the cartridges...that doesn't help either. Some systems are just plain old and no matter what you do to them they still won't play games.

  • Great video showed me exactly what I needed to install my VideoGameCentral connector to my system!

  • All the people saying these guys don't know what they are doing, well, I would dare to say they do, and have probably done this a few times before.

  • WORD!

  • i miss my NES. R.I.P.

  • that nes dosent have the nintendo screws...

  • nOObz. you are not supposed to push the game down after the 72 pin connector is changed.... fucking waste.

  • my nes has an audi problem.i used mario 1 because everyone knows the audio of this game well anyway. I get the original audio but it also has this constant buzzing sound with it, how can i fix this

  • ive got that exact screw driver small world huh

  • OH nvm

    i watched the end

love you guys and the mutes guys shirt :D

  • can some one help me

i just replaced mine on my nes, ive had it since it came out, and rad racer doesnt work any more

so i bought a new one and i put it on but it seems to stick to my cartdridge?

  • buy yourself an electric screwdriver please

  • Great video, now I just gotta wait for my 72 pin connector to get here.

Currently I'm running my NES with its top off... only way I can get the bloody thing to load games lol

  • name of the song plz?

  • is Mute Moder actually a mute....

  • I have that T-shirt (the red one)

  • Same here!

  • i love the t-shirt of the modder :P

  • YEEESSSSS!!!!!! ITS ALIVE, ITS ALIVE, MY NES IS ALIVE WHHAAAAHAAAAA, RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE.

those will be my exact words when my nes is fixed thks to this video

  • Fucking good video, will need to order some of these as my one is getting wear and tear

  • I got a question. I tried to repair my NES, but now all I'm getting is a GREY screen. It does not blink however it just turns out grey. Anything else I could look at to try to fix it?

  • you can try cleaning your games with brasso also you can try cleaning the part where you connect the 72 pin connector with brasso

  • where is your store?

  • In NY, Crossbay I think.

  • crossbay? do they have a number i can call

  • It's on their website.

  • Hey up OSF, Mute and Mario. I see you in the background!!! Thanks much for the vid, its a life saver, seriously. Time for some koopa-stomping!!

  • Dumb question: Do you unscrew it clockwise or counter clockwise?

  • unscrewing is always anti-clockwise and screwing is always clockwise. doesn't matter which country in the world, its all the same. just remember - lefty loosey and righty tighty. lol it sounds so gay, i know.

  • Righty = Tighty

    Lefty = Loosy

  • Clockwise to tighten screws while counter clockwise is loosening them.

  • the music kicks so much ass!

  • lol his name is mute

  • Can't the modder talk or does he choose not to?

  • actually alot of people like nes

  • there are many 360 howto's thankfully, but one more couldn't hurt for sure.

    i-hacked-com/content/view/263/1/

  • lol that's tyte man.. i wish i had a NES to mess around with.

  • What happen to the light gun video? i didn't get a chance to view it.

  • LOL I had that shirt, but I grew.

  • where can i get the new 72 pin connector at

  • Look at link to the right in the video description to VideoGameCentral.

  • @cavemanNJ113

I think at this website called dascheap.com

  • i put a m80 in my and tunre it on. i was playing wifh nintendo power booooom

  • were is that store at

  • this is cool, and what song is this in the vid because it's awesome!

  • I us to have an nintendo where I played the games with out the lid and casings. It was all exposed.lol

  • im so jealous of the people who get to go in ur store. Man i wish i lived near u guys

  • Johnny's been replaced with Mario.

  • Can you show one on the super nintendo

  • You should have disabled the chip that disables unlicensed games while you were in there.

  • i still have my original nintendo never had to replace the connectors yet. it still has the original box. i should pick uo a new 72 connector though. it would make it less of a hassle to play i'm sure

  • I did that a couple of times myself. fairly easy to do.

i stashed a couple of 72 pin connectors just in case.

the first time i did it i was nervous as hell. i wish i had a video like that back then.

    cool video

  • cool info

  • u can fix the connector but it is time consuming

  • sorry i ment the best mute modder

  • I still have my NES and I tried fixing it a while back, but I was missing that one part that would make it work and didn't want to risk screwing something up for good.

Thanks for showing how simple it really is, guys!

  • nice how to

  • awesome nute modder the one and only

  • nice

  • first to lose
