I remember back In the uk. Saturday night it would be on tv. Changed all cop shows after that. Uzi machine guns, fast cars, girls, everyone wanted to go to miami not Spain for their holidays.
And yes I did try to dress like don Johnson, sondid all my mates. Must of looked like a right bunch of knobs.
@hardtechnoboy, I've been to the Jai-Alai center recently (live about 30 miles south of there). It's still an exciting game to watch, but nowhere near as popular as it was in the 70s & 80s. Who knows if it will return to it's former glory...
Actually that Ferrari really wasn't a Ferrari.. It was a kit-car based from a C3 corvette and has a V12 from a 1980 Ferrari 400i.. It's in the Ford Motor Museum..
Great show! Who else could rock a suit jacket and jeans like Don Johnson? Was anyone else freaked out by the very end of the theme song? It used to scare the hell outta me! Sounded so frightening!
off course this is not the real miami ,miami beach now is full of homeless people and getho low class black people that come from new york and atlanta the dream is over be extra carefull if u come to south beach
15 years ago miami beach was diferent it was really nice because no many people khew south beach it was like living in a little town with the previliges of a big city now that is famous worlwide everybody not just want to come here to visit but to stay so now we have an invasion of bad apples and a lot of getho type of people plus homeles people find miami their heaven now is like any other city full of crime just normal but is not the paradise that everybody think it is
I thought it was the coolest show on tv ever, from the places where it was shot, to the soundtrack, everything, it is just soooo cool. You can't not love a detective living on a yacht with a pet crocodile that drives a ferrari testarossa, white one I might add, and at the end of the show, he and his partner drive a huge speedbot, jumping on the waves. Can anyone name a cooler tv show than this, cuz I sure can't. Cheers
Love of God, I still remember it all! I found RCA patch cords in 1984, connected the TV to the Marantz 2216-B tuner and SounDesign floor speakers, this came on and I cranked the sonofabitch. A monster was born! Every Friday, we CRANKED IT! The whole neighbourhood knew when Miami Vice was on! The entire house shook worse than on Poltergeist! Damn good times, never to be seen again! I'll die extremely happy.
Television in the 80's, even daytime tv, was so much better than tv today. Almost all shows now are ridiculous reality shows. The writers and producers of todays tv lack any creativity or originality. I doubt 10, 20 years from now people will be looking back fondly at these talentless, stupid shows that are on now.
No but they will look back to video games some cinema vintage internet stuff. Face it, tee vees golden era is over. Now they have to compete with the net and games, which means a fraction of the market of the 80s.
Absofuckin'lutely right-on. We may never see great days like that again. We were poor, but MAN, we we rich! Today's writers and producers indeed lack creativity, originality...and credibility. This show made the Reagan Administration era livable.
I've always loved this theme song too but, how strange! They didn't cover up the thong-wearers' booty during the shows original run twenty years ago, so block it out now???
Very Good! :)
