Both they and the suits worn by Master Chief in Halo were inspired by the powered armor Robert Heinlein wrote about in his novel Starship Troopers back in the 1950's. James Cameron was so influenced by the novel that he had his actors in "Aliens" read it as preparation for their roles. The makers of Halo were also inspired by Starship Troopers.

Hey depletable, 3d tvs are already out in DLP(LCD and Plasma 3d come out next year(2010), just need to release 3d blu ray players. If you have a ps3 you will automatically gain 3d playability with a firmware update. Cameron said that the 3D bluray should be out 8-9 months after the regular blu ray release. i will be getting both versions!

Sadly no :( since its an LCD, im also stuck with regular LCD atm. Thankfully i think avatar 2d can hold its own on 1080p while we wait for its 3d versioin :). By the time it comes out there should be tons of people with 3d tv sets just for avatar. right now the biggest 3d HDTV is the Mitsubishi 83 inch but its DLP so maintenance every 4 years or so turns me off from it. But since its projection im sure it looks good with movies. IT could be cost effective if the 3d plasmas and LCDs are too much.
